Our family of twelve really enjoyed our stay. The location is very convenient, private and quiet. The house is family friendly and was immaculately clean and well stocked with all the ammenities. Small touches, like labeling the light switches, helped make settling in seamless. Aria was very pleasant and responsive to our questions. Overall a five star experience.
We had a great time in this beautiful, fully equipped home. Aria was super responsive, and the house was clean and lots of fun. Quiet and secluded but near great hiking. Thank you!
This is the second time I have rented this property for an annual family vacation. The house comfortably fits 14 people, has everything you could possibly need and is in a perfect location. We love staying here and recommend it highly. Aria is wonderful and easy to communicate with. I hope to stay a third time next summer!
We loved our stay at Doe a Deer! A wonderful, comfortable spot for our group. We were 3 families with adult kids for a hiking/biking weekend. We were just a short drive to Keene and Keene Valley.
Lots of places for our group to spread out. The kitchen is very well equipped and has good flow for many cooks to prep meals. The outdoor spaces were also well enjoyed too. Our hosts provided lots of amenities and made our group feel welcome.
We look forward to returning to this great spot!
Our group had a nice time during our stay at Doe-A-Deer. The house was nice and spacious and had everything we needed. The only major negative was there was a bunch of mouse poop on the floor in the corners of the bunk bed room. Housekeeping should do a deeper clean of the space here and there and not just clean the middle of the rooms.
A December to remember. We had such an amazing time in your home. Thank you! Everything was exactly as listed. The beds were super comfortable. Kitchen was stocked with all the pots and dishes we needed. Also very clean.
We had a great time at Doe-A-Deer. The common spaces are big & open, lots of room and light. Great set-up for 5 couples and kids (room with 6 beds- 3 sets of bunks).
Aria was a great host! Everything was ready for us and communication was great.
Plenty of hiking trails nearby, including a couple in the neighborhood.
Highly recommend!
The property was beautiful and a perfect setting for a long weekend getaway with friends. Property was big enough for 6 couples to getaway for the week. Relax by the fire pit outside or the outside fire place. Large table to play card games and we’ll stocked kitchen to make meals for us all. Property owners were awesome and responsive when we had a question. Thank you so much for a great weekend in your beautiful home.
Place is very nice, fully equip with all the things you need for a comfortable stay and close to all the outdoor activities in the area. Only inconvenience we encountered was the place is not ready when we checkin at 4pm, as the cleaning crew was still there, we have to come back in an hour. Other than that, it is a very nice place for a big group, will consider to come back next time.
Wonderful house - would not recommend for toddlers
This home has it all! Highly recommended! They provided 99% of the things we needed. I way overpacked with toilet paper, kitchen supplies, etc) Beds super comfy (in fact I plan on reaching out to the owner for the brand of mattress) One downside, the staircase has a wide open area without railings which could result in a 3' drop (we kept a larger cooler in front of it so our littles would not fall) and part of the deck has no railing with a 1-2' fall. I would never mention this if we didn't have the kids, but I would want to know if traveling with young ones. Would definetly return, but without the kids. Beautiful, well maintained home.
This property was exactly what we were looking for. Our family travels biannually for “Cousins Camp” to various locations around the US and when we thought of the Adirondacks this home was a perfect match.
The space was big enough for everyone, kids and teens stayed in the bunk room, the rest of the folks had bedrooms with very comfortable beds. There were loads of pillows and blankets if you need them. The living area has a huge couch where we all snuggled in the evenings to wind down with some Netflix, and the kitchen (which I lovingly refer to as a 2 butt kitchen) met our cooking needs.
The area had spotty cell service, but the house had WiFi that could handle all of our needs.
We spent our days out exploring Lake Placid, Fort Ticonderoga, Montreal, Canada and stayed local for the last day and spent a few hours at the Jay Covered Bridge swimming and climbing the rocks. It was gorgeous and is a great way to get energy out without much driving.
Aria was a fantastic host and was prompt with her responses and overall communication. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Doe-a-deer lodge to anyone looking for a little time in the woods.
We were four families, with three sets of twins between us. All of the children had a ball, and loved that they got to sleep in the bunkbed room! The house was clean and aria was very attentive and responded very quickly. We made awesome memories in this property and will definitely return
The cabin is truly beautiful and spacious. Its a great escape and well-stocked. We enjoyed spending time with friends at this location and would visit again!
We were a large group attending a wedding in the Adirondacks. It was a beautiful location. Plenty of space. Super easy check in. Had everything we needed. It was a wonderful weekend with family and friends.
We had a very relaxing vacation and enjoyed a fire in the outdoor fireplace every night. The home had all the basics and more to enjoy and relax. We had lots of wildlife to keep us entertained- including deer. There was a ton of board games and other activities for the family. The property manager was very responsive to questions and provided all the details needed to have an amazing getaway.
This was the perfect house for a long weekend trip with our family. The house comfortably fit 14 people and was in the perfect location. We visited the town of Lake Placid, swam the Flumes in Wilmington and climbed Jay Peak. We also spent time around the fire pit at night and fell asleep to the sound of Great Horned Owls. The property was very clean and exactly as advertised. I would definitely stay there again.
Booking, communication with owner, and check-in was flawless. The street view of the house is deceiving. We had 8 adults and 6 children and had plenty of room. The residence was very clean, quiet, and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped. There was plenty of everyday paper products such as garbage bags, aluminum foil plastic wrap, etc. There are hundreds of board games for all ages to enjoy. This was a great stay and won’t hesitate to book again.

We are a family of five who reside outside of Saratoga NY. We have always loved escaping to the Adirondacks where life is simple and spending time with family is key! We fell in love with this property and its proximity to Whiteface Mountain, Lake Placid, and all the beautiful Adirondack surroundings. We are so excited that we now have a place to call our own! If you choose to stay with us, we know you will make lasting memories just as we have!
Why they chose this property
We are part of the Ausable Acres Community in Jay NY where we pay yearly dues to have access to Lake Eaton (a small lake for canoes and kayaks only), tennis courts, hiking and cross county trails, outdoor pavillon, barbecue pits, a small kids play area, and access to the Ausable River for fishing. If you choose to stay at Doe-A-Deer you can enjoy these amenities as well!
