The cottage is quiet and relaxing with birds, deer, black bear and other animals, but safe and relaxing. Near Concord U., Winter Place Ski Resort, Pipestem SP, Bluestone Dam, Sandstone Falls, Mathena Center, Princeton, Bramwell, Hatfield McCoy Trail. Applachian Trail. Time out ( from living in the city)

Small quaint cottage! Perfect location to meet up with our daughter from Jacksonville and we live in Cincinnati. Owner ensured our stay was relaxing and provided additional necessities. The baked treats were an added bonus. . If traveling in the area. Would choose this location again

Perfect Location!

Red Bird Cottage is nestled in the small town of Athens, WV. Located not far from I-77 the location was ideal for visiting my son at Concord University. Basic businesses in Athens, Dollar General, Post Office, CVS and a park all within walking distance or a 5 minute drive. Eating establishments limited however Princeton,WV is a quick 15 minute drive. Red Bird Cottage was charming, extremely clean, and Anita was just as sweet. Not shown in the picture is the amazing fire pit and the adorable squirrel we saw every morning. The road isn’t traveled much so it does have a quiet atmosphere. The added gate on the deck is a nice touch and comfort if you’re traveling with your pet. No detail was missed.

Lovely, wish we were here longer.

We needed a stop over as we passed through town in our RV. Anita was gracious enough to let her her lovely place be our stop over. We only stayed one night but it was just what we needed.

Amazing stay in what feels like a tree house!

The house was just as advertised. Very clean and kitchen well stocked. The host goes above and beyond welcoming guests with little mini fridge of sodas and plate of brownies which my kids loved coming from a day of skiing at near by Winterplace. I loved cooking breakfast in the morning with a ton of feathered friend visitors on the back porch!

Cozy cottage

This was perfect for our family of 5 (2 adults 3 kids from 5 to 12) plus 1 dog. It was smaller but it is a cottage and we were well aware of that when we booked. It was only around 20 minutes from winterplace where we enjoyed skiing and tubing.

Pleasant stay

Be sure to follow host's directions instead of GPS to avoid a one lane road. The small kitchen/living area does not have much seating, and one of the bathrooms is tiny, but was a much nicer space for 6 adults than a hotel for one night. The decor and homey touches, such as the mini cokes and brownies our host left were appreciated. It was nice to have a washer and dryer for a quick load of laundry. The master bedroom has a queen bed and full size bathroom, the other bedroom has twin beds, and the living room has a sleeper sofa. There was also an air mattress in a closet. The covered back porch and firepit area are another plus.

Cute cottage

The cottage is cute and very clean. It is in a fairly remote area but it is quiet. Anita was very communicative and answered all questions quickly. The access to the highway is not the best - very winding narrow roads.

Quick getaway

Me and my family were in town to help with the Lindsey Ann Varney Fall festival. Great location not far from Princeton, quiet neighborhood, and clean. WiFi worked well so my kids were happy!

Clean comfy cottage. There was a water advisory to not drink the water from tap due to chemicals in water. We would have liked to know about this before arriving and seeing notice on refrigerator

Miss Anita's Red Bird Cottage is one of the best places we have stayed. Everything we needed was there. Communication was spot on. I do believe we have found out happy place for future stopovers.
