We loved the three levels of patios. Up, up, up until you felt you were in the tops of the trees and the mountains with the birds. Wonderful! The home was fine. When we got there we were exhausted with the many levels of stairs but soon that added to the wonderful characteristics of the home. After all, it is built into a gorge! It was tricky getting our suitcases up to the house. We worked that one out too. The village has lots of character. Cats and children laughing and playing in the piazza. A great place for our visit to the Languedoc.
The setting is lovely, and also well placed for exploring the area. Though I could have spent all my time on the terrace watching the birds of prey, and lizards!

A Lovely Accommodation in Minervois
Over the last eight years we’ve arranged medium and long term
rentals for eight accommodations in Europe. Our three month
rental of this house in La Caunette was very special in terms of
comfort, furnishings, and all practical needs--- stocked kitchen
supplies, new bathroom with shower, washing machine, wifi.
Too, there was the attractive location in the heart of the old
village and the lovely back terrace and garden that looks up at
the dramatic cliff face above. The small village itself is charming,
and the region rich in natural and human history: vineyards
galore, mountains to the north, prehistoric sites, castles and
chateaus, Midi Canal, Roman and medieval wonders in Narbonne.
As importantly as all of these, all of our exchanges with the owner,
Lena, were as pleasant as could be. The experience was excellent
In every way.

A perfect home in an interesting area.
Lena's house in La Caunette is fantastic. We stayed for a week in September and could not fault the house at all. The bathroom is great, the shower is huge! The kitchen is fully equipped and there's so much space everywhere. There were only two of us staying but the house is plenty big enough for more people. The outside space is great, watching the geckos climbing through the fig tree was a brilliant way to while away a quiet afternoon!
The village itself was very quiet but that's what we were after. It's easy to drive to lots of the local destinations, but there's also plenty of lovely walks around the village itself.
