Hart´s Desire: Freshwater Bay, Water Views, Tranquil Retreat

Located 12 miles west of Port Angeles on Freshwater Bay. GREAT LOCATION in the Countryside! Easy access to the western side of the Olympic Peninsula. Perfect location for solitude, with fresh air, gorgeous views and 5 acres of nature.

This magical place has deep roots in the area. Cleared and settled in or around 1900 by a gentlemen named Howard Hart who was born in Port Crescent, Washington Territory in 1880. He proceeded to plant fruit trees on the property that are now over 100 years old. The gorgeous views of Freshwater Bay and the Strait of Juan de Fuca from the home feature spectacular sunsets.

Comfort and plush quality furnishings await you. The owner's have done a lovely job of outfitting their home. Wonderful linens, and a Chef's kitchen with everything you will need for preparing your meals. Cable TV/DVD & free WIFI. It has a washer, dryer and a dishwasher.

Great family location for mountain biking, and kayaking, plus a private pedestrian beach access road where you will enjoy an incredible unspoiled beach for beach combing. The beach is ever changing with parts being sandy, cobbled and rocky.

Birder's, you will spot an ever changing inventory of our little feathered friends. Wonderful scenery for photography and journaling. Sea kayaking is also an option to enjoy at Freshwater Bay, either bring your own or rent them in Port Angeles to use during your stay.

Make Hart's Desire a destination for you and your friends, as once there, you will not want to leave.

Note that the Wifi connection could be spotty due to the location of the property.

12 minutes to Salt Creek Rec Area, where you can picnic on the flat beach, launch a kayak or go tide pooling.

4 minutes from Freshwater Bay to enjoy fishing, boating, crabbing, birdwatching, and picnicking.

13 minutes from Elwha River for wildlife viewing and boating.

Paradise! I didn’t want to leave!

This property is situated beautifully up above freshwater bay on the Strait of Juan Fuca. It’s incredibly peaceful and quiet. A deer visited our yard each day and the bird song from the deck is lovely! We had the best time visiting tide pools at freshwater Bay, hiking Sol Duc and Marymere. We visited the whole rainforest and Crescent Lake. We went whale watching and took the ferry over to Victoria. It really felt like the trip of a lifetime and the incredible beauty of this property definitely added to that feeling. This house is laid out really smart. The incredible picture windows face all the outdoor natural beauty. The mudroom is situated just right for coming in from Olympic Penninsula adventures. It is stocked well.

Wonderful Vacation Home

The home was clean and comfortable. We had all the space we needed to spread out and enjoy our time together. The home is located on a beautiful setting with a view of the water. We saw an eagle and a deer and various birds. We were so pleased and would definitely come again!

Great place to stay

My family just spent a week in Port Angeles. We chose this home and we are so glad we did. It was in a wonderful location that included a nice view of the water and we even had some deer visiting us. The home was clean and well stocked. We didn’t have any interaction with the owners because we didn’t need to. There’s a pretty good chance we’ll be coming back next year and this will definitely be our location of choice. Thank you.

Beautiful location and very quiet amd peaceful

We have never experienced a cleaner or better maintined house than this one. Its location is perfect for all that Mt Olympic has to offer. Only suggestion - The views of Freshwater Bay could be better if they trummed trees and bushes around the house. We really enjoyed our stay and would come again to this property. Also - the property managers are responsive and easy to communicate with.

We stayed a week at this home. It was really close to Olympic National Park. The house has a big back deck with a grill and table and a great view of the bay. We seen deer every day feeding on the property. House was very spacious and comfortable. Enjoyed our visit.

A pleasant surprise

The online pictures did not do the property justice. The house was spacious, comfortable and exceeded expectations. The view was lovely, the kitchen was fully stocked and the beds were comfortable. We can highly recommend staying here.

Peaceful area

We used this as our home base while exploring Olympic National Park, and it was a great place to come back to at the end of a busy day. The house has an open floor plan which was more spacious than we thought it would be. Plenty of room for 3 couples. Gorgeous view of the Strait from the deck!

Fantastic house. Great views. Worked well for multi generational travel.

Beautiful, unobstructed view. Worked well for multigenerational travel. My dad had his own suite with king bed, bathroom, and sitting area. My husband, two kids, and I took the other two rooms and bathroom. House was clean. All of the basics were supplied - TP, laundry detergent, body wash, shampoo, dishwasher soap, etc.

Beautiful View, great location.

Nice, peaceful property with beautiful views. Clean and well maintained. Easy process for check in/out. Short drive to dining in Port Angeles and quick access to Olympic. Would highly recommend.

Quiet and beautiful

A Juan de Fuca lovely home

This lovely home is a perfect spot to enjoy the straight of Juan de Fuca. From the comfortable home with nice showers , a huge library, and three large cozy bedrooms you can enjoy a magnificient view of the straight of Juan de Fuca with views of big ships and Vancouver Island. Nearby are Salt Creek county park with excellent walking,, Dungeness Spit, Port Angeles and Port Towsend. It is a delightful spot for a family or frineds get away.

Upon approach to Hart's Desire, we were immediately excited. My husband is an arborist and fell head over heals for the orchard. He even made us a pie from the delicious ripe apples! The home was perfectly laid out. The nice large kitchen had an air of nostalgia. Great library, and comfortable couch. We like that the home isnt inundated with TV and electronics. We prefer solitude and this home did not disappoint. The ART! Let's not forget the beautiful installments by Walton Butts. I'm looking on Ebay now to buy a framed print for our home! We will definitely be back. Port Angeles is an area we spend a lot of time hiking, beachcombing and rockhounding. If you ever have specials for long stays in the slow season please let me know. My husband expressed a desire to prune back some of the orchard perhaps a work/stay barter? Ideal season for heavy old growth cleanup is February. Just a thought. Either way. We love the home and want to retire there immediately. Warmly Megan and Josh Working with Brigadoon Vacation rentals was seamless. My husband and I frequently rent Vacation homes and recently decided to circumvent VRBO and Air B&B for a variety of reasons. The personal touches and thorough engagement with a private property management company far exceeds the standard routes. Brigadoon is no exception. The email communication was instant and thorough.

Spacious and Clean

This was a lovely spot to stay to explore a few tourist destinations in the Olympic National Park. We used it as a home base for two nights. Lovely deer on the property. Great views of the water, but keep in mind you have a long walk to the beaches but good directions are provided.
