This comfortable sound front cottage boasts charm, spectacular views, and great sound access via the backyard or boardwalk with deeded access. The flat yard and great location makes this home a prime windsurfing/kiteboarding location where you can launch right from the yard!

Our spectacular sound-front vacation home in Salvo is a paradise for your getaway vacation. Escape your busy life to a secluded home away from home.
It’s only a short 10 ~ 15 minute walk across the street to an uncrowded beach access. You can easily spend your day on the beach and be back before dusk to watch breathtaking sunsets over the sound from our deck with friends and family. You can also take your beach fun to a 4-wheel drive beach access just a couple miles down Highway 12.
For water sport lovers, there is a sound access point in the backyard. If you don’t have your own gear, you can rent from Hatteras Watersports which is walking distance from the house. Our place is an outstanding location for windsurfing, jet skiing, kiteboarding, kayaking, or paddle boarding. After a day in the water, relax and enjoy fishing, reading, or just enjoying the beautiful view right from the comfort of our vacation home.
Nearby are Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, Rodanthe Pier (Rodanthe), Cape Hatteras Lighthouse (Buxton), Native American Museum (Frisco), Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum (Hatteras) and many more places for you to explore. There are also plenty of local restaurants and gift shops for you to enjoy.
For a day trip, you can take the Hatteras ferry to Ocracoke island or visit other famous places off the island such as Bodie Island Lighthouse (Nags Head), Jockey's Ridge State Park (Nags Head), or Wright Brothers National Memorial (Kill Devil Hills).

Next to the main entry on the covered porch the warm offering relaxing views of the natural landscaping and sound. After a day of fun in the sun relax with a soak in the hot tub while the sun sets over the beautiful Pamlico Sound.

The first living level has 3 comfy bedrooms, a centrally located hall bath, and convenient laundry area. Bedroom 1 is a master with queen bed, deck access, and private bath with Jacuzzi tub. Bedrooms 2 and 3 each have pyramid bunk beds. As you reach the second level you are met with stunning views and a light and airy great room with comfy furnishings. The galley style kitchen is nicely-equipped and perfect for creating culinary masterpieces. Nearby dining areas offer seating for 8.

At the top of the spiral staircase is a loft with private deck and TV. This is the perfect space to steal a few quiet moments to reflect and admire the exceptional views.

Cleaning Fee : Including house cleaning; Bed linens, Dish towels, and a welcome bag filled with a new roll of paper-tower, 4 pack toilet tissue, a small box of trash can liners.

Great House!

House was very clean and in excellent condition. Amazing views of the sound with an easy walk/ bike ride to the beach. The included paddle boards, kayak and bikes were were great to have. This house was perfect for our family of four. We enjoyed the beach, fishing, crabbing and simply relaxing. I would not hesitate to book this property in the future!

Great week!

We had a great time at this property for our week! Great location and fantastic sound views. It was quite and lots of space for the family to spread out and the kids to play. Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook meals. All you need is the food and seasonings etc. As expected with staying on the sound prepare for the mosquitoes!

Fantastic Place on the Sound

I’ve been coming to This area for over a dozen years, and this was the best maintained soundfront house that I’ve stayed at. Great for young families- no issues at all with neighbors- great spot for kiteboarding. We’ll be back.

Nice property

Our family had a very nice stay at this property. Having the pier easily accessible made it easy for us to all enjoy fishing together. Our 2 teenagers enjoyed the paddle boards several days while we were there. The location was good and the local bait shop was walking distance. Everyone was very nice in both of the local shops. Its only a short 30 minute drive in either direction to find plenty of activities. I would definitely recommend staying here. It was clean and the kitchen had everything that we needed to make our own meals.

noisy neighbors and users of access point to sound in the middle of the night

On the plus side, the main room provides stunning sunset views across the sound. The kitchen is reasonably well equipped. We brought everything we needed, and so the complete absence of any spices or really anything else you'd find in a kitchen was not an issue. Having to bring our own towels was also just a minor nuisance. However, one of the neighboring properties was essentially a frat house with loud music and lots of F bombs. In their defense, they did quiet down at around 11 pm. Next, to the house is the access point to the sound for the neighborhood. Most users were conscientious, and I didn't mind too much the parents and the screaming toddler playing in the sound right in front of the house in the late afternoon/ evening. However, others were bringing the fishing poles, set themselves up right in front of the house playing their music - one guy showed up on two consecutive nights at 2 am. His bright head light shone straight into our bedroom and his signing (night 1) and transistor radio (night 2) woke us up. Don't expect any tranquility. Great place, if you want to be loud and obnoxious - you'll fit right in.

Traveling with teens is tricky. This home offered plenty for everyone to do. The sunsets are amazing. And the convenience to the water is ideal. My only wish would have been for a gas grill and quieter neighbors. But, overall, a great home and vacation.

Great Place to Relax

Everything was great, barring a minor incident with our neighbors on the shared dock/pier. There was some form of miscommunication between the owner of our residence and the owner of the residence behind us regarding the shared dock. The property manager was clear throughout the trip and prior to the trip that we were granted shared access, however the owner of the residence behind us was telling their tenants that it was not shared. This is should have been ironed out before we went down. Everything about this place was great. Thanks Chi. Can’t wait to come back again.

Great vacation home

This property was the perfect rental home for our families vacation getaway. The view of the sound was magnificent, especially in the evenings watching the sunset from the deck or even the living room! The owner was quick to respond to any questions I had. Outdoor lover’s paradise

This is our second year staying at Sound Seclusion and it was amazing! My husband and I especially enjoyed the 2 SUP’s while my teens fished off the dock in the evenings. The sunsets are spectacular! The house is clean and well equipped. The hot tub is a nice bonus. The uncrowded beach is within walking distance and all town shops are within biking distance. During this stay we discovered that there are bioluminescent organisms in the sound. That was a nightly treat!

Beautiful house on the sound

Lovely setting with beautiful views over Pamlico Sound and great sunsets. We enjoyed using the included paddle boards directly from the property. The beach is about a 10 min walk along the road and then through quite a lot of sand dunes, but we used the nearby vehicle beach access most of the time - well worth the $50 permit if you have 4x4 or AWD. The interior is well appointed and comfortable - one minor quibble was no replacement toilet rolls we ended up using two of our own, but overall an excellent experience. We were sorry to leave.

Breathtaking Views

Beds had hair in them and floors and counter tops were dirty. No fun cleaning up when you arrive for vacation. Could have been better but wasn't too awful bad. The view is awesome and the paddleboards and other extras are great to have .

Great low key location

Great location with easy access to bags head, Roanoke island, Frisco, and Avon. Great spot to tour lighthouses and do some birdwatching. We really enjoyed night fishing from the dock and watching the kite and wind surfers. Clean house with everything you need plus a bit more. Only recommendation would be to screen in a porch and add a table and chairs for outdoor dining.

kiting vacation

We enjoyed our break at the Outer Banks largely due to the place we stayed at. It was right on the water and very peaceful. If you are a kiteboarder, you'll feel right at home as it is likely that your neighbors are also kiting. The back yard can be used to launch though you have to be careful to steer clear of the sandbags and barriers to prevent erosion. All in all, a good time was had by us all.

Location

The view of the sound is excellent and sunsets are spectacular! Owner had SUP we could use and my 7 and 10 year olds motored arounds on it and has a great time in the bay. The house was very clean well maintained and a lot of fun. Great place and can’t wait to come back!

Wonderful stay!

Two friends and I had an amazing stay in Salvo! The views from the home are incredible - it feels like you are right on top of the water. House is comfortable with lots of deck space. Very well stocked kitchen too which is always very helpful. Would absolutely stay again!!

Clean and great location.

Great place. The living room view makes one feel as though you're in a ship out on the sound. Very clean. Excellent location for watching birds and doing or watching water sports. Stunning sunsets. Owner was accessible and helpful. Not "luxe" but highly recommend all things considered.
