We loved our stay at Bear Cabin. It was exactly as advertised and comfortable for our entire family ranging from 12 to 79. It was sparkling clean and well appointed. It was close to the park as well as other outdoor adventures. Every VRBO should be exactly like this! The only thing I would have enjoyed as a senior in the cool evenings was an afghan to throw over my legs. The owners made sure we had extra lanterns when the electricity went out briefly due to a storm, although there were already a couple in the closet. We would have brought bathing suits if we had realized there was available use of the pool on the owners' campground. Perfect stay in an ideal location. Five stars.
We went over the summer as per what locals said was the warmest week yet, we live in Florida so hot weather doesn’t really bother us. The cabin doesn’t have AC but in our opinion it doesn’t need it, the fans did just fine. I didn’t have any specific communication with the host other than the one preset in the app and the print out with welcome information in the cabin. The communication was so complete we didn’t require anything else from them. The cabin is clean, comfortable, stocked with everything we needed and more. Although is called black bear cabin the coast was clear, no bear bothered us we were perfectly safe.
This was a perfect property for our visit to Glacier National Park! After busy days in the park it was so peaceful and comfortable to come back to. Extremely clean and had everything we needed.
This is the first negative review I have given after many years of using VRBO.
Property description on the page was not accurate. Based on the road I physically could not access the property. This was discovered prior to the actual date of the stay. The owner agreed to refund, I called to process the refund and then was told the owner did not agree. I paid more that $1,000 for two nights that I was not able to access.
VRBO is telling me the owner has to pay me, the owner is ignoring.
Just Beware.
My husband, are two teenage boys, and my parents stayed for seven days at Black Bear cabin! The cabin itself is perfect for our needs, the hosts Duane and Donna were so friendly and helpful during our stay, and it is so close to Glacier National Park we visited there four times-yet-still, it remained a quiet, secluded, relaxing place to stay as well Cannot recommend this property highly enough!
Absolutely loved staying at the black bear cabin! Perfect location for a few day trips into glacier national Park. Cabin was perfect for making breakfast in the morning and coming back to rest in the evening. Very clean and comfortable. I admit I was worried about not having central air with daytime highs in the 80s but we had no issues with the temperature overnight and never used the kitchen window unit. Would definitely recommended black bear cabin to others!
This Vrbo was very clean, really close to the west end of the park (about 15-20 minutes), and was in a really convenient location to other nearby towns. We stayed here for 8 days and had an amazing time. The owners were very quick to respond to questions we had, as well
This cabin was wonderful. The location was great, in the woods, but not too remote. Only 10 minutes to Glacier NP and 5 minutes to the city of Hungry Horse. The kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms were great for our group of 6 and had everything we needed. The deck with the view of trees was beautiful; we sat outside several evenings. When I had questions, the host was quick to respond and answer any question I had. I would definitely recommend this place to others.
This property was clean, comfortable and very appealing! The location is great - private and yet easy to get to. The owners are very thoughtful and ensured we had ample linens and supplies which made our stay so complete!

Absolutely loved our stay at Black Bear Cabin! It is accessible to everything you need in a short drive. The cabin is nicely decorated, beds are comfortable and the hosts provide lots of sweet details and amenities, including laundry detergent, which was well appreciated after hiking in the hot sun for a days! The outdoor furniture was comfortable for enjoying coffee and reading in the early morning. The home feels spacious and just wonderful for a family or friends to share. And the hosts were super responsive to our questions. We will definitely be back!!!
Our stay at the Black Bear cabin gave me and my family an unforgettable experience we will fondly remember. The cabin was clean and well-maintained. We saw much wildlife while relaxing in the cabin and, even more, exploring the surrounding National Forests and Park. The outdoor deck and grill were big plusses. We would not hesitate to book again
We enjoyed our stay at Black Bear Cabin. It had all the sufficient things that we needed and the host is just awesome. We would love to come and stay again if we are visiting Montana.
Clean, in good location, as nice as it looks in photos. Loved the outdoor fire pit. Everything we could ask for in a rental. Actually one of the nicest places we’ve stayed in.
We absolutely loved staying here!! You will have privacy from other surrounding cabins, pine trees will engulf you and make you feel like you're truly in the middle of the mountains, and the entire set up of this cabin was so beautifully done. It felt so comfortable, cozy, modern, and exactly what we needed for a Montana getaway trip. We stayed for one week and will definitely return with friends!
It is located close to Glacier Nat Park, so that made it easy to go about 3x during our stay!
Highly recommend!!
We had a great time staying in this clean, comfortable, well equipped home!! The location was minutes from the west entrance to Glacier Natl Park. The quiet surroundings and nice landscaping made for relaxing evenings! Our communication with the owners was great and they responded promptly! You’ll enjoy the nice grill and back deck seating also - overall it was a perfect home away from home!!!

Remote
The house/cabin overall was good. The location is remote and if not found in daylight very difficult to find-! There is no outdoor lighting so signs hard to see and no sign that actually says name of cabin until arrival. Everyone got lost and neighbors not happy when asked. Once found easy to get in. It has everything needed. Thank you
My family and I recently travelled to GNP. After much research regarding various properties around the various cities around the park, we landed on this property and could not have been happier. The house was truly our home for the week, it was clean, comfy and had everything we needed. The location was perfect- secluded property near GNP and also to the other nearby cities. It was truly a dream. Thank you for an amazing stay!
We adored the cabin, and the property it was on. It was very quaint and came equipped with all the necessities! Bear spray and a cooler for use were helpful! The back deck was nice to sit out on at night.
The lawn was immaculate! I could sleep in the grass it was so soft.
Good to knows for other potential renters:
1.) Make sure to follow the directions given exactly, it's tucked back a ways and can be difficult to find if not paying attention.
2.) We had some hot temperature days when staying here but although their is no A/C in the bedrooms, if you keep the blinds shut the house will stay cool enough to not feel uncomfortable at night, also the temperature drops quite a bit in the evenings and they had a couple fans to use that drew cold air in as well.
Everything was outstanding, location, amenities, it was a fantastic stay!

About the host

We have a long family history of living and adventuring in the West Glacier area. We purchased 40 acres in Martin City in 2017 and are pursuing our dream of creating a farm homestead. Currently we raise a couple pigs and a dozen or so chickens. The animals are a safe distance from the cabin so don't worry about a rooster crowing or any animal smells. We also own and operate Beargrass Lodging & RV Resort, 3 miles from this cabin.

Why they chose this property
Many rental properties in this area are right off the highway and have traffic noise. Our property is quiet, secluded, and you will not see or hear traffic. There is an occasional train in the far distance.
What makes this property unique
This property is cozy in the winter time with a pellet stove and pellets provided free of charge. The driveway is fully maintained and plowed for ease of access. You will need AWD or 4WD in the winter to access the property.
