About this property

Perfect location for northern Michigan fun spots

Please read the entire description and the rental agreement before you book.
5 night stay required through Labor Day. Two night stay permitted after Labor Day at a reduced rate.

We require 24 hours between renters to assure proper cleaning and sanitizing. We take Covid-19 very seriously, and have implemented all the CDC guidelines for sanitation and cleaning. We do our best to protect our guests.

Michigan's tranquil Lancaster Lake is the setting for quiet, relaxing vacations for your family. Quaint lakefront cottage on 1 1/2 acres with 150 feet of natural shoreline. 55 acre Lancaster Lake is great for fishing, canoeing and kayaking. (Boats provided.)

This is your chance to unwind and unplug from the daily grind -- no internet or cable TV to bother you. We have purposely chosen not to provide TV-Internet. Cell phones pick up news and information if needed. You can use your cell phone as a hotspot to access streaming services with a FireStick or similar device.

Log home sleeps five comfortably. One bedroom on the main floor (queen bed); 2nd bedroom on second floor (three twin beds). Full bath on main, half bath in upstairs bedroom. Fully equipped kitchen meets all your cooking needs; refrigerator/freezer, gas range, double sink, microwave, coffee pot, full size washer and dryer, gas forced air furnace, but there is no air conditioning. Comfortable furnishings and lots of charm. Fire pit, dock, kayaks, canoe and row boat. Quiet and peaceful; frogs, loons, geese, ducks, herons, otters, waterlilies and sunsets!

Additional guest cottage available to families needing two additional sleeping spots. The Guest Cottage is a private sleeping space with its own deck. Located just steps away from the main house, newly finished with queen bed, chairs, dresser and ceiling fan. No running water, must use main house bathrooms. Rental rate is an additional $50 a night, plus additional cleaning fee of $25. Contact owner if interested.

Loads of fun attractions are just minutes away and include: Mackinac Island, Lake Michigan sand dunes, light houses, golf, historic Fort Mackinaw, and quaint towns like Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Charlevoix and Cross Village give everyone something to do! Nearby farms offer cherry picking and wineries. Cheboygan is just 15 miles to the east and has shopping and weekly band concerts and farmers' market twice a week. Close to I-75.

Ok stay

Bathrooms are small, the hammock outside was the neighbors. It has only one big bed and three very tiny beds upstairs. Neighbors houses was way to close, not very secluded. Otherwise decent little place. I would not stay there again.

Weekend away

Loved the property. The cabin was very cozy, spacious and clean. The deck space was amazing, and where we spent most of our time. Also, a quick drive to Mackinac (about 15 min) which was great!!

A Perfect Little Get-Away!

This cabin is spectacular! What you see in these photos are exactly what you get. We arrived (family of 4) and almost immediately got on the water with a few SUP boards that we brought with us. The lake is a good sized lake. Maybe half a dozen or so residents on the lake but spaced out enough where you're not on top of one another. We didn't use the guesthouse, or the fire pit while we were there. The beds were cozy. The kitchen was perfectly sized where it didn't take up half of the living area. Beautiful sunsets across the lake with a small family of loons on the water. THe fishing was fun. Pan fish off the dock. You're about 20 minutes to Mackinaw City. So expect to drive a distance for groceries, gas, wine, etc. But that's what we were looking for! Off the grid, peace and quiet. Getting a signal is a little spotty we came to realize in most of upper MI and the UP. The best signal we go was in the middle of the lake. Nights were filled with chess, puzzles, and a large selection of family friendly movies (all provided). Veronica was a pleasure to work with. She would respond to all messages within 5-10 minutes max. The place is pretty easy to find. The cabin is gorgeous! The lake is wonderful. Not much of a beach, but jumping off the dock and swimming alongside the paddle boards was a blast. The had a couple of cane poles you can use in the garage. We picked up a visitor's fishing license in town. If you're looking for quite comfort, you've found it!

Quiet and comfortable!

Great place, looks exactly like the listing. Spent our days traveling around the area, nights playing games in the quiet without interruption of tv or internet! Comfy bed and very clean. Would definitely recommend!

Quiet and Peaceful

The Lillypad was a great leaping off point to Mackinac Island and pictured rocks up in the UP. Was a wonderful little house and small guest cottage that fit us perfectly was very clean had all the amenities you would need for cooking and such and the lake was nice to especially with the provided kayaks and canoes for use. There is also a wonderful fire pit with plenty of wood for use. Veronica was great to work with, responded fast, and was very kind. Wi-Fi would be the only addition I would suggest due to the very spotty cell service in that area even for Verizon which I was typically only on one bar most of the time. We had a great time and would highly recommend!

Family Reunion

We couldn't have asked for a better cottage for our stay. It's a nice quiet location and we loved listening to the loons in the morning and evenings. The house offered the perfect accommodations and was well furnished, clean and well stocked. Thank you to the Wright's for a great stay!

Beautiful place!

The pictures really don’t do this place justice! The cabin is super cute and very spacious. Then you go outside and you have the best view of the lake! My family and I enjoyed spending lots of time outside fishing and just enjoying the peacefulness. And only 20 minutes from the ferry to Mackinac Island! 10/10 recommend! Thank you Veronica!

Perfect for our needs

Just what we needed for a long weekend away. Open cabin with a rustic feel but had everything we required. My teenager even “unplugged” (Verizon wireless coverage was fine when he needed it) and still had fun. Whodathunkit?!

Little slice of heaven

You will love this relaxing up north experience. Perfect for our week of kayaking, biking and hiking. This house had everything we were looking for, perfect. Our first time to this particular part of Michigan and we fell in love with it. Close to both Lake Huron and Lake Michigan and so many other beautiful lakes. Don’t miss a paddle on nearby Douglas Lake.

Relaxing Oasis

This cabin was exactly what we needed. The lake is small enough to kayak across, and had very little other traffic. We swam off the dock and used the boats for hours each day. Everything in the house was comfortable and well appointed. Only minor wishes: some basic condiments like salt, olive oil, etc. in the kitchen, and more adult sized life jackets would have been perfect.

Perfect Quiet Getaway

Perfect quiet get away for our family of five. We enjoyed having our own kitchen, kayaking on the lake, fishing off the dock, plenty of space to play games on rainy days, star gazing and being close to Cheboygan, Mackinaw City and Petoskey.

Enjoyable Stay

My two adult daughters and I stayed at The Lily Pad for 4 days, and it was wonderful to spend our vacation there. We had a couple rainy days, but with the cozy/homey cottage even those days were very pleasant. If you're wanting (and I'm sure you are) to spend time in the Mackinac area this cottage's location is perfect. You are about 10 minutes from Mackinaw City, so it makes it a breeze to get to the more touristy areas like St. Ignace and Mackinac Island. We liked that the neighborhood this cottage was in was quite private and quiet. We enjoy our vacations being more laid-back and relaxing and you can't ask for a nicer cottage to spend your time. The cottage was homey, but modern. It was clean and was decorated in a way the made us feel relaxed and comfortable. I think the only thing I wish they had at the Lily Pad that would have been great, would be the local tv channels. But we were able to keep up to date with the weather and local news on our phones, so we made do. If you need a little break from the stressors of the last year (2020). You couldn't ask for a nicer place to spend your time than the Lily Pad Cottage.

Hello! Welcome to The Lancaster Water Lily -- we purchased the property in 2018 and have enjoyed sharing this lovely place with many families and a truly wonderful northern Michigan experience.

I (Veronica) was born and raised in the Detroit area. I graduated from Grosse Pointe South High and attended MSU. My husband, Randy, and I met while counselors at Camp Walden - just a few minutes SE of Cheboygan.

We now live in Omaha, Nebraska. Randy is an attorney. I taught school and stayed home with our four children. They're all grown and married now and we have 5 grandchildren.

Why they chose this property

We had always wanted to have a cottage and now we love sharing this special place with you. Our hope is that your family will find that a stay at the Water Lily will bring your family together in a new and relaxing environment. Enjoy the time together to play games, use the boats and see the many sites northern Michigan offers.

What makes this property unique

The Lancaster Water Lily has a special, quintessential cabin feel. Completely made of rough hewn logs, it boasts a rock fireplace and vaulted ceilings that add loads of charm. It is comfortable yet rustic. The lake views are inspiring and peaceful, the feeling is uniquely Michigan.
