About this property

Warm and Welcoming Family-Friendly Victorian, Quiet Neighborhood

Bring the whole family to stay in a residential setting close to downtown! This Victorian home is ~3,000 sq ft with ultra-high speed FiOS internet and 6 Smart TVs. Enjoy a 19th century Pittsburgh home with all the modern comforts.

To be certain that our home is a good fit for your stay please read our House Rules and send us a message before booking.

Guests are expected to honor the House Rules. No events/parties allowed, only booked guests can be there at any time.

Lets get you the details on the house itself. With 5 bedrooms boasting a total of 8 beds and nearly 3,000 square feet, you and your group will have plenty of private spaces to wind down, or gather in the spacious common areas. Since there are 3 stories to this home, early birds get their choice of unique mattresses with different firmness levels to ensure a comfortable and quiet night's sleep.

- Master bedroom: The lucky guests who claim this entire 3rd floor for their stay will get to enjoy a California King bed, a day bed with a trundle, their own private living room with a 65" smart TV and even a study/play area for kids.
- Our second floor includes 3 comfortable bedrooms, each with queen beds and Smart TVs. We also offer a 4th (children's) bedroom with a twin over full bunk bed that sleeps up to 3. Be sure to take note of charming details like the hand-painted fireplace tiles and views of the friendly neighborhood. The second floor also has a centrally located updated full bathroom.
- Living room: Relax in the comfort of an old-world parlor, only this one has a wall-mounted 55" smart TV.
- Dining room: Since the bedrooms can hold so many people in comfort, so should the dining room. Surrounded by original cabinets and fireplace, this room can easily serve a party of 12 all at once by having 8 guests at the main table with an additional 4 at our side table.
- Kitchen: What good would such a large dining room be without the kitchen to go with it? The stainless appliances in the chef's kitchen (microwave, fridge, oven, keurig, french press, toaster, toaster oven, blender and dishwasher) are sure to give you everything you'll need for a meal worthy of a wonderful stay. The gas oven alone features a commercial hood, broiler, griddle and heat lamps to keep everything nice and toasty.
- 3 season porch: Expand the living room through the double doors into the bright and sunny 3 season porch. A great place to enjoy your morning coffee.
- Office: Even when we travel, we still have to have a private place to get work done. Here you can look out on the backyard through the bay windows while staying productive.
- Outside: The flat, elevated corner lot is a great private place to grill or play with the family in the backyard.

The entire house and outdoor space of the property is available to guests excepting some storage and supply areas that are locked off.

I'm committed to doing whatever I can to make your stay the best it can be. I absolutely love this city and would be delighted to share with you some of my favorite restaurants, museums, parks or attractions. I respect your privacy and will communicate as little or as much as you wish.

The home is less than a mile from shopping, restaurants, and grocery stores, but is a quiet and friendly area to walk the neighborhood sidewalks.

Please do what you can to keep the number of vehicles parked at the home to fewer than 4. If additional parking is needed, please contact me so we can arrange a solution.

Located in between downtown and the airport, you have an easy commute either way. The best South Hills shopping districts are a short drive or bus ride with a bus stop less than one block from the house.

This Victorian is set in a friendly residential neighborhood, away from noisy businesses and roads, but convenient to the best shopping areas in the South Hills, night-life on Carson Street, River's Casino, and sports Stadiums on the North Shore along with all the excitement and architecture of downtown. For business travelers, you'll find one of the easiest commutes to downtown through the "West End" while being a short drive further west to the airport.

Whether you're in town for business in the region's high tech world, or on a family trip, you'll enjoy this beautiful, classic Pittsburgh home. Enjoy a quiet neighborhood feel while being less than 20 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from The Point, downtown, Acrisure Stadium, PNC Park and River's Casino!

The driveway has recently been expanded. Please use the driveway whenever possible and leave one space available nearest the garage for our tenant next door.

I'm available to help make your stay the best it can be, but the level of communication is entirely up to you. It is always my pleasure to make suggestions on where to go and what to do - from museums to my favorite walkable streets.

You will also receive a guidebook three days before check-in with recommendations and instructions for the appliances in the home.

Please be sure to click the "heart" to save this home to your wishlist. Check out my other listings as well.

Pittsburgh VRBO Christmas 2024

Cozy beautiful older Victorian home. This accommodated our large Christmas gathering of 8 occupants (sleeping arrangements) and accommodated 5 more people for the main meals.Things that need improvement: 1. The bed mattresses are worn and have created “bed occupant memory” soft spots, We purchased our own bath hotels, hand towels, wash clothes at local SAM’s club as the wash Cloths were too thin and we could not find any hand towels. The height of the outdoor steps made it challenging for elderly family members. A few white dinner table chairs are weakened in the backside /hip support area and need to be updated.Overall we had an amazing time with family. Thank you Andrew

Pittsburgh trip

We liked the house. There was plenty of room for everyone and it wasn’t very far from downtown Pittsburgh area. We enjoyed a Pittsburgh Steelers, Sunday game while we there and had a great time!! The new grocery store, The giant eagle, was right down the road, and it was really nice too!

Quaint Victorian

There are VERY few places in Pittsburgh that can accommodate larger groups and I think I've stayed in all of them :) This property is definitely suitable for larger groups or larger family visits. It's not a "vacation" stay in the sense that there aren't attractions in the home (ie no hot tub, no game room etc). BUT the rooms are very well appointed with great mattresses and plenty of extra space (the master bedroom is very spacious). And most importantly for those coming the summer - the AC system is fantastic! The host was great to communicate with and our stay could not have been easier. Oh! A huge huge bonus is a private parking lot adjacent to the home. Many Pittsburgh neighborhoods have a miniscule amount of parking and if you're coming with 3 or 4 parties of people in their own cars, parking can be a major issue. Not here! Also, the home has a lovely wrap around porch which is great for morning coffee.

Pitt Panthers Parents weekend

The house was all that was advertised and more. We had a group of nine, you know friends that are your chosen family kinda deal. There was three couples, one single, a 21 year old and a 7 year old there was plenty of space for all of us at ALL times. There was Roku TVs in all the bedrooms and family room with live TV options as well. There was plenty of room for us to sit at the dining room table to enjoy meals together and lots of seating options for watching TV or a movie as a group. The kitchen had plenty of seasonings for cooking, cookware, cooking utensils and a good sized pantry to store your future meal prep ingredients. The home has a driveway for parking which is super convenient for Pittsburgh. This home is absolutely beautiful with the deep dark woods throughout, comfy beds and stained glass windows this home has all the character and charm of a beautiful Pittsburgh home. We would absolutely stay in this home again it's very easy to get downtown by the Stadiums, The Strip, The incline lifts, the zoo and the Universities. There is a grocery store, 711, and a package store between 5-10 mins from the home. Andrew was super helpful and responsive very quickly. I would recommend staying at this home if you have a large group and are looking for a fun time in Pittsburgh this home is perfect for memories to be made!!!

Perfect for our 3 family group

We had 3 families - kids between 11-17, everything as described and worked great for us to cook meals and the kids to run in the yard! We had space with the three levels, and the hosts responded within the hour on our requests for more towels and any other needs and questions. We were granted an early check in and out due to our flights. The house was very clean and had beautiful character with a great entry, comfortable living room and kitchen, and we really enjoyed the large yard for the kids and fire pit for evenings. Dual air conditioning for up and downstairs made it very comfortable. Close to city conveniences like grocery, gas, Starbucks, pharmacy.

Classic Pittsburgh home in established neighborhood with east access to the city

Wonderful stay in classic Pittsburgh home. We came in town for family wedding and wanted enough space for our family of five. This home has been upgraded but is best for folks who enjoy the quirks and character of an older home in an established neighborhood. There are four bedrooms on second floor and a primary bedroom on the top. Main bathroom is in the second floor and another on the ground floor (you’ll need to walk down from the top floor bedroom if you use it as your primary like we did). Easy access to downtown Pittsburgh, local neighborhoods and freeways. Fantastic porch for morning coffee. Home has dual zoned AC but unit serving upper floors is a bit loud. While not perfect, we would definitely stay here again next time we return to the Burgh!

Great stay!

We were looking for a place in the Pittsburgh area to meet friends for a long weekend of relaxation & catching-up. Andrew's place did not disappoint. The house allowed us all to have our space while at the same time providing nice common areas to gather for drinks & meals. There was plenty of room for our group of 6 to enjoy sitting on the porch or under the gazebo in the back yard. All amenities are exactly as described in the listing. We definitely enjoyed our stay!

Christmas in January

This was our halfway point for our family to meet. First time in Pittsburgh and won’t be the last because of the stay here. Andrew and Maryann were awesome and the line of communication was amazing. Bedrooms were great for the entire family and the 3rd floor bedroom was great. If you are looking for a smooth stay this is the place. Also, there is a huge lot so you don’t have to park in the street. It was a great time with memories made. Thanks again for the chocolates!

Beautiful House, We Made it A Home

Home is BEAUTIFUL! It is super spacious! We were in Pittsburgh for my brother’s wedding and it housed 4 families with no problem. We cooked for the rehearsal dinner and baked for the reception and the kitchen didn’t let us down. THE STOVE WAS TO DIE FOR! My niece is a seamstress and made several outfits during our stay and the back office was PERFECT! We finished our last night with a reflection circle around the fire pit I’m the back. So grateful for this house. Our hotel reservations were canceled abruptly and Andrew worked with us so we could secure the house. Only had one issue and he responded right away. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!

Very clean house, great location

If I need to rent in Pittsburgh again I would not hesitate renting this house or any house offered by Andrew the host. He was exceptionally quick on returning any emails and extremely helpful. The house was very clean and you cannot ask for a better location to get in and out of downtown Pittsburgh. Very local for shopping etc. If you are looking for something in the Pittsburgh area do not hesitate to jump on this home.

Pittsburgh Victorian

My father was born and raised near Crafton/Greentree. A family funeral brought up back to Pittsburgh, we wanted the conveniences of home and the ability to stay together without being on top of each other. We found this 5 bedroom home with 2 full baths - it was spacious, clean and full of character. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were updated and clean. The home also had an office on the first floor which was perfect for my husband and I to catch up on work without disturbing the kids while they slept on the 2nd floor. The owner, Andrew provided us with all the information to check-in and was immediately available and responsive when we had questions. We are already planning our next stay when we go back to Pittsburgh in May for a much happier event, our cousins wedding.

About the host

Hosted by Andrew

Host profile image
I'm Andrew, and I cannot express to you enough how happy I am to be back in my hometown of Pittsburgh. After growing up in the area's declining steel industry, and moving to New England for about 9 years, I'm finally back to the only city that ever felt like home.

I started Steel River Ventures as a way to embrace the city I love when I moved back home to Pittsburgh in 2017. Now I want to share my homes and my city with our guests! I've been fortunate enough to grow over the years along with Pittsburgh and watch it transform. With every day that passes, I discover something else about this city that I love and would be happy to share that with you.

I am more than happy to be as active a host as you'd like. By default, you as a guest will have your privacy, but I'm always available to meet and share my thoughts on the area with you. Be warned though, I love Pittsburgh and that will come through in our conversations!

My primary income is working in vocational learning technology, but I am a car guy at heart. Whenever my schedule allows, I try to get to local track events at roadcourses, auto-cross or hillclimb venues. I enjoy teaching performance driving, car control and driver safety as well. I also try to read a little (usually non-fiction), visit the gym as often as possible, and spend time with family and friends.

Why they chose this property

Since moving back to the city, I've been learning everything I can about local history and architecture, which is part of the reason I purchased this home. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, and let me know if you'd like to meet or if there is anything I can do to help make your stay the best it can be.

What makes this property unique

Some of my favorite things about this home are the variety of rooms that all provide unique attributes while being inviting and comfortable. The location is spectacular! Being in between the airport and downtown couldn't be more convenient, although as quiet as a rural neighborhood. The commute into the Golden Triangle through the West End Village avoids rush hour traffic coming to and from Pittsburgh's busy South Hills. I really enjoy the privacy of the spacious master bedroom with its own comfortable living room. The large dining room is centrally located making for a great space to bring everyone together for meals and games on the repurposed glass table.
