Welcome to Sailors Cottage, perched on a knoll overlooking Coral Bay and beyond to the British Virgin Islands, Sailors Cottage is your perfect family vacation getaway.
Wake up to a beautiful sunrise over the tranquil Caribbean Sea. Spend your day hiking or relaxing on a pristine National Park beach. Then come home to unwind on the well appointed pool deck, BBQ, take a dip in the pool, and relax with a cocktail while you relive the day’s adventures and watch the boats sail in to moor for the night.
Sailors Cottage is a 5 minute drive to all the shops and restaurants Coral Bay has on offer, but is just far enough away to feel private and away from it all. We are 15 to 20 minutes to the North Shore Beaches, SaltPond on the south shore and Hansen and Haulover on the East side.
Sailors Cottage is is a stone home with nautical accents. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to enjoy a meal at home and there is even a dishwasher to help with the clean up. The water is triple filtered and UV treated, so no need for plastic bottles. The property is beautifully landscaped with many different types of palms and lots of colorful flowers.
Come stargaze at Sailors Cottage and enjoy beautiful St John in a quiet neighborhood far away from the hustle of daily life.
The property offers 2 bedrooms, one is a primary king suite with a bathroom, the second bedroom is more of a kids bunk room with 2 twin beds. Both bedrooms have AC units for a great nights sleep. There is a second full bathroom in the main living area. (If you are looking for 2 couples, we have another rental called Blue Kai which offers 2 king suites)
We are kid friendly, but do want to point out that the bedrooms are on the lower level and both have exterior entrances. While the doors are very close, this may not be the best for very young children. The pool is on the upper level with the main living areas, the stairs between the 2 levels are exterior stairs and it is not possible to lock off access to the pool. We have had children of all ages stay with us and we leave it to your comfort level and discretion.
The road to this property is mostly gravel with a few paved sections. It is a bit adventurous and we recommend a Jeep or something similar, it is not dangerous but you will need a bit of ground clearance.

Absolutely great
We had fantastic time at the property and are very glad we stayed with Kimberley. The property is as described and we had everything we needed. The kitchen and living are at the upper floor connected to the patio and the pool. The views from the upper floor are absolutely fabulous. One cannot get enough. We took dozen of pictures from the patio: sunrise, day, sunset and night views. The kitchen is well equipped, nothing was missing. There are also some basic “supplies” available: salt, spices, etc. It has a standard (large) fridge with freezer. The living room is very pleasant and cozy. We used the bbq regularly. Two bedrooms on the lower floor are equipped with AC, one is smallish, the other of generous size. We did not mind much since we did not spend much time there. You mostly live outside. Small garden around the house is nice. We very much appreciated that Kim provided us with beach chairs and coolers. There is a small grocery store at the foot of the hill on the way to the property. It looks shabby at first glance but learned to like it. In previous reviews guests mentioned the approach to the house. I dismissed them as “those city drivers”. I apologize guys, you were right, it is quite a rough, gravel and rock, drive. It is manageable, but one definitely needs an off-road car. Kim is a great host, she responded to our request promptly and was very helpful throughout the stay. Thanks a mil.

Peaceful island retreat
This house was exactly what we were hoping for. Tranquil atmosphere with an amazing view. Very clean and stocked with pretty much everything you'll need. Kim was a great host and very quick to respond to text messages. Highly recommended.

Stunning place and fantastic host!
My wife, daughter and I stayed at this beautiful property for a week, loving every second of it! Kim, the host, was fantastic - excellent with her communication, very responsive and helpful, ready to answer any of my questions and make suggestions for places to eat and things to do. The property was perfect - a stunning view, comfortable inside and out. We loved the pool, as a great spot to relax when we were at the house, and I loved having a cup of coffee next to it in the mornings before we started our day. The house had everything I needed for the occasions when I was making breakfast or dinner, and the living room was a great place to relax in the evening, too! We have been to the island 4 times now, staying in different places each time, and this was definitely the best! We were sad to leave, but eager to come back!

A great honeymoon getaway
The house was wonderful and Kim was so accommodating. She met us on the way and showed us how to get to the house then explained all her recommendations for things to do. Very easy to communicate with. We texted her throughout the trip for suggestions. Only thing to note is the hill to get the house is quite rough and rocky. Her note about needing a jeep is legit and took a confident driver to navigate the hill. The bedrooms do require you to go outside from the rest of the house. Not a make or break for us but thought it was worth noting. Overall I do highly recommend this place as it was perfect for our get away. Coral bay is so relaxing with fun places to go real close by.

Escaped the January freeze in the States
This was our fourth trip to St. John, and we love Coral Bay on the quiet side of the island. This house did not disappoint as the view is amazing! The house was clean and had everything we needed. We took advantage of the cookware and prepared several dinner meals. Communication with Kim was excellent. She met us In Coral Bay to show us the house, and was flexible with our arrival time after our flight was late getting to St. Thomas and being delayed & further by lost baggage. We would gladly stay at this house again.

The view….
The house was absolutely perfect for us. It was our first time in St John, and we got lucky when we picked this place. The owner, Kim, was very helpful. She gave us a lot of information, and she checked in during our stay. The view is really something. My morning coffee will never be as good from here on out after drinking it from the deck while looking out over Coral Bay. The location turned out to be excellent as we decided after a few days of exploration that we preferred the vibe on the East End. AC in the rooms was great for sleeping. The kitchen had everything we needed. The towels, chairs, and coolers were used daily and a great addition to our beach trips. I won’t hesitate to stay here again when we go back!

Wonderful cottage and superb host!
Kim is outstanding and communicated with us regularly. She was very helpful even when we had to make a minor adjustment due to flight schedule issues. The cottage is well outfitted and she has thought of everything to make your stay relaxed. The property is well maintained and we had zero issues. The location is beautiful but to get to it requires a jeep, you definitely want to rent a jeep or similar 4WD vehicle. The view of Coral Bay is worth the drive.

A little slice of heaven
The view of Coral Bay was wonderful. It was away from the hustle and bustle of Cruz Bay but within 30 minutes of all the sights we took in while there. Kim, our host was very helpful and available if needed. The kitchen was fully stocked and included the little extras like salt and pepper and some condiments. Even the showers had shampoo and conditioner! As described, the downstairs master bedroom has AC, the upstairs living area and kitchen got a little warm, but Kim told us where the box fan was and that helped. You need to rent a jeep to get up to the place as the last 1/4 mile of road is rugged.

AMAZING!
What an amazing experience! Kim is the best!! She answered all of our questions prior to arrival in a very timely manner and made the vacation so easy from the time we landed to the time we arrived and checked in. She is very knowledgeable about the area and gave us spot on recommendations for food, activities, beaches, etc.. The house was perfect for the 4 of us (2 Adults and 2 Children ages 7 and 9). Extremely clean and close to town and had everything you could need. Kim even got us some Easter eggs and chocolate since we were there on Easter and knew we had kids. The description and the reviews are all spot on. We are already trying to book our next trip back. HIGHLY RECOMENDED!

Amazing Views
Beautiful little villa, better than advertised! The hosts are incredibly hospitable and helpful and made our stay so easy. The views are unbeatable, and the access is central to north shore beaches, east end, south shore. Will definitely stay again if we ever come back!

We loved St. John!
My sister and her husband, as well as me and my husband took our first trip to St. John. Kim's Cottage was the perfect property! With all the breathtaking views of Coral Bay, markets/restaurants close by, and all the amenities we could ask for -- we had an incredible, memorable week. Kim is very communicative, the property was exactly as we expected/saw on the booking, and we loved our stay. We can't wait to be back!

Coral Bay stone cottage
This is an outstanding rental for a family of 3-4, or two couples. The pool deck and view are just as wonderful as it appears in the photos, and the breeze is refreshing. The home is spotless and comfortable, well-equipped in the kitchen and with beach gear (chairs, towels, noodles, snorkel sets). Kim is readily available for any questions. Yes the final drive up the hill is very bumpy, but it’s only 5 minutes off of the paved road. The Coral Bay side of St. John is chill and still easy to access all the favorite north side and east end beaches; we especially enjoyed Hansen Bay, Annaberg ruins, and the Rams Head trail near sunset. This cottage is an excellent home base and I recommend it 100%.

We LOVED our stay. The property is beautiful, clean, and is super organized with everything you need for a family (lots of towels, coolers, swim noodles, etc). AMAZING
We had the best time staying in this beautiful property in Coral Bay. The house and the grounds were just perfect and everything our family of 3 needed. The bedrooms are separate from each other and the rest of the house which we enjoyed as my 8 year old loved having the privacy of her own room. Seriously the best experience we’ve had with a vacation rental EVER. Kim is the most hospitable host. We had such a pleasant experience and plan to come back again! The road in was such a fun adventure and yes a jeep is necessary but it made it all the worth while with that gorgeous view to enjoy all week. Seriously 10/10 and have shouted from the rooftops to our friends and fam about the most amazing experience we’ve ever had.

I moved to the Virgin Islands almost 30 years ago and worked as a hotel pastry chef and as a chef on charter boats. Sailing and baking are my passion. I pursued my baking passion first, opening Baked in the Sun in Cruz Bay in 2000. It was a great 10 years of baking for friends, family and visitors on St John. In 2010 I sold the bakery to 2 of the employees and prepared for the next adventure, a sail around the world! We left in 2012 myself, my husband David and our then 6 year old son Zack onboard our 44 foot sailboat “Flour Girl “It was an amazing 5 year adventure, we visited many countries, made amazing friends along the way, and had the adventure of a lifetime. We sailed back into Cruz Bay on June 6th 2017 and it was still the most beautiful and magical place we had ever been! There was a little blip there in September and we lost our sailboat “Flour Girl”. But, life goes on, and we purchased Sailors Cottage and we spend our days living the adventure that is St John.
