We really appreciated the art and the location is very pretty. Loved the 2 barn cats! The personal touches were also wonderful. Nothing but good things to say.
We spent 8 days at the old farm house which was unique and clean as a pin. On the property was the Glass Rooster Cannery my Grandson Seth made a loaf of bread and pecan nut butter. Hannah the owners Bill and Jeannie Seabrook's daughter had the patients of Job with him. He had to do the work including Measuring and calculating how much ingredients would be needed. When done cleaned up his mess and put away dishes. (awesome) While cooking he ate cucumbers fresh from garden and Amanda another helper and Seth weeded garden for his labor. Jeannie and Amanda rode him around on the gator.
There are three cats Pedro, Rosie, and Lilly on the property Jeannie gave Seth the job of feeding them along with the fish in the pond located behind the house . Seth fell in love with the cats and feed them each morning before we ventured out. We stayed and decided to go fishing one day so we started hunting for worms. Bill who was hard at work stopped and took is tractor over to a mulch pile and turned over for us. ( we hit the mother load of earth worms) Seth fished with his grandpa and feed the cats fish for supper. This entire family went out of their way to make our stay special they dropped what ever they were doing and helped us We will never forget them and hope we can revisit this home away from home again.( Lord willing.)

Adorable spot well positioned outside of town
A group of us were heading to Columbus for the Arnold fitness expo, and didn't want to stay in town. The cannery Hen House was a good spot for us. Cute older farm house, with lots of eclectic decorations. Homemade bread and jam on arrival, and a beautiful property that we would've ordinarily enjoyed if it weren't winter. While well decorated, clean, and well cared for, it's still and old farm house, and has those traits that old farm houses have. This includes squeaky floors, and a pretty squeaky stair case.
Very large main floor bathroom. All three bedrooms are up stairs together with an up stairs bathroom. Perfectly isolated half bath off the kitchen. The decorations are largely to period as well, which I personally think is neat, but your mileage may vary.
We had some minor septic issues while staying which made the shower drain slowly (and stopped draining the last day). Jeannie was very responsive, and tried to get the issue corrected during our stay, but wasn't able. It wasn't a huge inconvenience. Mainly due to this, and the cost potentially being a little high this time of year that I felt it was a four star vs five star endeavor. Overall, nice place, and good host.

About the host
Hosted by Jeannie Seabrook
Welcome to Old Hen Guest House! Jeannie runs the farm and Cannery and the guest home is privately located in the front acreage. Bill is an engineer and all around terrific handy-man. We have been married 38+ years and have five children and eight grandchildren. We love company, family and the great outdoors.
Why they chose this property
Old Hen Guest House is located in a safe, private farm community. We live on acreage adjacent to the guest house, farm the land and work with farmers to get their produce into shelf stable products. We raised our children in the community and love stepping out into nature every morning.

Old Hen Guest House is a beautiful artisticly deccorated home that is relaxing and homey. Guests are welcome to take advantage of the property by taking a walk, having a picnic at the pond or visiting the Cannery to shop. With three comfortable queen beds and two full bathrooms, the home has plenty of space to enjoy your stay inside and out.
