Centrally located a short 10 minute walk to town. The 1930 home has been totally remodeled but has kept the luster of its era with the original hardwood floors and built in linen pantry. The bathroom has in floor heated tile and a large shower stall. The rooms are tastefully decorated with the original wood floors. With a million dollar view of the Tongass Narrows you can watch cruise ships anchor, fishing boats transit and eagles hover overhead while you enjoy your morning coffee or evening drink watching the sunset. The kitchenette has a sink, mini refer, coffee maker, microwave, toaster and all the utensils and serving dishes needed for your use. Because of insurance regulations there is not a stove. The rates are for one room with 2 persons. You can rent the other two rooms for a rate of $35 per each additional guest ages 6 years and older, per night. Children 5 and younger ate $25per night. This is NOT a shared space. In other words once you make your reservation the other 2 rooms are blocked off, unless of course you reserve them, so that just you and your guest have the total area to yourselfs. This is a two story home, I live on the bottom floor and your area is the upstairs. You do have a private entrance with a cipher pad with your personal code so that you can enter or exit as you please. For your convenience you'll have access to a washer and dryer with laundry soap, bleach etc and an ironing board and iron. A hair dryer is available too. Why stay in a hotel when you can stay at a place that you'll fell like your home away from home with one of the best views in town. Two rooms have queen beds and the third room has a bunk bed with a full mattress (slightly smaller than a queen), on bottom and a single mattress on top.

This was a great location and a very nice place to stay me and three other adults stayed one night they’re on our way to salmon fishing in Craig Alaska. John was very accommodating highly recommend.
We had a fabulous stay at this property. It’s very comfortable, we slept like babies, it’s nicely located to everything in town, and John is extremely hospitable. Would definitely stay here again.
The property was great…the host was over the top great!!
Wonderful breakfasts and great conversations about the area.
We will be back and highly recommend John and Emilie.
This property is so perfect for a small group of friends or family that don’t mind going on a short walk to get to Creek Street or downtown. The views are stunning, we counted 15 Bald Eagles at one time, especially when the fishing lodge below is cleaning their catch. The owner is extremely nice and happy to help you enjoy your stay. Would highly recommend this place to stay!
The location near downtown was great, and we enjoyed the views from the upstairs porch. The kitchen and living space were just what we needed for a short stay. John was very helpful, and the property is clean and well-cared for. We would definitely stay again and recommend it to others.
John was a great host for our Bed and Breakfast stay, he served a robust breakfast for 3 days of our 7 day stay. Seven of us stayed at the property. Property has a fantastic view, eagles, float planes, fishing boats and cruise ships every day. Easy walk to downtown for the parade and dinner. Ketchikan parking is always tight so it was great to have a parking spot. Highly recommend this property.
Fantastic all the way around. Great place in ideal location with incredible view. John was an amazing host, made great breakfasts each morning that the kids raved about, and had extremely helpful advice on things to do and where to eat. Highly recommend staying here.
John went above and beyond in every aspect. We loved the property and location. The home was very clean and comfortable. John made us a great breakfast every morning and answered our million questions. We cant wait to go back!
Alaska was the 50th state for 83 yr old Dad to vist and we chose Ketchikan. Captain John was very helpful and accommodating. The place was clean, charming, and a great place for our group of 6 adults to relax and plan our excursions. The view is AMAZING! Location is perfect for our needs. I would stay here again and I highly recommended this place.
This was a great place with lots of room and a spectacular view. The host went out of his way to make us feel welcome and even served us breakfast each morning. A definite 10 star rating.
Property was just as described. John provided breakfast items for us which was a nice touch. He gave perfect instructions how to get there from airport. I would definitely would stay again. I give this property a 5 star ⭐️
So fortunate to spend a sunny week enjoying Ketchikan and the view from this comfortable location. Spent our mornings on the upper deck watching all the activity on the water and the afternoons enjoying the sights around the area. Area buses are available after a short walk down the hill. Captain John is a great host!
Jaw Dropping Panoramic View from Balcony, remote feel but within minutes to everything! Relaxing, home-feel throughout property, first class treatment by owner, didn't want to leave!!!!! Exceeded all expectations and will be back!!

We came here for the weekend to do some kayaking. John was an amazing host. It was an easy check in process. The views were beautiful. The location was perfect. We could walk to town with an easy stroll. To top it off, he made us breakfast Sunday morning. What a pleasant surprise!

Hello. My name is John and I've lived in Alaska for over 40 years. I retired from the State of Alaska six years ago as Captain on the State ferry Columbia. I like walking, hiking, cooking, traveling, meeting people and being with family.
Why they chose this property
I've had a Bed and Breakfast here for over 7 years. I enjoy meeting new guest and making their stay as enjoyable as possible. The location is perfect because its a short walk to the city center and a short walk in the other direction to Safeway, Plaza Mall and some good restaurants. The historic location, Captains Hill, was named because back in 1930's most of the homes were occupied by salmon and halibut captains. The view is to die for and it never gets old. Watching all the vessel traffic sail by, cruise ships, state ferries, fishing boats, private yachts and kayakers makes for a viewing spectacle that is just out of this world. The summer sunsets and the eagles hovering overhead makes this home, The View, one of the top rated spots to stay.
What makes this property unique
Location, location , location. You may pay a little more to stay but you get so much more for your dollar. All the amenities, location, Historic street and the fantastic view.
