WHALE COVE BEACH HOUSE - An idyllic three-storey summer home on the gorgeous west coast of scenic Cape Breton Island, it is set on 15 acres with an expansive 1,800’ of oceanfront to explore.

This private, full two-storey space is 2000 square feet with three large bedrooms and two full bathrooms. All three of the bedrooms feature very comfortable queen-sized beds. The spacious main floor features a large bedroom with full ensuite bath as well as a fully-equipped, large country-style kitchen that is stocked with all the essentials and includes laundry facilities. The eating area comfortably accommodates dining for six. The large living room features a wood-burning fireplace and walk-out to a massive 800-sf deck. This is the perfect area to gather, sunbathe, barbecue, dine or enjoy the spectacular unobstructed coastal views. On the top floor there are two bedrooms and a bath with walk-in shower. Wireless Fiber OP internet and Fibe TV are included, along with a Sonos sound system.

There is a suite on the garden level for the owners' use. However, this property is yours while you stay at Whale Cove Beach House. Our priority always is your comfort and privacy. We are nearby to answer questions or advise on things to do in the area.

Whale Cove is a perfect base for exploring Cape Breton Island. We are conveniently located 5 minutes off the world-famous Cabot Trail. A short 20-minute drive south along the coast is world-renowned golfing at Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs - rated #10 in the WORLD by Golf Digest! Just 20 minutes north along the coast is the charming Acadian village of Cheticamp and entrance to the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. This gorgeous home is just a short walk or 5 minute drive to three beautiful sand beaches where you can enjoy swimming in the warmest waters north of the Carolinas.

Enjoy dramatic sunsets over the ocean from the west-facing deck as you enjoy an evening cocktail. Sip your morning coffee from the deck or take it with you for a stroll along the bank at the waterfront. Watch the whales and seals as they swim past the front of the property, bald eagles as they fish or local lobster boats pass by. There are many local attractions and activities to enjoy, whether scotch tasting at the Glenora Distillery; fly fishing on the Margaree River; golfing or playing tennis at Cabot Links; relaxing on one of the local sandy beaches; hiking; whale watching; kayaking or paddle boarding; visit a local artisan or market; enjoying a local Cèilidh; square-dances; and so much more. Drive the Cabot Trail, named one of the most beautiful roadways in the world and experience unparalleled coastal views. Perfect get away

We had a wonderful stay at this home. The hosts were great - the well equipped home fits the area perfectly - it is centrally located to area attractions - it is wonderfully isolated - the deck is large and has a panoramic view of the ocean. It was great headquarters for exploring Cape Breton, but we enjoyed spending time at our home as well…happy hour on the deck watching the sun set is a must.

Incredible House- a Must Stay!

This property is amazing! The location is unbeatable: a quiet retreat in close proximity to beaches, gallery shopping, and the National Park. So the house is situated perfectly as a central spot to call home for a week-long trip exploring and enjoying Cape Breton. The views and setting of this property are breathtaking! The back deck directly overlooks the Bay of St Lawrence AND there are beautiful well-kept pathways winding through the yard right along the water’s edge- the perfect way to enjoy the sunset either with a glass of wine on the porch, or a stroll along the waterfront. There are also 3 beautiful beaches very close to the house- these are perfect for swimming, and not crowded at all, even during the sunny summer week I was there. Lloyd is lovely- a gracious and kind host who checked in at the start of my stay to make sure everything was in order. Couldn’t ask for a better place to stay!! Definitely recommend highly!!

Beautiful Property

This property was absolutely stunning. The view from the deck and the adirondack chairs is truly remarkable. You are just a couple miles off the Cabot trail and in between Inverness and Cheticamp which both have great food options. The property itself was very clean and spacious. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a few meals at home. The check-in process was extremely easy and the communication with Lloyd was spectacular. He provided recommendations for food and activities which was greatly appreciated. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway, I highly recommend this property!!

Beautiful place with spectacular views just off the Cabot Trail

This VRBO rental was in a great location near the Cabot Trail. The views from the front deck were spectacular. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the required spices and condiments. The bedrooms were comfortable. Communication with the owner was great. Very enjoyable stay.

Everything promised and more!

This is a fantastic clifftop house! Every room is spotless, tastefully decorated and attractively furnished. Large kitchen, dining area, and living room with expansive ocean views. Sunsets were sensational and we enjoyed the huge deck throughout the day, including al fresco meals. Easy access to Cabot Trail and several outstanding golf courses. Beautiful beaches are within short driving distance. The property itself provides extensive groomed clifftop walking paths, views, and attractive seating areas (but no direct water access). The property provided for every need and more - including locally sourced welcome treats. We would return in a heartbeat!

Amazing stay!

What a beautiful home and a spectacular view, especially at sunset! Loved the ambiance, the vintage look. We were 6 adults and never felt we were in each other's space. The grounds are gorgeous and even though you need to take a car to get to grocery store or restaurants, you can easily take lovely walks alongs groomed paths. Beaches nearby are great. Thanks Lloyd for being so friendly and you recommendations for restaurants were on point! Would definitely stay there again! Marisa

Nothing Short of Amazing!

Beautiful home located on the Gulf of Saint Lawrence with stunning ocean and sunset views from the expansive west facing deck. The cottage is beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The owner maintains a suite below but you would never know he's there...I actually got to meet him and he's super nice and quick to reply to any questions. The cottage is close to everything; The Cabot Trail, grocery and liquor store, gas station and The Dancing Goat Cafe and Bakery where we started every day. If you're planning a vacation in Cape Breton, I enthusiastically recommend Whale Cove Cottage. We will be back!

Amazing property and vacation!

My family of four adults had an amazing time at this property! The house was clean, spacious, well decorated, and had everything we needed for a week on Cape Breton Island. Lloyd and Hugh were lovely hosts- so kind, welcoming, and flexible with a payment issue ahead of our arrival. They provided recommendations for favorite spots and were very nice to talk to, but were also extremely quiet and respectful of guest privacy. The views from this property are even better than the photos, with amazing sunsets every night from the large deck, and lots of walking trails down to the cove and ocean. It is a great location with easy access to the Cabot Trail and Cape Breton Highlands National Park. We would not hesitate to stay here again on future trips!

Great House with Killer Views

This is a spectacular house. It has a very private setting with views of the gulf and working lobstermen from the deck. Inside it is clean, very well stocked and spacious. Lloyd and Kevin were wonderful hosts, who shared their knowledge of the area around Margaree Harbour. My wife and I couldn't recommend this property more. It was the highlight of our four week tour of NL and NS.

Cape Breton escapade

This place is a hidden gem in Magaree Harbour ! Very well located, near the Cabot trail and Inverness. Our stay here was perfect ! Sunsets on the deck and near the cliffs were amazing. Well equipped kitchen and great communication with the host (he also lives downstairs, but you’ll never know he’s there!). Thanks for everything Kevin, if ever we come back to CBI, we will definitely be back!

Heavenly getaway!

Great stay!

We leave enchanted from our stay at the Whale Cove! This was our first family family gathering since the beginning of the sanitary crisis. The house is very clean, comfortable, and well appointed. The kitchen is fully equipped and the beds very comfortable. The main room of the home is certainly the extraordinary deck with a breathtaking view of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The breakfasts, lunches and dinners on the deck will be forever remembered. The sunsets are simply remarkable! Lloyd is a terrific host, discreet and service oriented. Our three kids and their partners greatly enjoyed their stay and all the region had to offer: beaches, trekking, golf, birdwatching, etc…! Nous avons adorer notre séjour dans cette maison qui nous a offert un lieu de ressourcement et de rencontre familiale. Merci Lloyd! J’espère que nous aurons le privilège d’y retourner bientôt! Beautiful Oceanside retreat

The house is lovely and has everything you need for an extended stay. There is a beautiful trail down to the bluffs with a great hike you can do. The kids loved it. Great location for e plotting the West coast. The deck is gorgeous with great sunset and star gazing opportunities. We will definitely be back.

Simply amazing!

Our first visit to Cape Breton was so memorable, in part due to our awesome accommodations. Our experience from start to finish was top notch. Kevin was very easy to communicate with. 3 day weekend getaway

This Property was everything we had hoped for and more. The view from the large deck complete with a very comfortable table and chairs was endless. Inside the home was very clean with lots of open space. All we needed to do was move in and unpack. Highly recommend this property.

Paradise

The property is absolutely gorgeous and with 3 couples, we had ample room to be together and privacy when needed. Each of the 3 bedrooms is perfect. We so appreciated the owners taste in decorating. The kitchen is well appointed and overlooks the water, so even dishwashing was a pleasure. The deck is huge and the sunsets truly spell bounding. Kevin was easy to communicate with and was extremely helpful. We definitely would recommend this property for a peaceful relaxing stay as well as an easy jump off point to enjoy the Cabot Trail and the Margaree area. Gorgeous beaches are minutes away. I cant say enough.

Wonderful family vacation in Whale Cove.

What a great week in Cape Breton. The rental was lovely and clean. We stayed in for meals every night and the kitchen was very well equipped. Our hosts were charming and readily available and left some special treats at check-in. The property is truly magical with gorgeous views and lots of room for kids to run. There is lots of things to do nearby- including hiking in the National Park and trips to the beautiful beaches. Highly recommend!!

I always loved the west coast of Cape Breton Island where the waters are warmest, the sunsets without compare and an unparalleled coastline. I flew down to take a look at it and the rest is history.
