Clean, comfortable, convenient

Cute older home that is clean and comfortable. Host was great to communicate with and very helpful. Beds are comfortable. Plenty of towels, washer and dryer, extra blankets. Neighborhood was quiet. Even on the 4th of July, fireworks ended as we were going to bed. Other nights, no noise of neighbors or sirens. We are a family of 2 adults and 3 teens who were in town to explore and hike. This was a good location to use as home base and explore from here. Enjoyed downtown Eureka for a couple of dinners, a festival, and shops.

Great Stay!

My grandmother & our three dogs had a great stay at this sweet little vintage home with a private fully fenced yard, and deck. The laundry room/back entry hall is huge & connected to the kitchen, which is larger than it appears in the photos. Plenty of room for our dogs to stretch out. Our dogs weigh 65lb, 55lb, and 8lb, respectively. The yard was fully secure and well kept, so it was easy to clean up after the dogs. There is plenty of street parking on a nice wide street, and there is room for everyone to have privacy inside the house & yard. The linens & furnishings are comfortable as well as functional. It was remarkably quiet at night, almost rural feeling, even though it's in the city. Very nice attentive hosts. We will definitely stay here again.

Love it

This place is so cozy and sweet. It doesn’t look very big from the outside but it’s super spacious inside. You can’t hear anything between rooms which is great. The bathroom is fabulous with a large bathtub, the kitchen has everything you need and more, and the space in general is super clean and inviting. There’s a washer dryer too, so that was extremely helpful. The area is surprisingly quiet even though it’s by a school. I really enjoyed staying here and definitely would again.

Humboldt Bay Marathon!

We came to stay, run and enjoy the Eureka/Humboldt Bay area. Host was prompt with answers, communicating about arrival time, etc. Everything we needed was there and the house is within 2 miles of the start/finish of the race. We will stay again. Thank you!

Spacious, super-clean, well-equipped house

Loved this house! Perfect amount of space for our 4-person family with 2 teens. Really clean, well-stocked kitchen, comfy rooms, board games, and TVs. Centrally located, close to Redwoods, short drive to downtown Eureka & waterfront. Very pleasant!

Read the details prior to booking, as stated by the owner

Margo’s home is lovely and well located. I would advise that you thoroughly read through the details before booking. Pets are welcome, but only in the kitchen and hallway to the backyard, you’ll have to enter through the backyard entrance. Most of the house is carpeted where animals are to stay off of. If you have anymore than two people in your party there is an additional daily fee per person of $40. Margo states that her neighbors keep a close eye on the house, which I think brings a great deal of comfort to the owner but the only room in the house that doesn’t have blinds happens to directly face the neighbors windows. We definitely felt like we were being watched the whole time and often found the neighbor peering at us through her windows into ours. Our stay was overall very nice, just make sure to pay attention to the details.

Eureka Getaway

This property is located in a quiet neighborhood and was centrally located for easy access onto freeway. Very clean and kitchen well stocked, plenty of games to play. My only negative was the backyard, it was overgrown and my small dog's kept getting caught up in the blackberry vines that are beginning to take over a corner. Other than that it was a great location. Side note, I apologize for taking your ice packs that were in the freezer...miscommunication in our group! Please let me know how to get back to you. Thank You for a relaxing getaway

Cute and Clean

I was traveling to Humboldt County with my 19 year old daughter to see the Humboldt State campus. This house was spacious and very clean. Brand new carpets and a very well stocked kitchen in a quiet residential neighborhood. My daughter loved the privacy of the cute upstairs room...perfect for a teen or young adult. Margo and her daughter Holly were super responsive to our requests.

Hello! Thank you for checking out this listing. I am offering this house to visitors to Humboldt County for a short while. I live nearby and hope you will let me know what you are looking for so that I can see about making this your best stay ever!

Why they chose this property

Don't you want a place to spread out and relax? Quiet but not far from anything? Whether you stay local or visit nearby counties of Mendocino or Trinity ... or even drive up to Vancouver or down to San Francisco... This is the place to start the fun!

Flying in and out of our local airport (ACV) is SO easy, it makes travelling infinitely more relaxing. United Airlines, Avelo, and American Airlines are the three carriers.

Each year, Lonely Planet asks its community of travel experts – in-house editors, researchers on the road and locals on the ground – to decide on the most compelling destinations to visit in the year ahead. This year marks the 8th annual Best in the US list.

For 2018 Lonely Planet named California’s Redwood Coast, primarily Humboldt County, the number one destination in the country to visit in 2018. Located four hours north of San Francisco, this picturesque region spans 175 miles of coastline and is home to towering forests of giant redwood trees that you might recognize from blockbuster film franchises such as Star Wars and Jurassic Park. With Redwood National Park turning 50 this year, travelers can get their share of shinrin-yoku (forest therapy) and experience Humboldt County’s quirky new shops, oysters and brewpubs.

The entire list is available online at To see the Lonely Planet video featuring Humboldt, go to: Lonelyplanet[dot]com/usa/california/north-coast

What makes this property unique

There are so many things to do ... Worldwide, we are known for the glorious Kinetic Sculpture Race & the Kinetic Universe - every May, after the Tall Ships sail in. June brings the [baseball] Crabs back, the Oyster Festival and the Trinidad Fish Fry. July has spectacular fireworks over the Bay, Rodeo Week, & the Folklife Festival. In August this is the best haven to avoid the heat everywhere else, go to the County Fair, Woofstock, & see the Dog Agility Trials. September is lovely on all of the rivers and for Cruz'N Eureka. October is very busy with the Apple Harvest Festival, Pastels on the Plaza, & more. November begins Crab Season, the Intertribal Gathering & Elders Dinner, and the Mushroom Festival. December has many holiday celebrations including the Symphonies, the Tractor & Truckers' Christmas Convoy, and the Tuba Santas. January has the mildest weather of anywhere, the Eureka Crab Celebration, & is the beginning of Steelhead Days for the tastiest fishing. February is the Inked Hearts Tattoo Festival & the Valentines Sunset Paddle. In March the Aleutian Cackling Geese "Fly Off", it's the educational & entertaining Dog Expo, plus the Redwood Coast Jazz Festival. April is for Godwit Days, the International Film Festival, & [Steam] Donkey Days. And the 1st Saturday of every month is Arts Alive!

Also, check out "Humboldt Made" for the many cottage industries that have gotten their start here ... Dick Taylor Craft Chocolate, Cypress Grove Chevre, and Lost Coast Brewery, are among the most beloved.

But here in Humboldt County, Nature rules. Humboldt State University recently won the honor of having the highest score on the nationwide "Get Outside" competition by Outdoor Nation.

The reason? The beach, the mountains (snow in winter!), the rivers, the redwood forests (zip-lining!), the ocean - all are very close by and easily accessed. Fishing, sailing, horseback riding, jet boats, kayaking, biking, running, camping, surfing -
Sky's the limit!
