Comfortable house in great location
We enjoyed our stay at this Palm Desert house so much we’ve already booked again for next year. Wonderful kitchen and open living room with an attached den providing flexibility. Perfect for the two of us, with room for a couple more. The beds could be softer (maybe thicker mattress pads) and there could be a little more heat for the back bathroom on cold nights. These small issues do not outweigh the super convenient location near El Paseo, restaurants, shops and markets. The back yard is a beautiful oasis and we love the relaxing noise from the water feature. A real gem!

Enjoyed our stay at this house
We really enjoyed this house. We loved the location, the backyard, how it was decorated especially the Ostrich and Donkey pictures, the fully equipped kitchen, beds were comfortable and the rest of the amenities. We are golfers and all the courses we played where within 20 minutes of this house. We would rent this place again when we come back to Palm Desert.

Cool and calm in the desert
Karin's house is cool, spacious and comfortable. The house is very tastefully remodeled and the mid-century furnishings are way above the usual vacation rental. The back yard is shady and peaceful. The house is close to everything you need and we enjoyed the hiking trails nearby.

One of the Good Ones
We have rented multiple times through the years, from La Quinta to Palm Springs. There have been some good ones, and some not so good ones. This house located in South Palm Desert definitely turned out to be one of the good ones. From the first contact with the very friendly owners to our checking in, and our checking out, everything was handled efficiently and timely. The house was uncluttered, comfortable, and well kept. The layout from the open kitchen to the living room, and small den to the 2 large bedrooms, gives the feeling of space. The back yard with it’s landscaping and water feature was private, and the perfect place for relaxing. The amenities were more than sufficient for a month long stay. They even have a salad spinner. The neighborhood was quiet, located close to downtown Las Palmas with its restaurants and shops. As well, access to any golf course from Indio to Palm Springs was easy. It all made for a great relaxing holiday. Thank-you Karin and Doug

About the host

Originally from the East Coast and Midwest, we met in Wyoming and have also lived in Northern California and Oregon. Having traveled the country extensively, we have come to the conclusion that the Coachella Valley is a very special place. We currently reside in Portland and are looking forward to spending winters in Palm Desert when we retire in a few years. In the meantime, we're happy to share our Palm Desert home with you! So enjoy the sunshine and think of us from time to time, envying you as we toil away in the rainy gray weather up north.

Why they chose this property

Believe me when I tell you that we scoured the Coachella Valley for the perfect location. We quickly narrowed the search to the "cove" areas to get a little protection from the winds and better access to mountain trails. The area of South Palm Desert attracted us for its central valley location, views and proximity to quality shopping - Trader Joes and Whole Foods are must haves! We also enjoy being able to walk the mile down to El Paseo for morning coffee or afternoon happy hour.
Once we had the location narrowed down, we searched for the perfect doesn't actually exist. So we bought this one and set out to make it as perfect we could - we're thrilled with how it's turned out and happy to have completed our last ever remodel!

What makes this property unique

We were sold on this property after seeing the unique backyard - I haven't seen another quite like it in the desert. Mature pine trees happily mingle with palm and citrus as a reminder that you are leaving the desert floor behind and heading up into the mountains. Hummingbirds constantly visit in search of nectar and the neighborhood hawk stops by the pond often to take a sip of water. The iconic Palm Desert Cross is illuminated on the hillside just to the west and is visible from the backyard at night. Once you've tried the juicy Meyer lemons straight from the tree, it will be hard to enjoy a store bought lemon ever again.
