About this property

Firehouse House, Orchard Beach

Abbondanza at Orchard Beach, is a compound of three available cabins, on two separate lots next to each other. All three cabins all have full bathrooms, clawfoot tubs and showers in two of the three.
The Church is a charming sleeping cabin, with a small freezer and refrigerator. there is a clawfoot tub and shower, in the full sized bathroom. It has an amazing view as well.
This is a quiet beach community tucked away on the Pickering Passage called Orchard Beach on Walker Landing.
What I have done personally is build cosy cabins, wrapped in pine, from floor to ceiling, installed tons of windows. They are lit with chandeliers, recessed lights and lamps all on dimmers, even the outdoor lights have dimmers, that will go down to candlelight settings if you like. Antique furniture, Persian rugs, high ceilings, everything you could need in the kitchen.
We pride ourselves in the highest quality 100% cotton linens, goose down comforters, and great towels. The kitchen is fully equipped, Air Fry oven range, Bosch dishwasher, toaster oven, microwave, toaster oven, and coffee maker. There is an outdoor grille that can be used by the guests as well.
There are two separate lots at Abbondanza. The Firehouse about two hundred feet from the water on the south lot. The Church and Captains Cabin are on the North lot. They share the path and staircase down to the water, where two kayaks wait for a paddle on the sound.
The Captains' Cabin, is listed on VRBO # 1474169.

Very cute place

This place is very cute and comfortable and worked great for my son and me. It was better than I expected as it had a few features not advertised: 1. a sofabed 2. use of 4 kayaks An enjoyable stay.

Perfectly perfect in every way

Anniversary getaway for two nights, private beach, fishing, crabbing, kayaking, fireplace. Peace, quiet, reflection, waves across a pebbled shore.... Perfect.

Everything we needed and more!

My partner and I enjoyed a lovely stay at the Firehouse for a 3 day getaway late June, 2021. It was peaceful, clean, perfectly stocked with everything we needed, and simply beautiful! Ray was a fantastic host, responding promptly to any and all of our questions via text or call leading up to the stay and throughout. When there was a slight booking error on the VRBO app, Ray personally called me to sort out our arrival and accommodate us a day early at the same rate to ensure we could still come to the cabin. The property is stunning and the cabin is storybook adorable. We also met Kathy one of the other property managers who was very kind. Highlights were kayaking on the Pickering Passage, being within a 1.5 hour drive to hikes in Olympic National Park, fresh oysters over the fire, and getting to use the sauna since the other cabins on the property were not occupied during our last night. Thanks so much, Ray, for a magical stay!!

Slice of Heaven

Words cannot describe how spectacular our experience was at Ray’s property. We had the absolute pleasure of meeting him and his son, and they couldn't have been kinder people. The background of the property is very special and can be felt as you walk around. Every detail has been expertly chosen and more amenities than were expected. Besides the physical property, the location is unbelievable. We even got to observe around 20 seals playing on the private beach. Needless to say, it was an honor staying here and even a greater honor making friends with the extraordinary owners. It was a weekend we will never forget.

Abbondanza is wonderfully tranquil, offers all I love about PNW.

Abbondanza is a collection of artfully decorated buildings carefully laid out on a plot of land along Pickering Passage, all with guest privacy in mind. I slept and prepared meals in the cabin nestled along bank directly above water and private beach accessed by carefully laid path and stairs. Cabin faces East and benefits from ever-changing light streaming through the most impressive array of windows and French doors. The sleeping cabin named The Church features an impressive copper cupola. Large antique doors provide entry to a room featuring a comfortable queen-size bed set atop antique, cast iron bed frame, and even more East-facing windows including stained glass. There is a gloriously relaxing sauna set between The Church and third structure appropriately named the Firehouse as it once served as the firehouse to this wonderful little beach community. Firehouse is a stand alone house providing full bath, kitchen, dining area, wood-burning stove, and warm and comfortable queen bed. Abbondanza is wonderfully tranquil, offers beautiful views of quintessential PNW water, islands and sky and is highly recommended by this traveler, seeker of all things offering comfort.

I grew up in Tacoma. Graduated from Stadium High School. I played sports and went to college to play football. After the first four years of college I went for another four at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Upon graduating I was offered a teaching position. I taught there for twelve years. I met my wife and raised our three boys in Pasadena. We love the property and decided we wanted to share it, so we decided to list it with VRBO and AirB&B.

Why they chose this property

I fell in love with this property which I know they say you're not suppose to do. I couldn't help it and I am still in love with it only more so. There isn't anything not to like, about it. I named it Abbondanza after my friend looked at me with a lit cigar in one hand and a drink in the other, over looking the Pickering Passage, said declaratively, in Italian, "Abbondanza!". Real drawn out. It made me laugh with joy and still does. Try it when you're there and you'll get why the name stuck. {ah' bone don za}

What makes this property unique

It's QUIET! It's magical, the water, the landscaping, flowers everywhere, over a hundred trees, a rock staircase leading to the beach, where the Kayaks are waiting to take you on an adventure. The interiors are warm, inviting, designed to make you comfortable, relaxed, and filled with joy. It's fully equipped with everything you need. If there is something else you think it needs please let us know.
