BURDEN'S END in OIB - 3 minutes to sand!

Life is too short to be structured all the time, so come visit Burden’s End for a week, a month, or just a long weekend. Being so close to the beach (under 3 minutes to sand!) is priceless!!

Some of our amenities:
• Stand-alone home, 4 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, and an outdoor shower with hot and cold water. Floor plan is in the pics to get a feel for the flow
• Beds are made with 1500 thread count sheets. You drive up, unload, and start enjoying your guests, No beds to make!
• Outdoor shower is not just for rinsing off the sand. Hot and cold water expands your showers to 4.
• Both a coffee pot and a 1 cup Keurig coffee maker for the few and the many. Bring your favorite brew
• Ninja Blender for those beach drinks you have been dreaming about
• Super well stocked kitchen from the huge shrimp boil pot to the boiling eggs size and everything in between, leave yours at home
• Casserole baking dishes, utensils, plates, and glasses for all. And a dishwasher that runs like a charm so you don’t have to worry!
• Flat electric griddle for those special dinners, in addition to the stove, microwave and Weber charcoal grill in the shed
• Full fridge and freezer in the kitchen and a small under-counter fridge upstairs in the wet-bar
• TVs in every bedroom and great room (5 in all) for streaming; very fast internet for further entertainment or work
• Side table in the living room for puzzles that keep you part of the crowd but removed for puzzling
• Gates are installed on both first-floor porches, top of the inside second-floor stairs as well as a gate to set up at the foot of the inside stairs to keep little explorers where you can see them
• Tide Clock by the front door to alert you to the best times for beach combing (falling tide) and for sand castle building
• 2 adult cruiser bicycles, boogie boards, beach chairs, beach toys for digging and sand castle making, beach pull-cart to get everything to and from the beach
• Comfortable gathering spots on the upper back porch (overlooking the ocean), the upper front porch (overlooking the Intercoastal Waterway and Marsh), on the first-floor back porch for lunches and breakfasts, the first-floor front porch to watch the world go by and the hammock and outdoor gathering spot on the ground floor under the house for more intimate chats and to catch those magical breezes.

Wonderful!

We had an amazing time at this property. It has anything you could need!!! The home is VERY clean and well organized for an easy stay!! The porches, location to the sand(2 min),bikes, fully stocked kitchen,all the little touches that made it feel like home. We definitely would stay here again!!!

This house is so close to the beach, nicely layed out, and fully stocked to serve all your needs. There are two nice biked, plenty of beach chairs, a wagon to tow your things. We had a great time.

Relaxing getaway

Our plans changed a bit, so there were only four of us instead of six. So we had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the beautiful house and porches! Loved the decor and the kitchen was well-equipped. Great location and close to the beach. Owner was wonderful to work with and we appreciated all of the little extras, very thoughtful and welcoming😊 We’ll plan to be back and next time stay longer and have the whole group!

Great outdoor spaces! Well stocked kitchen!

The pictures and description of the property were very accurate- absolutely no disappointment! We were especially thrilled over the outdoor spaces and wide rocking chair front porch! We thoroughly enjoyed taking in the beautiful sunset each evening! The large farm table seating in the dining area was ideal for a family with little ones! They loved the long bench were they could easily access the table yet still hang out with the big people. And the bunk beds were I big hit! Highly recommend this rental, especially if you have little ones!

The Beach with Family

We had a very enjoyable time at Burden's End with our family. Our check in was seamless and communication was very easy with our hosts. The home was just right for our family of 10 which included six of our grandchildren and they really had a great time. The beach was really accessible just around the corner to the entrance. Ocean Isle was very tourist friendly with activities for us to do with the kids. We hope to return one day. Thanks Martha and Mark.

Perfect family stay

My family stayed in this VRBO to attend a bridal shower at Ocean Isle. They couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. Accommodations were exactly as posted. The host was so hospitable and had an adorable sand bucket full of goodies on the counter for all guests. I would definitely recommend this house.

Beautiful home

Beautiful property with all the essentials. It was a great set up for a larger family with kids. Beach access less than a block away and tons of entertainment within 2 miles. The host was very welcoming and created an open line of communication to help make our vacation run as smooth as possible.

Near perfect vacation

Where to start, first was how close we were to the beach, less then 5 minutes and your toes were in the sand. The house was amazing as well, well stocked with necessary items and more, our kids really enjoyed the provided games, i even got beat a couple times at "apples to apples" The shower in the master bath was tall enough that my 6'4" hubby didn't have to bend over to rinse off. And the power cord was a very nice touch so we didn't have to fight over who got to charge what ( although he did steal my watch charger LOL) The kitchen was amazing. Wish I had one that big at home. It was also great having the shed under the house we thought about taking the doors off the jeep cause we could have stored them there but didn't spend enough time driving to worry about that . There were a couple of fights over the hammock. And let me just tell you it is a perfect place to nap , so is the downstairs couch and the upstairs couch. The balconies are amazing the street side is a great place to " people watch " I could go on and on but i think you get the gist of how amazing this place is. But hey, if you don't believe me spend a week here yourself, you won't regret it

Amazing week @ Ocean Isle Beach

We had a an amazing week at Ocean Isle Beach & thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Burden's End. Martha was very responsive to our questions & was a wonderful host. The home had everything we needed & more -- and it was literally 3 minutes to the actual beach. We appreciated the welcome basket of goodies, the books, and the many spaces for relaxing. We highly recommend this property & hope to return!

So happy we found this place!

This was our first time staying in the Ocean Isle area and I don't think we could have picked a more suitable and convenient property for our vacation ! Everything was perfect from booking to checkout and everything in between ! The owner Marty was so nice and helpful with all the recommendations and area info. There were even beach accessories and bikes available for us to use. The house is literally just a couple minutes walk to the beach access walkway. I feel very lucky to have stumbled upon this listing and based our booking on the great reviews. I really didn't have time to research it as well as I wanted, but it exceeded our expectations tremendously! Beautiful clean house, super owners, great location, beach was not crowded.... I could go on and on. Bottom line is we would love to rent this place again in the future! Thank you for everything Marty, we had a wonderful time there.

Wonderful weekend getaway for family celebration

Beautiful home in a quiet neighborhood located a short walk from the beach. The home was clean and spacious and provided our family to enjoy each other while simultaneously providing everyone with opportunities for small gatherings and plenty of things to do. The Perfect Stay

We absolutely loved our stay here. The home is immaculately kept and truly feels like you're staying in a well loved and cared for home. It does NOT feel like a rental with cheap sheets and minimal amenities. A very short walk around the corner to the nearest beach access made trips back and forth very easy. We dodged some rain a few times and the short trip was simple even with a toddler in tow. Every porch has a nice view and relaxing rocking chairs. The kitchen has everything needed to make your own meals or host friends and family. We had a toddler with us and the house has child gates if we ever needed to put them up around the stairs. The owners were great and super communicative. They were helpful in answering some questions before we finalized our booking and helped make check in and check out super easy. We will happily return to this home and OIB in the future.

This house has a great layout for our two families, is so close to the beach, and has everything you need if you are cooking from home. It’s a place we have returned to several times.

Mark is a “com-ya” and Marty is a “been-ya” from the Carolinas and together we discovered OIB. Marty grew up in South Carolina but her family comes from Wilmington and the surrounding beaches. Mark immigrated from Ohio and got here as quickly as he could! We live and work in the Charleston, SC area now but get to our own part of paradise as much as possible. We named our property Burden’s End because when you cross over the causeway bridge heading onto the Island, that is exactly what happens. Your burdens end right there, not to be picked back up until long after you return home. Our friends have a saying on their wall that “everything can be cured with salt water; tears, sweat and the sea”. Nothing truer can be said. We enjoy sharing our home with others who appreciate all that OIB has to offer.

Why they chose this property

OIB was a perfect fit in that we were looking for a quieter beach that still had amenities to enjoy. OIB is family oriented with many festivals, parades, markets, miniature golf (no monsters allowed!), restaurants, fishing & boating opportunities and the best all-around “convenience” store in Sheffield’s that you could ever want. Once you’ve stayed at OIB you become part of a very unique community. Burden’s End is literally steps from the beach and located just a couple of blocks from a hidden marsh trail that gets you up close with nature few ever experience. And when it is time to socialize a little, salute the sun as it goes down from the upper decks with your own favorite concoction in hand. It’s all good.

What makes this property unique

The house itself is comfortably laid out so many can gather without being on top of each other. While there are large gathering areas for games, eating, watching TV or visiting, there are also little nooks where a few can get away for quieter conversations, reading or relaxation. With a bedroom suite on the first floor, and the other 3 bedrooms upstairs, different generations or families can set their own pace for their stay. The grounds are lushly landscaped with palm trees that let you know you are indeed in a very special environment. Come see what Burden’s End is all about. Where magic abounds if you let your imagination roam free.
