The house was exactly as we expected from the photos we saw ahead of time. It was clean and neat and had everything that we needed. It was only 5 miles from my brother’s house and very close to the fairground. All in all a great experience.
My family of 5 has stayed here twice now. The house is always very clean and the hosts are very responsive. The beds are very comfortable, and my son especially appreciated that the pull-out sofa had a special pillow-top to put on top of the mattress, making it very comfortable. On our most recent stay, the hosts took care of a small problem immediately and checked in with us for the remainder of our stay to make sure we were all set. We will definitely stay here again in the future.
Lovely house, very clean and comfortable beds. Nice touches like toiletry items. We didn’t use the fire pit, city folks intimated by the night noises but they were very cool!!!
It felt like a real home. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly. We had all the things we needed to cook breakfast, grill steaks for dinner and make s’mores in the fire pit (we bought groceries nearby). There were lots of games and books to entertain us. The place was clean, easy to find, felt very safe. It was just a short drive to Kingston and Woodstock. We had a very very pleasant and relaxing stay.
If you scroll through the reviews, you'll see we've left several—which in itself should say a lot. But I did want to mention that Monica and Jim have installed several upgrades since our last stay. Starting with the new 400 mbps wifi and a brand-new refrigerator, and more new Adirondack chairs in the back yard.
This is a great house in a great location, and Monica and Jim are great hosts.
We enjoyed out stay and the responsiveness of our hosts. There were so many details attended to that we felt right at home. We wished we were closer to town especially at night since night driving is challenging for us.
The house was so clean and comfortable. It’s also located in an easy area to navigate, especially if you’re not a local. I wish we could have stayed longer!
Our only complaint was the air conditioner on the first floor didn’t work well, so it made sleeping in the first floor bedroom uncomfortable in the August heat/humidity.
Thanks so much for a great stay!
Perfect destination for my group of 5 adults. We had plenty of room and the house is very well maintained and updated. We really enjoyed our stay and the area is beautiful! I would highly recommend.
I'm not sure what more I can add to our previous reviews, except to note that Monica and Jim continue to upgrade the house. They recently added a picnic table and Adirondack chairs to the yard, for example. So you can see that they care about their guests' experience.
The bottom line is: This was the 4th time since July that we've stayed at Jim and Monica's. They're great hosts and the house is lovely. We love the location—a short drive to Kingston, Port Ewen, A Frost Fest/Headless Horseman, etc., but far enough away to be secluded. For the Holiday Season, Jim and Monica decorated with a tasteful wreath and lights, too.
The house is charming and has everything you need to be comfortable.
Backyard is private with small yard and forest. We built a fire one night and took it all in. Falling leaves in late October is amazing,
All in all a great place to stay,
Overall experience is very positive. House is clean and well-maintained that is very important during COVID-19 epoch. The only suggestion is to have air conditioning at Fall as well, because at warm days, it is pretty hot on the second floor.
We enjoyed this cozy and clean house! The owner of the house was super nice and helpful. We had everything we needed in the house. It was such a pleasant stay! I would strongly recommend this home !
This was our second stay at Monica and Jim’s house this summer. They even made some upgrades in between our two stays including a new outside table by the grill.
Great stay.
This was a perfect house for a country getaway from the city. It was SUPER clean and neat and had all the amenities of home and great wifi. I stayed with my 11 year old daughter who likes to play video games and there was a desk in her room for her computer which was perfect. Also really nice to go outside to the backyard and either BBQ or play badminton. Loved our stay and will definitely book it again!!
When renting any property. Pictures can be deceiving. The usual wear and tear or just outdated photography can cause disappointment.
THIS PLACE ISN'T THAT.

You get what you see in the pics and more. More in the sense of comfort and functionality. No wasted space and plenty of space for a family of 4 or even 3 couples who want their own privacy.
Trust me, rent this place. Its definitely the place to get away to from all the noise and stresses of the world.
Everyone stay safe and enjoy your stay.
We had a wonderful week at Monica's house. It has a cozy cabin feel--but is plenty spacious. The house was fully stocked with everything we needed. (My kids loved the individual jam selection! My husband loved the Starbucks coffee!) The yard is really large. We grilled most nights and then roasted marshmallows at the fire pit for s'mores.
Monica was very responsive to all of my questions and super easy to work with. We'd love to come back!
Bottom line: We re-booked the house for another stay while we were still there, and we were already staying for a month.
Monica & Jim’s house was immaculate, and well-stocked with everything from cleaning supplies to food staples like olive oil and soy sauce to snacks and coffee. It is a great house with a good layout—including an enclosed eat-in porch as well as a pair of adirondack chairs and a fire pit in the back. (There’s also a gas grill set up on the side of the house facing the separate garage.)
Monica and Jim were also great hosts—in addition to setting up, stocking, and cleaning the house, they also checked in with us frequently, and (as you might be able to see from the pictures) they’re continuing to make improvements to the house—as great as it is already.
It’s a great house with great hosts in a great location.
