Haven
I may have missed it, but you should plainly state that a renter has to walk 40 feet up and down a janky set of steps to access the cabin, you do not park & step in. This would not have made a difference in my case, as I booked very late and near my booking. A box of tissues & something to put your feet up on would have been nice.

Charming
The cabin was comfortable and very well appointed. Not sure why, but thought we would have views from the deck, however that was not the case. Deck backed right up to a wooded area. With that being said, the deck stayed nice and cool and very private. We were very close to a couple nice wineries a gorgeous golf course.and blue ridge parkway. Was a very nice 3 day getaway

Clean and spacious cabin
It was a good size for 2 people and for a dog. There was a deer that hung out in the back which was pretty cool. I don't usually repeat other people's reviews but I have to agree that the futon couch in the main room is very uncomfortable to sit on for any length of time. The cabin is very close to the other cabins and is not in secluded mountains. But it is easy to get to from the main road.

Relaxing trip
My family and I really enjoyed our stay in the cabin in Meadows of Dan. The cabin was very cozy, clean, and well furnished for a multi-night stay. The area was quiet and we thoroughly enjoyed the back porch. Our son loved the swing under the deck. We would definitely stay here again.

Fun family weekend getaway!
Had a wonderful time at the cabin with my family! Short drive to Fairystone State Park and other cool hiking spots. The cabin itself was well-maintained, clean and comfortable! The owner is very responsive and I give him high marks for customer service: I accidentally left some luggage at the cabin and he made sure it was returned promptly. 5 stars all around.

Cabin 13 was clean and we found everything as advertised.
We enjoyed our stay because we were together at Thanksgiving. I wished the weather had been warmer so we could have sat on the porch and enjoyed the outside view. Cabin 13 needs updating. All the beds and futons have seen better days Including the blue comforter on the downstairs bed. They should be replaced. We were lucky to have brought a queen size air mattress for my youngest son because the futon was so uncomfortable. For some reason I thought there were two queen size beds in the loft. The only place I could find that was comfortable to sit was the downstairs bed because I needed to put my feet up. The wooden rockers were not comfortable. The futon in the great room was very uncomfortable and no one wanted to sit on it. It would have been nice to have cushions on the wood benches at the table. Attention should be paid to the shower which dripped the entire stay and echoed throughout the cabin. Also the Keirig didn’t function as it was suppose to so we cleaned the larger coffee pot and purchased filters and coffee at the local store. The TV is old. We travelled around the area and were gone most of the day so we didn’t spend much time sitting around and watching tv. It would have been nice to have comfortable beds instead of my family complaining about how uncomfortable their sleeping accommodations were. Had itnot been for the poor sleeping accommodations and dripping shower I would have given the cabin 5 stars.

Disappointed we weren't in the cabin pictured
After searching for hours for the "perfect" cabin, we were surprised and disappointed that we somehow ended up in a different cabin than the one shown in the pictures, especially since this wasn't mentioned in the description that this might happen(apparently the owner/manager has 3 other cabins). We picked the one shown for it's location, so we could enjoy the peaceful, up close view of the woods from the deck with no cabins to block the view. Instead we were located at the top of the hill directly on the road next to the parking area (that looks directly into the window of this cabin), with views of the hustle and bustle of all the neighbors and the surrounding cabins. We think it should be disclosed that you may not end up in this cabin pictured so that there are no surprises, and so travelers are getting exactly what is pictured and expected. The cabin that we were put in however was nice, and it was clean, it just wasnt where we wanted to be.

2nd year
Great, clean cabin conveniently located. This year we packed for the steps down the hill so it was easy to transfer our belongings. This cabin has everything you might need for a short stay. I would recommend replacing the futon mattress downstairs and adding reading lamps for the loft. We hope to return.

Really cozy little cabins!
We really enjoyed our weekend stay in a cabin. I think we picked the perfect time because there was no one else there. There was no noise other than an occasional truck passing over on the highway. We would definitely stay again and would tell others the same thing. A couple suggestions, a recliner chair would have been really nice for us older people. Most of the furniture was upright and no place to rest your feet. A pizza pan would have helped for our evening snack. We had to cut the pizza and put on two cake pans. Also, it would have been really nice for the little restaurant to be open for breakfast. We really enjoyed breakfast eating out and was disappointed to find it only opened at lunchtime. There isn't anything else really close to go to eat other than running into the local town and looking. Maybe you could put restaurants on a list and leave in the cabin so people know where they could go. Thank you again

Perfect getaway for the family
My family loves these cabins! Steve and Linda were great to work with and very responsive. The cabins are part of a "neighborhood" of beautifully rustic cabins in the Cockram Mill Complex with all the comforts of home (TV, music, games, books). They are staggered and off a well maintained gravel drive up the ridge. We stayed in one of their cabins during the winter holidays in 2015, and loved it so much we came back to spend Christmas 2016 in the other cabin. There is a WalMart Super Center about 30 minutes away, and a little gas station-convenience/county store just 5 minutes up the road (fresh eggs, salt pork, deli etc). Don't forget to stop in the local candy and chocolate shop (Nancy's) 2 minutes away. The Blue Ridge Parkway is under 10 minutes away for scenic driving and great hiking opportunities. Highly recommended!

cozy and well equipped cabin
We really loved our stay at cabin #15. We needed a place to meet in the middle between Knoxville, TN and Washington, DC and this was it. We cooked some meals in and ate some meals out, and found the cabin to be a perfect size for two couples with infants who are not quite crawling yet. The gas fireplace made the whole place warm and inviting, and the location gave us easy access to Meadows of Dan and Floyd area attractions. At night, the stars and the total lack of noise pollution were stunningly beautiful. I wouldn't recommend this cabin for people with toddlers because the large stone coffee table and fireplace would be hazards. And for two couples who aren't close family, there might not be enough privacy. But for people with small babies, people with older kids, solo travelers, one couple, or larger groups who don't mind sharing spaces, it'd be great. Also, if you happen to be very tall, you know it can be hard to find beds in cute vacation rentals that don't have footboards. My 6'6" husband and I slept very well in the loft by putting the futon mattress on the floor. Serious foodies, I'd recommend bringing your own frying pan, a coffee grinder, and storage containers for leftovers. Otherwise the kitchen was very well equipped (MUCH better than most rental cabins in my experience). And if you don't eat pork, plan on picking up groceries in Floyd, not Meadows of Dan. We'll definitely come back!

Nice cabin but the cabin shown alone on the hill isn't the one you rent
First I want to say there was no problem with this rental. The beds and futons were adequate for our needs. The cabin was clean. The shower had plenty of hot water. There were plenty of towels and sheets. The interior lighting was a little weak so if you plan on taking at night you may need to move the lamps around to get considerable. My only complaint was that the pictures on home away lead me to believe there was only one cabin on the property. That is not the case. there were 18 cabins. the parking lots are a bit tight so large vehicles may be cumbersome to navigate with. Perhaps this was disclosed in the description. If so I missed it. So if you are looking for solitude plan to share it with the other renters. Though we only had one noisy neighbor and that was for a short amount of time as we were out hiking most of the day.

A very clean and well supplied cabin in a great location for a fall getaway.
We had a very quiet and peaceful weekend in cabin 16. It was clean, well supplied with the essential items of "home keeping", and it a great location. I will say I was surprised by the number of ladybugs but they weren't really a problem. Thanks for providing a nice place for a late fall getaway.

The cottage is located in a beautiful mountain setting close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It has all the features required to enjoy time away in a cozy mountain setting. We loved that it was dog friendly! The cottage is well appointed and maintained with comfortable beds and up-to-date appliances, etc. Loved all the books, games and CDs.

Pleasantly Surprised!
I went to visit my son, daughter-in-law, & grandson. I have been visiting this area for 11 years & this, by far, was our most pleasant stay as far as lodging. The cabin exceeded our expectations! It was lovely, cozy, so clean, & everything we needed was provided. Fireplace, loft with comfortable beds, porch, & of course, the most beautiful time to be there to see the foliage! We will definitely be back & also recommend it to others visiting the area. Thank you for providing such a lovely, clean, comfortable, & affordable cozy cabin in quaint Meadows of Dan right off Blue Ridge Parkway.

Comfortable cabin
Enjoyed staying in this comfortable convenient cabin. Well equipped and quiet. Best part is the location -- we were able to access our event in 12 minutes door to door. Would like to have had a heads up about the rustic steps down to the cabin from the parking area - we may have packed differently. Would not be great for a night time arrival or anyone with accessibility issues. We also arrived at the tail end of a heat wave. It was difficult to get the upper loft area to cool down in the evenings with just a small window unit in the downstairs living room area. Special thanks for letting us know about a phone we left behind and offering to mail it. Much appreciated! We plan to return to the area next year and will definitely consider this cabin again.

Peaceful and Unique!
Such a wonderful getaway. The cabin was so clean and comfortable. There were such unique stones and nature touches throughout. It was delightful to just sit and look around the cabin or explore the rooms and deck. My son and I met for a weekend getaway and it was perfect. I definitely would like to come back and maybe bring my canine. I was at Cabin 15 and the parking is up a hill from the cabin but the steps down are easy to maneuver. I look forward to next stay.

Easter weekend away.
Wife and I wanted to get away for the weekend. This place was everything we expected. We were surprised of the privacy even with all the other cabins around. The only thing that was a little disappointing was the amount of lady bugs inside the place. We would return again. Thanks for the stay. We love the Meadows of Dan area.
