Short weekend trip

Beautiful area, responsive hosts. The bed is more comfortable than most of VRBOs we have stayed. The turkeys, horses and Bud the dog were great. Just know as you are driving in you will pass some gates that say private property-keep going, lol. Once we figured this out we felt much better, but at night it was a little unnerving. Overall great place to stay and would stay again.

Peaceful!

Clean, comfortable cabin in the trees looking across the pasture. Loved the small stream gurgling past the front porch. Enjoyed seeing the deer and turkeys going by. Thanks Dori and Randy for a great stay!

Great small retreat in the mountains

This was a wonderful place to spend a "socially distanced" Thanksgiving week with my husband and our German Shepherd dog Frejya. Cabin was clean and cozy, kitchen was well equipped, our hosts were wonderful, including their dog Bud, an friendly and playful Anatolan Shepherd. We enjoyed walking around the 20 acres that surround the cabin. Wildlife spotting was fun too. Altitude is above 3,000 feet so we had snow and were lucky to have just about freezing temperatures. We plan to return in the spring to enjoy warmer temps and longer walks.

About the host

Hosted by Dori Bock

Host profile image
We are Randy and Dori Bock, with our Anatolian, Bud. With our love of horses, cattle, and ranching as a way of life, we came up to this country in 1996 from Wyoming. We've been managing a cattle & guest ranch since the start of our time in Montana. Purchasing our place in 2000, which is adjacent to the guest ranch we've been working with since 1999, we are ever dabbling in its improvements. We now have the two guest cabins and another newly renovated next to our fishing ponds.

We know this country very well and whether you are riding, hiking, driving, boating, back country skiing, we can point you to some spectacular remote places accessible from our place. We'd love to share it with you!

Why they chose this property

This location is prime for horseback riding. Close to many uncrowded lakes and rivers for fly fishing, and water sports including paddle boarding, and kayaking. Photography opportunities, mountain biking, snow shoeing and back country skiing in the winter.

What makes this property unique

We love how accessible this country is by horseback. Abandoned old logging roads, and open country allow you to see beautiful open meadows, and endless expanses of remote mountain ranges. The spectacular Cabinet Wilderness Area can be seen from our valley's mountain sides and tops.
