About this property

Shenandoah Solitude in the Blue Ridge mountains

Welcome to the enchanting Shenandoah Solitude, a picturesque retreat nestled amidst the majestic peaks and lush forests of the Blue Ridge mountain range.

This cozy and spacious cabin is the perfect destination for your group to experience a rejuvenating escape, where adventure and relaxation harmoniously blend together. While large enough for a group of 8, Shenandoah Solitude is cozy enough to make smaller groups feel warm and comfortable.

The cabin offers 3 private bedrooms, 2 full baths, modern amenities, a paved driveway, a hot tub, and much, much more!

2 king beds, 1 queen bed, and a full-sized sleeper sofa will comfortably sleep 6, and we have additional bedding for a max of 8. The kitchen offers modern fixtures and ample space with an oven, refrigerator, and microwave.

If you'd rather cook outside, we've got you covered with both gas and charcoal grills. While you're out there, you can play a game of horseshoes in the professional horseshoe pit or challenge each other to a game of cornhole (available in the summer months)!

At night, sit with your friends or loved ones in the hot tub while looking out at the lights of the valley or stars above. On rainy days, there is still plenty to do inside. Watch Smart TVs with satellite channels, play board games, read books from the cabin's book library, challenge your friends to a game of foosball, or hang out around the fireplace. There is a landline phone with free local and long-distance calls. A new high-speed Wi-Fi has just been installed. Feel free to stream music or watch movies during your stay!

Enjoy stunning mountain views and sunrises from the covered decks. Soak in the indoor jacuzzi or the large outdoor hot tub! Make a huge campfire and tell stories with your friends late into the evening hours!

PLEASE NOTE: During winter months, a four-wheel drive (4WD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) vehicle is required.

Pets are welcome! 2 dogs maximum. There is a weight limit of 50 lbs or less per dog. No cats allowed, sorry!

PERFECT Shenandoah stay!
I can't say enough great things about this beautiful cabin. I've already recommended it to several people. The owners provide a comprehensive binder guide for guests, which I found incredibly helpful. Everything was thoughtfully designed, from the mult-tiered decking area to the decor inside. You'll be surrounded by a peaceful viewing experience day and night. Be prepared that this is in the mountains, so you will have to drive a bumpy uphill road to get there, but I promise it is worth it! You also might see a few bugs inside, but this is a part of being in nature. I never found it bothersome. The place is clean. All three beds were comfy and the loft area was really cute. My son loved staying up there. For context, it was very hot outside during our stay, so it got a bit warm inside in the living area and loft during the day despite the A/C, but the ceiling fans helped a lot. Grocery stores are about a 10-minute drive away for convenience. The grill and firepit area were perfect for a cookout and s'mores. The Luray Caverns and Rescue Zoo are about 15 minutes away, making it a fantastic location for doing the fun, touristy stuff in the area. We went to Shenandoah one day and the Caverns on another. Coming back to this relaxing oasis after a long day of activity in the heat was SO nice. It was really hot for the hot tub during our visit, but we did get in at night, which was added relaxation. I highly recommend staying here for some true R&R. I can't wait to come back in the Fall! I also recommend going to Flotzies and Jess' Main Street Bar and Grill!

What a View!
Wonderful views! Peaceful, nature surrounded, nicely appointed, clean, comfortable, and super cozy cabin. Easy communication with the property management company. Community road leading to the cabin is unpaved and steep at times so 4x4 highly recommended. Downtown Luray is nearby with a couple of restaurants and a brewery, grocery stores close by, and the entrance to the Shenandoah park is within 10-15 minutes drive! Perfect location.

The Perfect Romantic Getaway
My wife and I had to cancel some other travel plans we had due to some unexpected time restraints. We had less than a week, but wanted to find somewhere to enjoy a quick getaway... that's when we found Solitude. It checked off all of our boxes: cabin on a mountainside, hot tub, swing, grill, fire pit, view, & charm. This cabin has all of these in spades. There were also all the small & more pragmatic things that made the stay very easy: kitchen gadgets, multiple coffee options, that citronella candle outside, grill tools, etc. We arrived with our 'basics' and found that if we had forgotten anything, the homeowners had thought of it. While this was more a getaway for my wife and I, we have decided we will be bringing back our kiddos with us next time as there was ample space to accommodate everyone between the 3 bedroom--though Mom & Dad get dibs on the loft bedroom with the sunrise view. :) Thank you for the great experience... highly recommend this cabin and we'll be coming back again!

Beautiful solitude in the mountains
This house was gorgeous! The view was simply amazing. The view of the sunrise in the morning was my favorite. This was absolute solitude in the mountains if that's what you are looking for. Just to make note the drive was a little scary for me and I would not do it if you don't have 4 wheel drive, even if it's not snowing. We have little kids so it was a little concerning for me to be on the side of the mountain like that but it's just as pictured! We def would go back once our kids are a bit older!

Fantastic Anniversary Getaway
My wife and I booked this place for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We took the long winding road up the mountain trail and after about a mile and half we made it to the house. First off, the view, just wow! Overlooking the Shenandoah Valley, it took our breath away. The outdoor layout was awesome with multiple trails to the firepit (plenty of wood stocked!). The interior of the house was very charming with bedrooms available on each floor. We spent most of the time sitting on the swing, relaxing in the hot tub or sitting around the firepit. Three days was not enough and my wife has already requested we return for our next wedding anniversary. High marks all around!

Relaxing escape from the city
My husband and I had a relaxing 4th of July weekend! Our dog loved exploring the property! We went hiking and loved going in to downtown Luray! We had a amazing time at Hawksbill Brewery for a four course dinner pairing! Waking up every morning to the views of the mountains was amazing!

Beautiful Location
We enjoy our stay! The place and location we beautiful. We really enjoyed the quiet time as a family. We are a family of four, with two young kids (4 yo and 1 yo) and this cabin offered everything we needed for kitchen and sleeping arrangements! We ventured to Luray Caverns twice because my son loved the Rope course so much. The firepit, picnic area and hot tub were great additions and made the place easy to entertain our kids. The view of the valley is also amazing. Communication was also great, very responsive. Would 10/10 recommend :)

Excellent stay with stunning views
As suggested by the owner, it’s pretty difficult to get there without an AWD vehicle but the cabin had so much room to keep everyone warm. This place offers beautiful views overlooking the Shenandoah National Park. The one thing that won’t disappoint is the Hot tub which made worth our stay. Things that could need a little help are- kitchen(didn’t have a dish washer), stinky bugs around the house. Overall it was a great experience staying here.

Weekend getaway
We really loved our weekend at Shenandoah Solitude. An ice storm made it difficult to get outside as much as we would have liked, but the cabin inside was charming and just as advertised, the hot tub worked well, and the property managers were very responsive when we needed salt because the driveway became a sheet of ice. One star deducted because of the presence of (some) harmless "stink bugs" throughout. A warning that the requirement that a renter have a 4WD vehicle in the winter is no joke; we would not have made it in and out without that!

Amazingly relaxing getaway right in the heart of the Shenandoah
Beautiful cabin overlooking the Shenandoah valley. We felt totally secluded from all other people and were able to completely relax in this quaint cabin. It was perfect for unwinding and getting away from the stress of "real life." Our family of four fit perfectly with room to spare. The gas fireplace indoors kept us cozy and warm, and the outdoor hottub was a great way to unwind while enjoying the picturesque scenery. Just what we needed. We will definitely be back!

Amazing view!
We loved our recent stay at Shenandoah Solitude! Previous reviewers commented on the dirt road up the mountain. I wouldn't want to do it in a Prius but I have a Subaru Forester and we had no problems getting up or down the mountain (although my husband decided it would be a fun time to try out the Subaru X-mode). The view from the cabin is the payoff. Absolutely spectacular! Sitting on the deck just looking out at the valley and mountains was so serene. The cabin itself was perfect for our family of four plus a small dog and could have accommodated more. We hiked, played games, made s'mores over the fire pit and relaxed in the hot tub. The kitchen had everything I needed to cook several meals. There is a DVD player and we had brought a few movies for evenings and the one rainy day. We actually liked all the ladybugs as we consider them a sign of good luck! We will definitely consider renting this cabin in the future.

Cozy cabin with incredible mountain views
We loved our stay at Shenandoah Solitude. It's a beautiful place with absolutely breathtaking views of the mountains, especially at sunrise. We loved how remote the cabin felt up at the top of the hill bordering a national park, and we loved all the outdoor activities that were thoughtfully laid out around the cabin, from the fire pit to the hot tub to the games. We ended up spending more time at the cabin than we had planned just because there was so much to do. One thing that surprised us was how steep the incline was on the gravel road up to the cabin. However, we did make it up in a sedan. The cabin was cozy with its fireplace and nice furnishings and we enjoyed our time inside watching movies and playing games. We also loved the huge deck, where we ate meals while taking in the views. The porch swing was a nice feature, too. All in all it was a fun and peaceful weekend away from the city and we have already recommended this cabin to others. We would love to come back ourselves.

Perfect for our Minimoon
My Husband and I got married this September and we booked the Shenandoah Solitude for the week after. It had everything we needed to just unplug and decompress! We would sit out on the porch and watch the sun move behind the trees in the morning. The view of Luray is incredible up there. If you didn’t want to leave the cabin for the week, you didn’t have to to entertain yourself. Corn Hole boards, grilling outside, picnic tables, hot tub, jacuzzi bath, and more that make this house complete. The view from the loft King bedroom is really something in the morning when you first wake up. The kitchen had all the necessary utensils and cookware we needed. We look forward to returning in the future with another couple or some friends.

Amazing Location with a rustic feel
The cabin is at a breathtaking location, extremely secluded and surrounded by mountains. Lots of things to do both inside and outside. One can enjoy amazing views from both the grill and the hottub. Apart from the location , the cabin itsell is very rustic & cozy. There is a fire place inside and lots of boards games available to keep oneself occupied. Side note - Try to get cars with good ground clearance as the drive to the cabin is pretty bumpy. Would definitely come back to the same cabin if we happen to drive by Shenendoah!

Peaceful Retreat
My family and I really loved the breathtaking views and peaceful surroundings at Shenandoah Solitude. The cabin has all the comforts and yet it blends seamlessly with the outside. We were able to enjoy games, read and sit around the camp fire for s’mores. I also really appreciated all the instructions and attention to details in the cabin. We are coming back.

Beautiful views!!
This adorable cabin was perfect for a quiet, friends getaway weekend! The views from the wraparound porch and the hot tub were absolutely breathtaking. The cabin itself was adorable and the gas fire place was PERFECT to hangout in front of with a glass of wine and a movie after a long day of exploring the nearby Caverns! The only negative thing I can say is that the drive up to the house is very long, windy, and bumpy. I would not recommend taking a small car or sedan, a SUV or truck is absolutely necessary.
