About this property

Adjacent to Willingdon Beach, this Historic House is right on Marine Drive. An easy walk to coffee shops, restaurants, art gallery, gift shops, wool store, entertainment store, music shop, nail salon and so much more.

Two bedrooms with comfy beds, original hardwood floors, spacious living room, authentic 1930s feel with some inauthentic upgrades like a microwave and gas stove!!

In 1930, depression times, when Marine Ave was a dirt road, Mme Loukes built this house and her 5th Ave Dress Shop next door, modeled after the 5th Ave Dress Shop in New York.

The original lathe and plaster walls, cove ceilings, gymnasium quality maple floors and original baseboards are in still in prime condition. The fireplace is intact from the 1930’s, as well as the original blue bathtub and sink. The original wrought iron fence and gate are still a part of the front entrance garden.

This property is a *Historic* property, not a modern luxury. The lighting is 1930s style. The pipes are 1930s style. We have added some modern luxuries like a coffee maker, a microwave, a dvd player, etc to help make your stay more comfortable.

Perfect location to stores and beach

Quaint and eclectic with lots of room for a family. The historic home is located in between stores and across from the beach, with a parking lot in the back. The rooms were separated and was a bit unusual, but allowed for privacy. The ramp to access the door is a bit steep and could be a challenge for anyone with mobility issues. Host Haley was quick to respond and provided details which made it an easy process.

Quirky stay

We appreciated the central location and it was good value for the property. Karyne left easy instructions and lots of local knowledge. The place was big with lots of room for our party of four. It’s definitely historical and the age of the home shows. There is no door on one of the bedrooms and the blinds in one room and the bathroom do not cover the windows which impacted our privacy.

Great host but place was so-so.

The location is very close to the main area and that is nice, but it is basically in a back parking lot and there was some noise at night (people in the shared large parking lot). One of the bedrooms is off the kitchen and doesn't have a door to it (so be aware if you want your privacy, this is not possible for this room). As well, while the main parts were clean, floors, beds, etc. the windows and sills needed cleaning (lots of bugs) and the lighting wasn't the best (and the tub didn't drain properly). The host was great and it was supplied well (including a very thorough binder with information).

This 1930's building was very interesting and still had many of the original features. Beds were very comfortable and owner helpful.

This house is cozy and in a terrific location; easy walk to coffee, bakery, health food shop, the beach and park. Very much appreciated the super thorough binders too.

We couldn't watch just normal TV, it had Netflix but we wanted to watch TSN and couldn't. I think it could use a few more plates, only had 4, was fine for us of only 2 but for a family, not so much. Didn't have a stove, only an induction burner, toaster oven and microwave. Very small fry pan. Bed was comfortable. Had to call owner to find out how to turn down the heat, was cooking in when we checked in. Nice touch was the room diffuser so you could burn nice oils (bring your own).
