Disliked: Cleanliness
Good in many ways, just needs a little attention
First, the (many) good points: Excellent location, nice, cosy home, well appointed and equipped kitchen, easy check-in, lots of parking (back lane and street), close to Lower Lonsdale and sea bus to downtown, fancy bathroom, quiet street day and night, friendly and responsive owner, and very comfortable bed and pillows. On the other hand, cleanliness was a mixed bag. The bed linens and towels were super clean and most of the house was pretty tidy, though there were quite a few cobwebs here and there. The bathroom wasn't spotless but wasn't too bad. However, the kitchen was quite grungy (drawers full of crumbs, food bits and hair, crumbs and food under the counter appliances, liquids dribbled down the cupboard fronts), and the fridge needed a wipe down. The yard could use a little love to make it more attractive for use by tenants. We were also woken up at night by some rodent activity under the floors though we never had any issues in the house and Jeff was on top of it. We were able to pass our feedback directly onto Jeff and he was receptive (and had been stretched a bit thin with work, explaining the less than perfect experience with our stay). We have stayed in many vrbos both in Canada and overseas, and don't care much about fancy or new, but we do expect a clean place when you pay to stay. There are so many great things about this place that a little attention in a couple of areas would make it ideal. Hats off to Jeff for being receptive to our feedback and our intent is to be constructive to help him with future stays.
