This is a lovely home in a quiet neighborhood (Kensington) which is very close to most of the major attractions in San Diego. The owners couldn't have been more helpful, and their home is a wonderful choice for a family vacation or reunion. You can't go wrong renting this house.

After visiting the home, we made plans for our friends to stay!

We arranged this stay for our friends from France in July 2011. We, and they, were delighted with the home. It was comfortable, conveniently located, beautifully maintained and met their needs in every way. The owner was extremely helpful and made every effort to make their visit a enjoyable one. Indeed I do recommend the home and we certainly hope that our friends and family will be able to stay there in the future. Margaret La Mesa

Hilldale Home

This home is beautiful and immaculately maintained inside and out. It was home away from home for 6 days, warm and inviting. Everything we needed. Communication with the owner was excellent. She was attentive and helpful. I’m so grateful for this wonderful experience. I definitely would recommend this to anyone staying in Kensington and hope to reserve it again on our next trip to San Diego.

Great house, location and owners!

This was our second stay. We were visiting family in Kensington. The home is a charming bungalow with updated kitchen and bathrooms. It is very comfortable and the backyard patio is quite nice as well. Kensington is a great neighborhood, inland from downtown San Diego and the beaches. It is right off Hwy 15 and provides easy to access other areas in San Diego. Marie-france and her husband are quite lovely and attentive to every detail. We will defintely stay again next time we are in San Diego - highly recommend!

Lovely Stay

This was a wonderful home to stay in located in lovely neighborhood of Kensington. The house and yard were even better in person. The homeowner was very attentive to all of our needs and readily available if we had any questions. We would gladly look forward to renting again from Marie-France should there be an opportunity in the future. She was very prompt in returning our deposit as well...we felt like we made a friend! Wonderful, relaxing 10 days in San Diego's Kensington neighbourhood

Our family of 5 adults and one child enjoyed a wonderful vacation at this vacation rental. Everything we needed was found in the home including a central location to attractions and highway access to all points. We have travelled extensively and stayed in many VRBOs but have truly not experienced the hospitality and attention to detail to a degree that we found here. We loved starting the days drinking our coffee in the bougainvillea-filled back garden watching the hummingbirds. The neighborhood and it's restaurants are not to be missed and made a nice change from eating in the real tourist areas. San Diego is one of our favorite places to be and this home made the stay even more special. Thank you, marie-france.

Lovely property!

This property is in a wonderful area of San Diego. Kensington is family oriented with lots of people out and about during the day. The home is relaxed with a restful dining area outside. All rooms are inviting and cozy. Delightful tiling in bathrooms and kitchen add to the experience of California living. Everything we could need in the kitchen was supplied as well as towels and guides for the area. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting Marie-France and Gerald Gaucher; Gerald even came at 9:30 PM for assistance with computer issues! Wonderful home and grand host and hostess!

A great location for visiting the San Diego area's attraction

I spent a week here with my family and we enjoyed our stay. The kitchen was beautifully redone and capable of cooking great meals. It came fully stocked with cooking utensils and all the needed supplies. My son enjoyed playing the piano and having 2 large TV's was great for all our kids. One of the biggest advantages of the property is its location and ease of getting around San Diego. It seemed that most places where easily 15 to 30 minutes away, dependent on traffic and the time of day. It is a very quiet neighborhood and much nicer than staying in a hotel next to commercial properties. This added immensely to the relaxed atmosphere of our trip and would recommend this over any hotel for the money. The owners were very accommodating and helpful.

We stayed in this lovely ...

We stayed in this lovely home for 11 nights in July/August 2009 with our 1 and 3 year old daughters for a family vacation. I was responsible for arranging our accommodations and my wife gave me accolades for finding such a great place. While it is in a quiet neighborhood, it is very conveniently located near both a North/South and an East/West freeway, making it very easy to get anywhere. Indeed, everything seemed to be only a few minutes away. It was also possible to walk to several good restaurants, Starbucks, etc. The home is very well equipped with an upscale kitchen. The backyard was wonderful -- a spacious, gated area for the kids to play. The brand new gas grill was used quite a bit for dinners on the back patio. The owner, Marie-France, was a pleasure and went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable. We would highly recommend this place to a similarly sized family.

Wonderful home, wonderful owners and you can't beat the neighborhood!

My family of 5 rented this home over Thanksgiving holiday to be close to relatives in the Kensington area. This home greatly exceeded our expectations! My husband and I shared the master bedroom, my 10 and 17 y.o. the trundle bed, and my 19 y.o. had the futon in the office to himself. The home is immaculate and extremely comfortable. While exuding the charm of a 1928 Spanish bungalow, the updated bathrooms and kitchen had every modern convenience (high end appliances and granite countertops in the spacious kitchen). The owner of the property is incredibly thoughtful and has paid great attention to every detail insuring that her guest have the most comfortable stay possible. I highly recommend this property and the Kensington area - great neighborhood to walk around in, fun cafes several blocks away, and close to everything in the San Diego area!

What a wonderful place to stay!!!

We traveled to San Diego for our daughters graduation from SDSU. We needed a place that was close to everything. What we found was a charming Spanish style home in a unique area known as Kensington. The home and area were perfect! The homeowner couldn't have been more pleasant to talk with, and when we arrived there was even a graduation card waiting for our daughter. If you enjoy cooking the kitchen is modern and spacious, and we found ourselves spending a great deal of our time enjoying the spacious backyard. If you enjoy eating out try the local restaurants, you will not be disappointed. Will we be back? Absolutely :)

Beautiful Spanish Home in the Kensington Charming Neighborhood

The house was just beautiful. Marie-France left everything in perfect order for us. She was thoughtful enough to even think of the dogs with water bowls, bags and balls. The kitchen had everything one could possibly need and more. The entire house was clean and homey. It is truly a beautiful Spanish home. We enjoyed our stay. The owner treated us as special guests. I would say we had excellent customer service from her.

Great Kensington Neighborhood Base in San Diego

This home is situated in Kensington, one of the nicest neighborhoods in San Diego. Restaurants and groceries are withing walking distance and it is a short drive to most places via surface streets or freeways. This Southern California bungalow, in its classic architectural style, is well maintained with a modern kitchen. It is a beautiful, quiet retreat for a family, a couple, or two couples.. We were there with a group of six (grand parents, parents, and kids). The house has everything necessary for cooking inside or grilling outside. The living room is comfy, with a piano as an extra bonus. Yes, would go back in a minute and highly recommend it.

Kensington retreat

This was a wonderful home for a family rental. The backyard was a perfect retreat. The house was immaculate and the location was ideal. The neighborhood was very safe and the parking was perfect. It was in walking distance to several eateries and easy freeway access. The homeowners are fantastic and made sure everything was very welcoming. We highly recommend staying here.

Bay Area Family and Friends San Diego Vacation

This property was even more incredible than the pictures reflect! Though the photos do capture a part of the appeal of this rental, the neighborhood charm, historic feel and gorgeous accents to this fully stocked home, in such close proximity with ease of access to every local attraction and it's gracious hosts truly made our vacation enjoyable and quite memorable! The very fair price certainly also allowed the group to play more. The golf, nearby eateries, breweries, zoo and Gaslamp District nightlife were enjoyed by all. I would highly recommend this property to family and friends. Thank you again for the hospitality! Sincerely, CA

Lovely home in a great neighborhood

We stayed in this charming 1920's-era beautifully renovated classic California bungalow the first week in April 2011. The photos on the website are accurate but don't capture the true charm of this house with its architectural detail and lovely decor. The house has a pretty backyard with a covered sitting area where we spent a lot of time. It also has a sweet front porch - perfect for having coffee or a glass of wine in the afternoon. The only thing more charming than the house itself is its owner. Marie-france could not have been more helpful or thoughtful. She is a delightful person to meet and correspond with. Our son and his family live two blocks away which is one of the reasons we chose this house. For those of you who are unfamiliar with San Diego, Kensington is considered one of the more desirable areas in the city, and is centrally located making the travel time to all tourist attractions minimal. Freeway access to everything is just a few blocks away. We would definitely stay here again and can whole-heartedly recommend this house.
