Nice stay right off the lake
Beautiful location. Plenty of space for us right off the lake! Small kitchen, but we made it work with the grill and a couple of burners on the stove

Great gathering space for a large family get together!
We had a family gathering of 15 adults and 5 kids 7 and under. Lots of room on the large wrap around deck and the private entry rooms with private bathroom/showers were wonderful. Beds were comfortable. We especially enjoyed the floating dock for swimming, fishing, sunrises and night time star gazing- even got to see the northern lights. Managers were prompt in anwsering all my messages. Despite no oven we were able to cook our meals on the gas grill. Fun was also had using the canoe on the premise. Don't forget to stop for the special boat permit from the gamers office in Grand Marais if you plan on renting or using your own boat- we had to make a drive back to town(over an hour- one way). Didnt use the sauna so can't speak to how that was. Having the extra fridge in each room was nice in addition to the shared fridge in the shared common space. Would definitely go back again.

Family reunion
We booked the entire property for a family reunion. The property was beautiful and the cabin was perfect for our group. Bekkah was very helpful and quick to respond to any of our needs. Voyager Outfitters were fantastic to work with on a boat rental and day passes for the boundary waters. For those with young children, I’d recommend life jackets as the water is very deep off the shore but the young kids (5 and under) enjoyed swimming at the public access right next to the property as it had a sloped access. I’d highly recommend this property for large groups!

Rough Start
The house itself was beautiful. It accommodated our family reunion of 32 people (ages 2 - 82yrs old) just fine. FYI, the property managers does live on site (downstairs) and each bedroom has it's own entrance. It has a shared common living and kitchen area. It worked out just fine because our family occupied the whole place upstair. However, if you're renting for your small family, just know you will be sharing the common living area and kitchen with other people. This was our first family reunion since my grandma's passing. We had family coming from California and thought it would be fun to get a place up North and do some hiking and canoeing. So we were super excited to get this place. We had a bit of a rough start. It was not disclosed that the property managers lived on site, until after we rented the place. It also was not disclosed that they had two dogs and a cat. Three of our little ones were scared of dogs and one of them particularly was terrified of dogs. We also had a couple of people there allergic to cats. When we arrived, I asked one of the man there to please put the dogs away and explained to him that we have children who are afraid of dogs. His response was, "Oh no! There's no fear here. We are going to take care of that right now." He asked which car the little guy (who is terrified of dogs) was in. He waited for that car to pull in, and as soon as my cousin parked the car, he wanted to introduce the dogs to this little 2 year old. Cole refused to get out of the car and my cousin finally told him that he need to let Cole take his time with the dogs. One of the dog was still in the puppy stages of nipping. As all the kids were running around and unloading, the younger dog nipped one of the little girl. She got scared and started running and the dog chased her. She fell and scraped her arm. I went back down stairs and ran into Bekah, the other property manager. I asked Bekah to please put the dogs and cat away and explained to her why. She was very understanding and accommodating and right away put the dogs and cat away. Another thing that was not disclosed was that this place also has another cabin that they rent out. The cabin is up the stairs and for the most part, they stayed to themselves. However, there is only one canoe there, so we had to rent 5 other canoe for our stay. The other people up at the cabin were using our canoes, so there's no control over that.

Multi-family stay
Great lodge for a multifamily stay. Kitchen and common area was a little small but we managed to make it all fit and work. Supplies and utensils were fully stocked. We were able to reach the owner easily. And the wifi connection was great. The staffs at the outfitter was super helpful and friendly. They came by 2x a day to checkin.

A Cabin in the Woods
We loved our stay here. We took a large family vacation and rented the entire lodge. The deck is incredible. We spent a majority of our time outside on the deck, on the dock and around the fire pit area. Voyager Outfitters manages the property and couldn’t be nicer. They helped us plan all of our day’s activities. My kids loved going up to the little store each day for ice cream. They are wonderful people and always willing to help. Some suggestions... make sure you bring your food. Additionally, unless you plan to grill, you might want to make everything at home as there is not a lot of kitchen prep space and no oven (aside from a toaster oven). There are not any grocery stores close by so don’t forget anything! Bring bug spray! There is no AC and we were pretty hot at night. Fans are provided but it’s still toasty. Again, we LOVED our stay! Amazing location for outdoor enthusiasts. Would highly recommend.

Great area but...
Unbeatable area. Very clean and organized, especially because of Voyageur Outfitter. Closer to the boat launching site than we thought. Many boats came in and out most of the day when kids were swimming near the dock, and some even used the private dock without asking. Also no AC in the rooms FYI. Outfitters were able to get us some fans though and that made a huge difference. It is truly a lodge with separate rooms and communal kitchen/deck so be prepared to share the space if you didn’t rent the whole lodge. The day trips to BWCA were the best part. Wouldn’t say that I would rent another time though, sorry.

I am a business man and have worked in Asia for most of my career. I was born and raised in Minnesota and so when this property came on the market I could not resist the chance to rehab it and make it into a wonderful reasonably priced lodge for families to experience the breathtaking wilderness of Northern Minnesota and the BWCA with the comforts of home.

Why they chose this property

This property is a one of a kind gem. It is located on the edge of the BWCA in the Sag Corridor. You can canoe out from here on a BWCA canoe adventure or take up to a 25 HP motor boat out on the lake within limited areas for some of the best fishing in the USA. This Lake is the home of the state Walleye record of 17 lbs 8 ounces caught in 1979. We are pretty sure that the next champion will come from Lake Saganaga. We rehabed the lodge so that it is just as comfortable as home. There are private baths in each suite with yes running flush toilets. We drilled a new well and have very good drinking water. Each room has its own heater. We offer full service linens and towels and free Wifi. The common area is a shared kitchen with a massive deck overlooking the lake. Come and enjoy the views while barbecuing for your crew with our beautiful new Weber grill. Its really a one of a kind place. We do offer canoes for rent and you can get a free day pass to enter the BWCA from the Forest Service if you stay at our lodge.
