Welcome to the perfect, quintessential old Florida beach cottage! The Gorby Cottage has been a family-owned beach cottage for decades, and now you and your family can enjoy this cozy little, pet-friendly cottage too. Quietly tucked away in Dune Allen Beach, and only .3 mile from the public beach access, this 2-bedroom, 1-½ bath cottage with a loft will literally lure you back in time. As you open the screen door to the the large, open and spacious screen porch, you’ll reminisce back to your own childhood summers spent at the beach, and there’s also an adjacent patio with an old-school picnic table with benches perfect for family cook-outs.

The screen porch provides a charming space for family time that includes a second dining table for eating or playing games, as well as 2 groovy, retro lounge chairs for kicking back and relaxing. It also creates some privacy during your stay if needed. The galley kitchen, cozy living and dining room, loft with 2 twin beds, and ½ bath is located on one side of the screen porch, and the two bedrooms with queen beds, and a full bath with a tub/shower combo are located on the other side.

Gorby Cottage also features a private outdoor shower for rinsing sand and suntan oil off after the beach, or it can also be used as a second shower for the more outdoorsy guest. Overall great stay!
We were a little deceived by the notion that there are two bathrooms. It’s more like 1 and 1/2 bath with an outdoor shower. Also, having two different keys to get in the two halves of the place was a little difficult. I would prefer a keypad entry to help with not having to keep up with keys.

Check in was fine. The TV did not work, there was no internet connection. We tried to reset it twice. I was t going to call someone after social hours. We sent an email and bet they didn't get it until the next day because lack of internet. Thursday morning, we found ticks in the bed, and bugs railing all over the kitchen. The kitchen is about 6.5' tall. Then I ended up texting the management company Friday, and they sent someone out. We were leaving the next morning- there's no sense in fixing it now. And because of no service, I didn't get their text response claiming they were/are available 24/7 until hours later. Did is zero use. The backyard wasn't manicured or fenced in. It's obvious the owner has that property paid off. It would behoove them to simply rebuild. Not returning, or ever using Dune again.

Sweet Little Florida Cottage
My husband and I had never stayed in the Santa Rosa area. We loved it and plan to return. The house location was wonderful, as we are avid walkers. We have stayed in many of the older cottages, so the unique layout didn't bother us at all. We enjoyed the inside porch area the most when it rained. There are a few things that I would change if the home was mine, but overall, great rental.

We enjoyed our stay here. Yes, it’s an older FL cottage and a bit quirky but worked just fine for our family! We enjoyed the yard and porch! And especially the great location close to beautiful beach!

Perfect location, comfy house.
I read the reviews about the problems with the layout of this house. While it is unique, you are absolutely secure and very comfortable! Outside of that, everything is clean and works well. The location is perfect for beach access! We highly recommend!

Not really a house more like a cinderblock crash pad
While the location is excellent, the property is awful. I would definitely not stay here again. We ended up cutting our trip short because it was so uncomfortable. When the description says “old” it doesn’t mean old in a charming kind of way, it means old In an everything is dated, dirty and broken. It is not well stocked for example, there was only one ice tray and it was broken, only one hot pad and it was so dirty and gross, no fans in bathrooms, terrible ventilation, the glass on table in the living room is not secure and can be pushed off at any minute (not great with kids around!) the furniture is way too big can’t fit comfortably. Chairs block the TV, the couch is super uncomfortable. The kitchen table that was way too big for that area the chairs pushed back against the wall so you had to jump into it. The oven is tiny. All 4 Mattresses were super uncomfortable and terrible Bedding, No pillow cases, No security on “front door” so hard for a family as the kids are in the “main house” in the loft and the adult rooms are in the other house, we knew the layout was funky from the beginning, but we didn’t expect the lack of being able to lock things. The extra “futon” is definitely not sleepable Ants everywhere. Pros: Location is great Washer and dryer are new

Great Family Beach Week!
The house was as promised, a little quirky in it's layout, but totally functional. It was clean (except for a lot of accumulated dog hair/dust along the loft railing) and well-stocked. It's about a five minute walk to the beach along a nice path. There was a small yard (unfenced) that was great for our dog and for the kids to play a little paddle ball. I would recommend this house!

Great place, everything you need, plus some, was there! Only thing that could make it better would be to have a better exterior door lock system (dead bolt or bar)! Had a great time, would definitely stay again!

sparkling clean
Everything is freshly painted and sparkling clean. The kitchen is furnished with all the cooking utensils anyone would need, even an egg poacher. Nice appliances. There is a nice 2 block walk to the beach. Quiet lovely neighborhood. Unfortunately, there was lots of neighboring construction in February 2019 which made the house too noisy to stay home during the day.
