Our stay
The home was spacious and lovely Very well equipped. That being said the train in the backyard was a negative, would have not been a problem except for the time 3am and 5am, awakening us every time. Also the view was obscured by many trees, and many steps to the water. But as I said quite nice home.

This is a very nice home
This is a very nice home it had everything you would need for a stay. The only issue we had was the train going by 100 feet from the house at 330 am and again at 530 am evey morning blowing the air horn.

Great Family Vacation Lake House
Our extended family of 7 (old and young adults) had a wonderful time at the lake house. Lots of space, well stocked, beautiful setting. We appreciated the 2 kayaks available for guests. A little disappointed that the dock wasn't up due to high water level, but didn't diminish the good time we had.

Return to the Overlook Lodge
This was our second stay at the Overlook Lodge and as the first stay we were not disappointed! The lodge is beautiful and large enough for a large family. Our view of Lake Champlain from the deck of the lodge is incredible especially early mornings watching the sunrise! Having the dock was also a huge plus!!

Vacation
House and property were as listed, the house is very large and could comfortably fit a much larger group. Kitchen is well stocked and plenty of outside seating. There is a charcoal grill, I would suggest the owner’s acquire a propane grill as some people may not be familiar with using charcoal and for ease of use. The first night the train did wale us up, mostly because of our startled dogs, lol. The next few nights were not so bad, would definitely recommend keeping the windows closed. The water is crystal clear and a good temperature for swimming. I would recommend this property and look forward to returning at some point.

Tucked Away
Nice large house tucked away on a dead end road. Plenty of room for everyone, pretty much everything you need. House could benefit from A/C as it was particularly hot and muggy during our stay, plenty of fans provided though. Water at this location is nice and clear, no vegetation, very rocky bottom, bring your water shoes as zebra muscles are present past the end of the dock. Skip the cardio prior to your trip as the stairs down to the water will have you in tip top shape by the end of your stay. The train as mentioned in prior reviews wasn’t that big of a deal, usually one came through early afternoon and the other came through around 5am, which was fine by me as an early riser, it got me up just in time to see the magnificent sunrises from the upstairs master suite. Overall great Adirondack feel and everyone enjoyed their stay.

Relaxing and fun
We had a wonderful time during our week long vacation. The location is remote which makes for a very relaxing time, the water was cold but not so much that we couldn’t go in. The beach area is rocks so it was helpful to read other reviews that said to bring water sneakers, these were worth their weight in gold. We brought additional paddle boards since we were a group of 9. There was a perfect place near the grill to set up our cornhole boards, we made s’mores on the beach in a fire pit area that maybe a previous guest set up. The town of Keeseville is small but had a Stewart’s, a liquor store, Likkor Lokker, and a very small grocery store, Arnold’s. It’s not really a grocery store but it had necessities and lots of random things. The owner of Arnold’s/Likkor Lokker (same owner) was very friendly. Stewart’s has food and the BEST ice cream. We went to Fort Ticonderoga, AuSable Chasm and spent a day at Schroon Lake which is about an hour 15 min drive but a great little town which a very nice sandy beach. Our dogs had a great time, there’s no fenced area so we brought a lead for our runner which worked great for us. My teens made good use of the pool table and we spent a lot of nights playing games we brought. There are some games at the house and giant Jenga. The kitchen has a huge pot that worked well for our crab boil. There’s an electric kettle, roaster pan, blender, plenty of baking dishes and pots and pans, serving dishes, utensils and baking sheets (a couple more now since we forgot ours) muffin pans, etc. The bugs weren’t bad at all, I brought bug spray and a theracell but didn’t need either. There’s an island called Schuyler Island that’s about a mile and a half in the distance, some of our group kayaked/paddled out to it which was cool. The history of it is interesting as well. The train…really not that bad. I brought ear plugs but I don’t think anyone used them. You really do get used to it and block it out while sleeping after a night or two. Check in and out was easy, never had any issues during our stay so we had no need to reach out to the property manager but the communications we had prior to and after our stay were pleasant and I always received prompt responses. Would highly recommend this property if you’re looking for a low key, relaxing vacation in the Adirondacks.

Spacious and pretty view
All in all this property is nice. I was disappointed in the cleanliness of when we arrived, ( lots of dog hair on rugs and couches ) and some bugs in bathrooms. NO AC which is not a big deal however it was 80+ and uncomfortable in the evenings when you’re inside. Also not mentioned is the train that is directly outside of the house and comes through 3AM and 5:30 AM waking any little/light sleepers. Pretty views and good communication with owner.

Overlook Lodge
The lodge was a perfect getaway for our family. Set up was great!! We were disappointed that the dock was not still in the water - we understand our getaway was after Labor Day - but we weren't informed that it would be removed before our stay. My family was looking forward to fishing - fishing from shore with all the rocks did not work :-( One suggestion: a new coffee pot.

Off the beaten track
Nice place out of the way of humanity and busy streets. Plenty of space to enjoy alone time or to regroup and have family time. The pool table was a gathering place in the evenings. The dock and rock beach a favorite place on the hot and humid days to swim and use the kayaks and paddle board. Sleeping was not as peaceful as we had envisioned- the train track is regularly used in the middle of the night. The track sits within 50 yards of the house and the whistle may be an unwanted wake up call to some- especially those with younger children. Lots to do in the area as well as in Vermont. The ferry from Port Kent to Burlington is shut down until 2022. But the ferry out of Plattsburgh and Essex are easy to get to and just as fast getting across the lake. A great place to getaway. Glad we chose this place.

Beautiful spot
This house was very clean and well stocked. Property is gorgeous. We were able to use kayaks., really nice swimming area with picnic tables and playground nearby. Every spot in the house was super comfortable. The only negative was the lack of AC. We had the hottest week of the summer. House temp was 80 degrees most of day. Barbara dropped off extra fans which was very. Nice. I would stay again gladly.

Overall great location and property with some hiccups
This property is beautiful inside and out, with lots of spaces to spread out and enjoy. It had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The basement was perfect for the rainy days. The location was awesome, Ausable Chasm was super fun, and we were glad there is a beach front/playgound area nearby. There is plenty of road to walk/run from the cabin, and nice hikes nearby. The few things to note for future guests are: The walk to the water was longer than anticipated, and you can't see the waterfront from the deck. There are 2 kayaks, 1 SUP, but only 2 paddles, There are life jackets there, but before going they weren't able to provide the sizes, so we brought our own (however there are plenty of kids and adult size life jackets right inside the mudroom). The smoke alarm went off 3 times while there without warning, which we think was because of the steam from the first floor shower. Also, overall it was clean, however, upon arrival, the floors were not swept/vacuumed well and there was some hair in the bathrooms. Lastly, while we were there, green algae bloomed and we weren't able to swim off the dock, which was a bummer for the kids. Luckily there are nice neighbors or else we woudn't have been aware of the risk. The beach water was clear, so we went there until we were urged to get out of the water. Despite the hiccups, we were so glad to get away in the Adirondacks, and this property was overall a nice place to vacation.

A week at the lake
We found the property as described and more, with lots of great amenities. We certainly noticed the train at 4am, but noticed it less as the week went by. Our grown children and one toddler grandchild joined us for a lovely week of family togetherness. Really beautiful house and setting with so much to do and see in the vicinity.

Beautiful rental property
The property was beautiful, but it felt like a rental property rather than a home. There was just enough linens and towels. We had to buy toilet paper and we had to move furniture around to accommodate our 9 member family eating together at the table. (only 6 chairs). Overall, the experience was enjoyable for the 4 days we stayed there.

I would highly recommend staying here. It’s a beautiful property with stunning views and a gorgeous house. The property is right on the lake, surrounded by woods, and very private. There is a lot to do too including kayaking and playing pool. My husband and I had a very relaxing weekend getaway.

What makes this property unique

The unique benefit to this property is the complete seclusion from adjacent property owners. The lodge is located at the end of a narrow dirt road, where traffic is non-existent while still being at the center of all the outdoor activities available along Lake Champlain in the Adirondack Park. From this property, one can easily day-trip to trailheads for all abilities all over the Adirondack Park. This lodge faces to the south which provides a fantastic breeze off the broad-lake all summer long and warm sunny spots for relaxing on the shoreline or dock. Located in this precise spot, there is limited availability to satellite reception and DSL internet availability, making our lodge ideal for the family ready to focus on unplugging for awhile and making some memories with no interference from electronics.
