Functional and moderately comfortable

The unit is near the slopes and functionally good. The building is loud and would be considered an economy stay. The unit worked well for sleeping and skiing. Wifi and TVs were almost unusable (5mb and non-smart TVs). We planned on movie nights, but were unable to download or stream. Location worked well for skiing. Beds were comfortable.

Bedroom are too hot

The bedrooms are so hot it makes it hard to sleep. The bedrooms are near the inside halls of the hotel and they keep it so hot for some reason. Also the lights from the hall make it seem like daytime all night. I noticed other rooms with blackout curtains or something taped to the windows to keep out the light. Location is great. The property managers are very responsive. The beds are comfortable. Wifi was good. It's just had to get good rest with the light and temperature in the bedrooms.

Great location

Owners were great at communicating and would respond to questions quickly. Unit is dated but we really just needed a place to sleep. Easy to access to slopes from Mountain Lodge. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location!

This property is right on the slopes. It was so easy to get to kids lessons just down a little Hill. And for the expert skier, a short slope away from black diamonds. It was easy to get everywhere and some comfortable when coming off the slopes. Beds we're comfortable and showers were hot. We really enjoyed our stay.

Aside from Covid

This is an ideal location with the ski in/ski out ability. Covid made things a bit difficult. There were odds and ends that weren't the best, but we are guessing these wouldn't be an issue if Covid weren't around. The balconies weren't open yet, so that was a little negative, but they will be installed as the further revamp the place. Well worth the money.

True Ski In Ski Out.

Nice place on the mountain. 2nd floor unit. I thought everything was, as stated in the listing. Easy walk to get skis, food and drinks. We rented a locker downstairs right next to the exit doors to the mountain for out skis and boots. Big time saver. Definitely recommend this option. For an extra 15 bucks a day payable to the front desk at check in. I suggest bringing your own towels. The ones they had hanging up were a little funky. The comforter and the matching pillow cases on top of the bed was pretty funky too. The cleaning people must spray them with some kind of perfume. I removed all that stuff and just used the sheets. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again if we decided to come back to snowshoe.

Mountain Lodge

Mountain Lodge is our favorite place to stay at Snowshoe bcause of the convenience to the Ballhooter life and the village, and it reasonable price. It is old and dated, but luxury accommodations is not the purpose of our visit to Snowshoe. This unit was very reasonably priced and was entirely adequate. Only negatives was the mattresses were pretty soft and the TV is the living room only had streaming services. We tried to watch a basketball game one night and the buffering and poor picture made it impossible. we finally had to gather around the bedroom TV, which had cable..

Cannot beat the location

This is our second time to the Mountaintop Condos in 3 weeks and it seems to be a building issue, but the temperature is unbearably hot even with heat completely off in the entire unit. We ended up opening the window in the living room with snow outside to try to allow us to sleep. The manager responded immediately to us having a nonfunctional coffee machine and light bulb out. This unit has just about the minimum amount to accommodate a family as far as plates, utensils, etc. I would suggest more than one small baking sheet, perhaps a cheese grater, etc. In the time of COVID we made all our meals and we had to improvise. Really great location to mountain.

Great First Time Experience

We read up on the reviews prior to renting this unit so we had a pretty realistic expectation prior to our arrival. The unit was clean and served our needs. As previously reported in other reviews, the beds were super comfortable. The unit itself is pretty basic and the overall property needs a serious facelift, but that is not the fault of the unit owners. One complaint is to replace the missing wooden clothes hanging bar in the master closet. The best part of the property is the location. The bedrooms in this unit (and others in this property) have windows facing into the hallways, letting in way too much light - bring your eye mask if you like to sleep in pitch blackness. Overall experience was great - we definitely felt like we got value for what we paid for.

Had fun but

The unit does not have a fully stocked kitchen, I do understand that items walk away during the rental season. I was very disappointed with the onsite staff, we had a maintenance problem( tub would not drain) and i reported it to the front desk in the afternoon. ( front desk individual was very rude). I went the next morning to check on my request and the lady the night before had not even filled out a maintenance form for someone to stop by and fix the tub. Her response to me was that since we had another tub we could wait until tomorrow, very poor customer service.

Christmas Ski Stay

This property was a comfortable size for our family of five since we were out skiing each day. The host provided all necessary kitchen ware and bedding. Overall the property is dated. The condo management company needs to do a better job cleaning as some of our utensils were sticky, there were food wrappers under the couch, and we were missing items such as the sink drain cover. They also did not clean the common areas such as vacuuming debris outside of doors on the carpet. This is not a reflection on the condo owner, but the condo management company. Beds and pillows were comfortable. The bedrooms are bright, even at night due to the light pouring in the windows from the internal hallway that stay on 24/7. There are blinds, but they still allow in a great deal of light. Being used to sleeping in dark rooms, we all had a hard time getting and staying asleep in the rooms. Our biggest complaint is that the bedrooms were very hot. This seems to be a building issue, not just this unit. My guess is that the owner is aware of this as there were ceiling fans, stand up fans, and tabletop portable fans. To get any airflow into the bedrooms, you have to sleep with the bedroom doors open and open the slider and/or exterior window a few inches then set up the fans to push/pull the air. This was fine for a while, but our child sleeping on the pull out sofa was laying next to the open door and was freezing (23-6 degrees at night while we were there). We never turned the heat on, it would have made the rooms unbearable. The location was amazing. This ski in ski out property is truly that. You walk right out the doors with your gear and jump on a slope. It is also located at the end of the small village with is perfect. Parking was free and ample. Overall, we would stay again. All things remaining the same, we'd bring sleep masks, summer sleep wear for the bedroom sleepers, and a down comforter for the person on the pull out couch.

Disappointing and a bit dingy

(First time guests at Snowshoe and Mountain Lodge: Rental used as a place to rest before dropping the children off at a nearby camp.) My family and I arrived at the condo after midnight as we made the trek from VA following my long 12 hour shift at the hospital. The check in process was smooth as a guard and overnight attendant led us into the parking lot and quickly handed us our keys. Blear- eyed and exhausted we entered the dated , yet quiet, condo. It was apparent that the condo had been “cleaned” by a crew as there were fresh sheets on the bed and the bathrooms were cleaned. Once we turned on the lights it was obvious that this rental is listed at its “budget” price for a reason. The walls were dirty with black smudges and dirty footprints, scuff marks and general grime. (Pictures available upon request). The kitchen was sufficient and all appliances were in working order. The condo was warm and we immediately turned on the living room unit and all the bedroom fans. Sadly, the small unit is only good at cooling the living area space as the other two bedrooms never really cooled down. The beds were sufficient but not very comfortable. Save yourself the headache and bring your own pillows as the COVID plastic coverings are misery. The children and I attempted to play in the arcade while it rained on Saturday. Unfortunately, only 4 games (out of 15-18?) were in working order. The roof leaked on them as they played the “Daytona” speed games. When the weather cleared we headed to the Split Rock pool. I paid the ridiculous fee for the four of us to swim in the dirty and run-down facility. Feeling completely “had” by my budget getaway selection, I decided to take the kids back to the condo, watch Netflix and Shark week (thankfully the Netflix and cable were working) and head to bed. The next morning I stripped all the beds, ran the dishwasher and left the unit. Unfortunately we will not be returning to this unit in the future. I suggest the owners take the cleaning/taxes fees and invest in some magic erasers or better yet a can of paint and clean the walls. The entire Mountain Lodge is in desperate need of a makeover/update. I’ll make sure to find better accommodations next time. Rookie mistake.

Affordable, but outdated and poorly managed.

Room was outdated, but that was expected and no concern. There were several concerns with the cleanliness / upkeep of the unit: *3 lightbulbs missing / out *Dirty ziploc of paper towels and dirty washcloth on kitchen counter *very dusty TV stands *fingerprints on sliding glass *dirty sponge cubby *only pot holder was under sink in dirty conditions Also, be prepared to open your window to cool it down. No A/C is a concern even in winter because apparently the building stays hot.
