Clean and comfortable place to lay your head after a long day of hunting, hiking and enjoying a local brewery. Well off the beaten path, the location offers peace and quiet, with beautiful natural surrounding and complete lack of light polution.
Beautiful VRBO and great host. We fully enjoyed a full day on the river on the host’s property. Accommodations were excellent with one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept. Very dog friendly. Would definitely stay here again.
I booked a getaway for my partner and I, we wanted privacy and to fish. The place was so nice and relaxing. It was exactly what we needed. We had trouble finding a place to fish by GPS so the owner of the property was very helpful and friendly so he took us to his favorite spot. I highly recommend staying here if you want a peaceful getaway.
I thought I would never arrive to the cabin. Upon my arrival I had some difficulties with the key. I finnally got in touch with Mitch. Just before he arrived I was not able to get in the house. However Mitch was very congenial. We chatted for a short time. Once we were able to start settling in for the night we were made aware there was no TV. Although disappointed I finally got the internet started. The message I received from Mitch for the password was different from the information sheet on the table. I wanted to use hot tub but decided it was more trouble than it was worth. The shower was nice with plenty of hot water. Make sure you read and understand the "house" rules because Mitch is very strict. He is not rude but he lets you know excatly what he expect from his guest. I mentioned I was going to make sure I meet his 10 am check out time however my elderly sister is a little slow. He wrote me a note to let me know I must be out by 10 am no exceptions. He went on to explain that he needed me to vacate the premises right on time because he had guests arriving soon after my departure. This was rather condensing as if I didn't know he needed to clean the cabin the next guests. We did leave by 10 am the next morning.Overall the stay was pleasant!! We enjoyed our stay. We are not going back to the area. Although if I did end up in the vicinity again I hope to stay here. Thank you Mitch the vicinity t in touch
Much needed retreat! We loved that we could bring our fur babies! Everything was so nice, clean, and Mitch was very wobderful with his hospitality. It was neat that he was there if we had questions or needed anything and we LOVED his doggy!
Peaceful, beautiful and comfortable cabin in the woods. I felt like we were in a upscale hotel with the comfortable bed and linens. The bathroom shower was wonderful too. We enjoyed the peace and quiet nights and the hot tub was a plus. A couch or living space would have been nice but a perfect place to enjoy the outdoor space.
Everything about this stay was ideal. We were there for a wedding at a venue just down the road from Whispering Creek and it was perfect. Everything there was pristine, clean and ready for our stay. The hot tub was divine and we had a great time together. We will definitely be back for a getaway. If you stay here, bring food and drinks because other than the Howardsville General Store--where you can get sandwiches and snacks, there is really nowhere close by to do a run for dinner or other necessities. Thanks so much to Mitch and Goose for a great stay!

Off the beaten path!
Mitch's home is in a rural area of Howardsville, VA. His listing was accurate and he was super accommodating! If you are looking to get away from technology and all the challenges of the world this is a great place to stay!
Beautiful setting. Accurate description. Enjoyed the hot tub which was ready to use when we got there. Thank you ! The bathroom was awesome!! The owner was very thoughtful and provided many extras. The only thing we would suggest is more lighting for getting in and out of the hot tub at night.
I cannot even describe how peaceful this amazing piece of heaven is. It is everything described in the listing and more. Mitch was a wonderful host. He answered all my questions before I ever left home, but he was spot on if we had an issue. I would love to return during the fall peak color changing.
If you are looking for a special place where you can leave the tv, computer and usually phones behind this is it.
We loved it so much. Thank you Mitch for everything.

My friend of many years and I planned a long-overdue “girls’ weekend” away from the daily demands of life. We couldn’t have been more pleased with Mitch’s place. It’s small, yet very functional and comfortable. The location is remote, but well worth the drive. After spending our days taking in the sights and activities around Charlottesville it was nice to enjoy the peace and quiet in the evenings sitting on the terrace overlooking a beautiful wooded area or soaking in the hot tub. For a relaxing getaway, I would definitely recommend this home. Thanks Mitch, for sharing your beautiful home with us.
New, pristine space. Wonderfully quiet and off the beaten path. Great if you want to disconnect and enjoy nature without camping. Great for exploring wineries between Charlottesville, Appomattox, and Lynchburg. Internet is satellite and was disrupted by bad weather one afternoon. You may download content before going because streaming can be spotty. Don't plan on working remotely. But why would you want to? Enjoy this place for all that it offers!
I thought about reviewing this place every moment I was there! My stay was incredible! I started a job in March of 2023 and have been working nonstop since Feb of 2022. I took a week off and enjoyed the weekend away in Howardsville, a quiet town you have to experience for yourself! I stopped in the Tavern on the James for a delicious burger and wonderfully personable service! I got the London Broil to take with me back to the Suite for dinner that night and I was blown away with the aesthetic of the property. Mitch has outdone himself with every detail of this hidden gem! So many interesting and unique things for you to see and experience for yourself! The beds were SO comfortable, the hot tub was AMAZING! If I could give more than 5 stars I would! I needed to recharge and wish I stayed much longer! It's a perfect place to relax, but also have an adventure and explore, think creatively, meditate and reflect on life! I would love to come back one day and bring my friends to experience the joy Whisper Creed brought me personally. ALSO you have to visit the Howardsville General Store! Delicious, made fresh food from the burgers and sandwiches to the hand cut french fries! The best part about the store is they encourage you to bring books to leave in their backroom, because they're FREE! I picked up one and hope to one day return and replace it with a book of my own! Book your stay NOW!
3 of my friends and I spent the weekend at Whisper Creek for my birthday and had a great time. Mitch was a wonderful host and very kind! My only recommendations are to make sure you’re in a vehicle that can hand gravel roads and to bring bug/ wasp repellent!
He provided us with K-Cups, took out our trash, and dried out towels for us which we very much appreciated!
My partner and I had an extremely relaxing weekend getaway here! Mitch was very kind and helpful, and the downstairs unit was very clean and cozy. The property is perfect for folks looking for a quiet escape to the woods. Mitch directed us to great walking trails nearby, and then we treated ourselves to fantastic sandwiches at the Howardsville General Store just a few minutes down the road. I highly recommend this listing!
The hot tub was awesome, really relaxing and quiet area, the view of the stars was also great. The fire pit was really cool because of the dome shape. Makes the flames look even more beautiful and fun to watch. Would rent here again!
Very cute property! We were looking for a relaxing place to stay for two nights before finally heading back home and this was the perfect place. Beautiful and peaceful area conveniently located to Charlottesville as well as many wineries! The hot tub was very relaxing under the stars. Don’t hesitate to book!

About the host
Hosted by Mitch Pearce
Hello! My name is Mitch. I've actually owned the property that Whisper Creek was built on since 1997. But recently got the opportunity to build my dream cottage. It's all custom, all new! The Lower Level Suite was designed for recreational living and short term rentals. It has a private entry way, living quarters and private lower patio.
Why they chose this property
Whisper Creek is located in a very secluded and private area. Located within 30 to 40 minutes from some of Virginia's finest wineries, craft beer and distilleries. With Wintergreen 60 minutes west.
What makes this property unique
Within minutes from hiking trails, numerous rivers and creeks.
