Great location, perfect being right on the shore front. Kids kayaked, fished, rock hounded and walked out as far as the low tide would allow counting tons of sand dollars.
House was very clean and had the main comforts that we needed. Enjoyed the patio with all the outdoor furniture!
This cozy beach front house was perfect for our family of 6 this Thanksgiving week. Four bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a bonus room were well loved and used by girls ages 18-10. View was the BEST part, with easy beach access a 2nd... on stormy and sunny days you can see Mt. Rainier peeking out and a tiny Seattle skyline! Enjoyed Netflix, oven, coffee maker, lotsa gadgets and other household essentials like hair dryer, plenty of towels, soccer ball & board games. I have been wanting to stay on sunlight my whole life, quiet beach front, pristine! Would love to come back in summer to enjoy the large outdoor dining patio. Thank you!!
We really enjoyed good family time at the beach on Whidbey Island celebrating my wife’s birthday. Except for smoke from forest fires some distance from Whidbey Island obscuring vision, we enjoyed watching the ships pass, the gulls performing, an occasional eagle soaring past, and herons fishing in the shallow bay. We had two of the family who have disabilities and were disappointed when the owner switched the cable tv to the Basic plan without informing us. We thought the cable box needed reprogramming and spent a half day trying to contact xfinity tv who, when we finally got a live person, told us that everything was what the owner wanted. Other than that, everything was great.
This home is an ideal place for a small group with amazing beach views and access to the low tides of Useless Bay. While some of the amenities and furnishings are a little dated, everything works and the home provided an outstanding location for our nearby family reunion.
The house is older but well cared for. The location is excellent and so is the outdoor space. We didn’t find the lowest level until day 2 so be sure to check the little door by the laundry - it leads down to a great family space!
Great house. Great caretaker. Great neighbors. Great beach. Kids had a blast beach combing, paddleboarding and playing on the beach. Beautiful views and setting.
Our family really enjoyed our stay here. Useless Bay/Sunlight Beach is a very child friendly location because the waves and gentle and the water isn’t super deep. The house is well appointed and our elementary school aged kids loved the family room, too. We will be back! =)
We've been staying in this area for years and this is our new favorite house! It was a great fit for our family with teens, tweens and younger kids with plenty of space for all of us to gather and to have time away from each other... (wink!). The beds were comfortable and the house was stocked with supplies. Plus, the location can't be beat.
The location on Sunlight Beach is one of Whidbey’s best. The sunsets, ever changing tides and community vibes all create a magical destination for a weekend away. The house itself is aging but well equipped. We will be back!
Such a great little spot. Water fills your view from the living/dining area and the wonderful patio/deck is steps from the beach, so all your waking hours are oriented around the bay view. The bay is beautiful and always changing and the house fit the needs of this 5-person family perfectly, with plenty of bedrooms, but still a cozy, intimate feel. We'd love to visit again sometime!
Perfect for our family trip of all ages (grandparents to toddlers). The house is cute and well appointed for a group to be comfortable. Sand toys, chairs, etc. we would come back for sure!

Gorgeous expansive view, sandy beach and charming beach cottage
We had a fantastic stay. This was a perfect place and location for our 2 families(and 3 toddlers) total. The kids had a great time digging in the sand and playing with driftwood while we relaxed, played cornhole and went SUPing on Useless Bay. How cool to see people on horseback riding across the flatlands at low tide! Within short driving distance of cute stores and Whidbey Doughnuts, host Sara was friendly and responsive. Very clean space, toys and pantry items were also helpful.

great location, house needs work, too many problems
We rented this house for 8 days for a sister's reunion, so there were 5 adults staying there--and two who live on Whidbey that came over for dinner etc
There is ample parking for 3 SUV's. The location is terrific with fabulous views. The next door neighbors were great. One of the bathrooms is very nicely redone. The deck is large with lots of good furniture. The owner kindly let us check in early. Beyond these items we had a lot of issues.
The entry level has 2 bedrooms and a VERY small bathroom. The tub/shower surround was old, tired and moldy. The water pressure was very poor. There was NO ELECTRICAL OUTLET and initially the owner directed me to use the bedroom outlet. When I explained that my waterpik did not work in a bedroom, and a bedroom with no mirror made blowdrying/styling my hair impossible, and there was a reason we had booked a home with 2 full bathrooms, she credited us $25 a day.
The next level up is a large room with kitchen, dining table and FP seating area. The dining table seats 8 (we are small people and 10 would have been quite uncomfortable). And it is the only table in the house so we were unable to do our traditional jigsaw puzzles--even though the house has a supply of them. The kitchen is OK with a big island but minimum serving dishes and no tupperware type storage at all.. The seating area only seats 4 adults comfortably---more if you like sitting on a cement hearth or lining up on the one couch.
The next level up has 2 bedrooms and a newly redone very tight bathroom. 1 bedroom with king bed has no closet.
The firepit is a divot in the sand.
When we went to use the BBQ we discovered no propane and a tank so old it was illegal. It cost $54 to buy the house a new one for which we were reimbursed with a sorry for the inconvenience. We were just grateful the propane place was still open!
We battled ants every day in the kitchen and both downstairs bedrooms. The owner says everyone on the beach has ants.
The umbrella on the deck does not tilt so prime afternoon/early evening relaxing and dining at the very nice table is impossible unless you like sun glaring in your eyes.
This is the 4th beach house I have rented on Whidbey and I believe this house is seriously overpriced. The owner always responded quickly, but that did not help much.

Magical beachfront paradise in the PNW!
What an incredible stay we had at Sara's place! The house is well-appointed and we had everything we needed for an incredibly relaxing time. There are many thoughtful touches like high quality linens and well-stocked cooking supplies. The house is also quite clean and comfortable. The outside area is an absolute dream - we were on the beach every night, either running on the banks of sand or making a fire for yummy s'mores! And Sara was an incredibly gracious host - very responsive and genuinely kind. What are you waiting for? Go make some amazing memories in this wonderful beach cabin!

Great Stay
We had a great stay. We really lucked out on a perfect weather weekend which made it wonderful. The view is fantastic. The bedrooms are good sized. We had really low tides which was really fun so good time of year. The playroom is really great even though we didn't really use it. It could use some newer updated skillets to use. The living room space is a little small for a family of 6 or 7 and with kids, but we made it work fine. When it's nice out your busy outside most of the time anyway. We would definitely rent again. The landlords check in with you which is really great. Thank you Susan.

Thanksgiving on the Beach
We fully enjoyed our stay on Whidbey. We booked it for my family over the Thanksgiving holiday. It was the perfect size for three couples and two kids. The kids loved the beach and the large selection of games and puzzles. Being it Thanksgiving, we did come prepared with a few specialty kitchen items, but the house is well equipped for any typical meal. We had such a relaxing time on the beach when the sun came out and by the fireplace in the evenings.

About the host
Hosted by Patti Schuller
We are five siblings, 3rd generation owners. Our grandparents built this cabin in 1962 after searching for the perfect spot for their vacation home. Growing up, we were blessed to visit this amazing place every summer. Many amazing family vacations and celebrations have been had here, making some of our fondest memories. We are all married now with children of our own, who are now making wonderful memories on beautiful Sunlight Beach. It is a very special place for us and we are excited for it to become a special place for you and your family as well!
Why they chose this property
This is one of the best spots on the beach! There are beautiful views from both the front and back of the property and it is right on the beach. Just a few steps and a short staircase to get to the sand. Bonfires and s'mores on the beach, walking tide flats for what seems like miles, collecting seashells, watching the Eagles fly above you, clam digging, crabbing, sand castle or fort building, Bocce ball on the lawn, whatever your mood. It's a place where both adults and children will fall in love.
What makes this property unique
Right on the water, beachfront access, and views in every direction. Short drive to the town of Langley known for it's art, historic buildings, boutiques, casual and fine dining with views of the sound, and fabulous bakeries and coffee shops.
