About this property

Family friendly cabin close to Yellowstone National Park and Madison River

Welcome to Sheep Creek Cabin A! This beautifully appointed cabin comes fully equipped to host your family on your next Montana adventure. Whether you want to fish the blue ribbon waters of The Madison River or explore the natural wonders of Yellowstone National Park, our cabin's location will not disappoint you. Nestled into the Madison valley, surrounded by towering peaks, it is conveniently located between Ennis and West Yellowstone near the intersection of highway 287 and highway 87. This 20 acre property is about 50 miles southeast of Ennis and 32 miles northwest of the entrance to Yellowstone National Park.

The Sheep Creek Cabin A complex consists of two structures. Both Cabins have brand new heat and AC systems! Stay warm or cool no matter what the weather is doing outside!! The main cabin features a nicely appointed kitchen and dining room, with a large primary bedroom with king size bed on the main floor.
***Note to prior guests: we have just done an addition and added this brand new bedroom for the 2025 season! All work is done by the original cabin builder, maintaining the quality, aesthetics, and views of the cabin.

The main cabin also has a loft bedroom with three twin beds (can be configured as a king and a twin). There are comfortable leather sofas and a TV with high speed fiber streaming available in the living room as well. In the back portion of the cabin there is a washer, dryer, and full bathroom. Wireless high speed internet service and a phone line are also provided for use during your stay. The views from this cabin and its patio will take your breath away. Mountain ranges rise out of the sage brush flats in all directions creating a landscape that is sure to inspire you.

Steps away from the main cabin sits a separate sleeping cabin that contains a full size bed, queen size bed, and full bathroom. The Sleeping Cabin is located close enough for kids or guests on your trip yet also allows them their own space. This makes for a perfect setup for two couples or two small families. Outside on the deck you will find chairs for relaxing and a BBQ grill for those evening cookouts!

Wildlife abounds at times on the property as well as numerous places close by. Some of the creatures that can be seen from the cabins depending on the season are antelope, mule deer, bighorn sheep, coyotes, moose, rabbits, and bald eagles. If you take the scenic drive into West Yellowstone there are grizzly bears and wolves on display every day at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery center. Then grab lunch and milkshakes in town and head into Yellowstone National Park for a day of hiking, sight seeing, and photography. There are usually bison, moose, elk, deer, wolves, and more running wild around the 2,219,823 acre Park. Yellowstone Park is also home to the 109 foot tall Yellowstone falls, Old Faithful Geyser, and the numerous hot pots and hot springs.

In the nearby streams, rivers, and lakes you will find many species of trout awaiting the perfectly cast fly or lure. The Madison River located about a mile away, as the crow flies, is the #1 rated Blue Ribbon trout fishing river in the state. Or head a few scenic miles south into Idaho for more world-class fishing on Henry's Fork of the Snake River. If you prefer fishing on lakes or recreating with a boat, that's close by too. There are numerous lakes within a very short drive (less than 10 miles). These include: Quake Lake, Hebgen Lake, Henry's Lake, Conklin Lake, and Cliff and Wade Lakes.

There are several locations to rent boats, kayaks, canoes, and float tubes. Also near by are shops to buy fishing supplies, or sign up for guided fishing trips or horseback adventures!

Still looking for more to do? Take a drive to Virginia City. This is one of the neatest small towns in Montana. It has entertaining shows, great restaurants and bars. Or drive to Lewis and Clark Caverns and awe at the stalagmites and stalactites in a guided tour through the miles of underground caves and tunnels. Need another national park? Teton National Park is only two and a half hours away. Want to get your heart racing? Maybe go ziplining in Big Sky or white water rafting on the wild end of the Gallatin River.

When it comes to food there are two restaurants within 10 miles of the cabin and many more just a little further down the road. There are well stocked grocery stores in Ennis, Island Park, and West Yellowstone as well. If you're looking for an evening cocktail there are numerous watering holes just down the road that are sure to wet your whistle.

By now you know there's more than plenty to keep you entertained. If you would like help putting together your itinerary or have any questions about the area while you stay at our comfortable cabins please just ask. We are confident that you will enjoy your time spent at our cabins relaxing, or out touring the neighboring sights. When you arrive you will find clean, comfortable accommodations that will bring you back year after year. If you have more guests, there is another cabin on our property available as well. It is Sheep Creek Cabin B. It will accommodate another 6 guests! Thanks so much for your consideration.

We welcome guests of all ages to our cabins. Our place is non-smoking and we do not allow pets. We do this to help accommodate guests with allergies.

Our second time staying here. There’s good reason for returning as the property is in great shape and it’s close to the good fishing. We’d book it again!

Beautiful views

The property was clean and had adequate supply of kitchen essentials for meal preparation and dining. As stated by previous guests both showers are small but doable. The house bathroom being located downstairs and the bedroom upstairs was a bit of a hassle. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Great place just outside West Yellowstone

This was the perfect place for us to start our day trips to Yellowstone, about 30 minutes away from the West Yellowstone entrance. The cabin had everything we needed, was clean, nice hot shower, fully applianced kitchen and far enough away from town that it forced us to be in by 8 each night. We travelled with our 21 and 20 year old kids and did not want to be in town as that would bring on late nights. My son solo hiked Sheeps Creek trail and loved the small dammed lake at the end. Oh yeah, the views are spectacular day and night. We highly recommend.

Relaxing and remote

We had a great time enjoying the quiet. The cabin was comfortable and clean, the views were beautiful and the sunsets were exceptional. Only thing that I would change would be to convince the powers that be to grate the gravel road a little better but that is a pretty minor ask.

Happy Hideout

We had a wonderful stay here! The separation of sleeping areas was perfect for our two families of 3. We absolutely loved the views of the area when we were at the cabin. We didn’t mind the drive to the west entrance each day as it gave us more time to appreciate the views and wildlife as we traveled back and forth. The cabin had a fun selection of games and interesting books that we enjoyed in the evenings. The host provided excellent communication as well. If we ever make it back out west to Yellowstone we will want to stay here again!

Clean cabin with awesome views!

This cabin was perfect for our trip to Yellowstone. The few minutes longer drive to the West Yellowstone park entrance was well worth it for the quiet location with mountain views and antelope and prairie dogs right outside. The cabin was very clean and well stocked.

Cabin in Cameron, UT

It was a very nice, clean cabin. We spent limited time there due to our tour schedule over the 3 days with Yellowstone. Beautiful landscape, however having bathroom on 2nd floor w master room would have been great. Showers are very small that it’s hard to move. Unfortunately didn’t see any wildlife near to cabin but lots in YS. Would recommend brining first aid kit for emergency.

Nic. Loved the mountain view and that even though there were other residents they were not super close. Only complaint or just a little inconvenience is the shower is super small. But we worked through it.

Relaxation Cabin

The cabin was exactly as described, and nestled amongst the bottom of a beautiful mountain range. Very cozy, and close to the Madison River (excellent for anglers). Also not far from Yellowstone! We would stay again in the future!

Perfect place!

Absolutely perfect cabin in the most gorgeous of settings! We only wished we could have stayed longer! Easy drive to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park…both are spectacular but one of our favorite treasures was the area around the cabin…great hiking trail (Sheep Creek Trail 218) and spent a lovely afternoon kayaking at Wade Lake (rent from Wade Lake Cabins as you enter). The day started with a hot cup of coffee on the porch and ended with a glass of wine…on the porch! Hosts are lovely and even mailed home my daughter’s favorite shirt and shorts that we left behind in the dryer. 12/10 recommend!

Cozy Cabin

The cabin is a cute rustic style cabin in a Mount valley. Comfortable for 4 or 5 guests. Had an enjoyable time. It is a little farther from Yellowstone than I had anticipated but the area is beautiful. Enjoyed the night sky and the view.

Beautiful Remote Montana Cabin

We stayed in this cabin for 4 nights in July while exploring Yellowstone and fishing the Madison River. It is a good central location for both activities, but very remote...like most everything in Montana! One thing to keep in mind is that getting to the cabin is 2 miles down a gravel road, so have all your supplies before leaving town. We bought groceries in Bozeman thinking that there wouldn't be many options in Ennis, but actually Deemo's Meats in Ennis had a great selection of meat and the grocery store there was well stocked. The main cabin is comfortable and kitchen very functional. We packed a cooler daily with sandwiches, drinks and snacks to take in the park. We had some family who were staying in a campground nearby over one night for dinner and used the gas grill. It was fun hanging out on the porch together. The master bedroom is upstairs in the main cabin, and we were worried when we got there that it seemed much hotter than the downstairs, but it cooled off well at night. I would not recommend this cabin if you get up in the night, as the only bathroom is down a steep flight of stairs. This was not a major issue for us. The "back house" was where our teen boys got to have their own space, and they loved it! As you can see from the online pictures, the views are amazing! We weren't fortunate enough to see much wildlife other than ground squirrels and a few prong horn deer. I would book again if going to Yellowstone!

Relaxing, Beautiful and Spacious

What a beautiful stay at this property! We came as a group of 6 (including 2 adults, 2 teens, 2 seniors). Everyone was comfortable and had plenty of space. The grandparents enjoyed some privacy in the small cabin while the teens camped out in the family room with a pull out bed, futon, TV, games, etc. The kitchen is stocked with cookware, dishes, and some provisions such as cooking spices, paper towels, dish soap, etc. There is a stocked laundry room, plenty of fluffy towels, games, cards, and plenty of travel brochures. The property is simply gorgeous- we enjoyed late nights full of stars and beautiful views. There are 'neighbors' in the distance which makes you feel safe, but still far enough away to get some peace and solitude. The nearby trailhead, Sheep Creek #218, is AMAZING!!! One of the teens and I hiked about a mile in and it was picturesque and lovely. My other teen hiked all the way up to the summit (about 3 hours round trip- he ran part of it) and got some breathtaking photos. We enjoyed the neighbor dogs who came over to say hello a couple of times. Spotted sweet little ground squirrels, lots of hawks, pronghorn, and tons of different birds. Beautiful porch to enjoy a morning coffee or after-dinner drink. TV, WiFi, and even a landline just in case. Blair and team were in touch and responsive, answered questions, and were very pleasant! Would definitely recommend!!!

Cabin life.

We stayed a week and had a blast. We seen pronghorn sheep in the yard. We went to Yellowstone and Gand Teton National parks. We grilled out a couple of nights. The location was awesome. We also hiked the sheep creek trailhead right by the cabin and seen waterfalls and a mountain lake with bear and sheep sightings. Definitely would recommend
