SEAGLASS COTTAGE: This cozy and newly renovated cottage has the perfect in-town setting right in the heart of Bar Harbor's village. Comfy furnishings, hardwood floors, front and back covered porches, plus plenty of yard space make this adorable rental perfect for your summer vacation! Just around the corner, you'll find the free Island Explorer Shuttle hub at the Village Green, easy access to plenty of shops and restaurants, excursions to take advantage of from the town dock and harbor, and the famous Shore Path for a lovely stroll. And when you're ready to venture beyond the village into Acadia National Park, you'll find many park entrances all within easy reach.

FIRST FLOOR: Light-filled Living Room with hardwood floors, flat-screen TV, and comfortable seating. Dining Room with a table for up to six. Well-equipped Kitchen with tile flooring, granite counters, charming farmhouse-style sink, and propane stove. A small alcove with a counter for the coffee maker. Half Bathroom.

SECOND FLOOR: Two Bedrooms, each with a Queen bed share a full Bathroom with a combined tub and shower.

*ANNEX BEDROOM: Detached from the house by only a few steps, this converted garage space makes a cozy third Bedroom with a Double bed, TV, and propane stove. It's the perfect retreat for teens and young adults! Although this space has no indoor plumbing, a half Bath is easily accessible with just a few steps into the house from the back covered porch. *Annex is available for May - December reservations only.

OUTDOOR SPACES: Front and back covered Porches with furnishings, lovely side lawn with chairs, and partially fenced-in side lawn and backyard.

Note: Dogs are welcome with an additional pet fee pet. No cats allowed.

Great location & lots of character

My family of 4 had a wonderful stay at Seaglass Cottage. It had plenty of space for us and well equipped for all our needs while being absolutely charming. It is in a fabulous location, making it easy to walk Bar Harbor or even straight into Acadia. Highly recommend!

Very very good.

Location is perfect. The only time we needed our car was to make the 7 minute drive to Acadia National Park. Everything we did in town - restaurants, grocery stores, playground, beautiful coastline - was a short walk away. Very quiet neighborhood, flowers were beautiful so relaxing with coffee in the morning was very easy. House - Very clean upon arrival. Instructions on fixtures like the bath, windows, fireplace, etc were very clear. No dishwasher, but that didn’t really bother us. Host - Very clear entrance instructions. Only time I reached out was to let her know we were leaving but she was very responsive to that. Overall a great experience.

I'm torn...

This was the best rental property we have stayed at in the 10+ years that we have been vacationing in Bar Harbor. But I don't want people to know about it and fill up all the reservation slots before we book our reservation again. Luckily we rebooked for next year on the second day of our vacation this year. Small personal touches like a welcome letter and granola bars shows that the owner goes above and beyond to make the guests feel welcome.

Charming cottage centrally located in town!

My spouse and I loved the charm and decor of this home, which was also very clean! The kitchen had everything we needed and the quality was so much better than most rentals! Our only issue was that the beds were old, uncomfortable and squeaky. I had to purchase a mattress topper from the local Walmart (in Ellsworth), which helped a little. Otherwise, the home was great!

Beautiful Home in a great location!!

The Seaglass Cottage was absolutely perfect!!! My husband and I stayed with my best friend and her husband in celebration of my 50th birthday. The house was immaculately clean, super cozy and comfy, had all the comforts of home, and we were welcomed with a lovely card and a loaf of fresh baked bread. What a treat. The cottage is located so close to everything, but the street was quiet and a nice retreat after a day in the park or out and about in the adorable village of Bar Harbor. The beds were super comfy and soft and the shower I think was my favorite!!! The kitchen was well stocked, including decent knives which seems to be a very rare amenity in home rentals. Loved everything about our stay. We never communicated with the hosts, but we didn’t need to. Everything was thought of in advance. Only tiny suggestion is that the hair dryer gets replaced. It was very hard to turn on and off. Hardly worth mentioning but important to us ladies. We highly recommend staying here when visiting Bar Harbor.

Vacation

Sea glass cottage is a beautiful Maine home within walking distance to downtown Bar Harbor. We only took our car out when going to Acadia. We enjoyed hiking, biking and the shops and eateries of the harbor. We all look forward to another visit. Thank you to the Knowles Company and home owners Jim and Betty for a easy access stay.

Fantastic house

The house was in a great location. Walk to downtown, 3 short blocks to the grocery store, and restaurants all around you.The owners have made sure that everything you need is there. All of the special touches were appreciated. We hope to come back and stay at Sea Glass Cottage again.

Excellent place to rest and jump off to Acadia

Seaglass cottage is outstanding. It’s very close to the buses to Acadia. It’s a warm cottage with all of the comforts of home. The owners obviously are meticulous, and have given every corner of the cottage their attention.

Bar Harbor Vacation

Great house, great location! The house was a short drive to Acadia National Park and a short walk to downtown including the waterfront with shops, restaurants and bars. The house itself was very clean and very tastefully decorated. My family and I will definitely return.

Seaglass Cottage

Great house. So much like our own home. Layout was perfect. Great kitchen. Might want to upgrade skillets and frying pans. Could have used an additional window fan but not really complaining. Only had one hot night. We were lucky and had familiar cool Maine weather. Actually had sun for 5 days. We have stayed in a few places in BH and we all agreed this is the best one. Location was perfect. My daughter's boyfriend and I both enjoyed the proximity to Hanaford's. Couldn't have asked for a better vacation. And the Seaglass Cottage is the best. We'll be booking for next year. Wicked good cottage!

Well-Loved and Amazing Location

It’s clear that Seaglass Cottage is truly loved by its owners and well cared for by its host. Extremely clean, organized, and well-stocked. (As an example, one evening I was making dinner and realized that I forgot to bring a food thermometer - which I would never expect a rental to have - and was thrilled to find one in the drawer.) The location is one of the best features; we could easily walk to Main Street in the village and to the Bar Island Trail. A very fast drive to access Acadia. We had a wonderful week.

Old Bar Harbor Style

This cottage is a work of creative love for the traditional Bar Harbor cottage styles of the early 20th century. Impeccable style. BUT not for any boisterous activity...full of antique or hand-make vases and other china/ceramic items. The walls in the first floor are "papered" in silk fabric...makes a guest nervous about bumping a chair or any other item against them. Plenty of hot water and with great water pressure. Beautiful landscaping, perfect garden. The house is well-insulated, so little street noise penetrates. With parking for 2 cars, the location is ideal for walking around Bar Harbor itself or driving to areas further afield, from Schoodic to Deer Isle. The annex bedroom in the old garage is lovely. Just a few steps via a porch to the bathroom inside the main house.

Bar Harbor & Acadia in May

Our family has been vacationing on Mt. Desert Island for 20+ years. This was our first time to arrive in May instead of the summer months. It was fantastic! Less crowded and so easy to find parking in Acadia NP. We were also SO PLEASED with the Seaglass home! It's central location in Bar Harbor made everything so easy! Easy to walk EVERYWHERE. The home is charming and well maintained. It is well appointed and even has a well stocked "library" (2 separate floor to ceiling bookshelves). Another plus is the off-street parking (large enough for 2 vehicles). The property even has a nice side yard with well maintained gardens!! We will definitely rent this property again.

The best week in Maine!

We really enjoyed staying here! The house was very cozy and very easy to walk into town. It was also stock with all the essentials we needed. Prior to our trip the hosts communicated everything we needed to know and were very responsive. Thank you so much again!

Great memories at Seaglass Cottage

We really enjoyed our fall vacation at Seaglass Cottage October 1-8! The cottage was well decorated and comfortable for our family. The kitchen is great, and we liked having laundry available. Location provides easy walking access to Bar Harbor and was a good base location for exploring Acadia. Hope to come visit again!
