Wonderful view and spacious

The cabin is beautiful with provided game system for children if needed. Enough space to entertain a medium size family. The only complaint i have is the dust on the nook and cranies, maybe part of the rustic feel but im also allergy prone.

Relaxing Weekend

We stayed for the weekend while fishing a high school tournament on Saturday and Sunday. The hosts were very friendly and helped us with check in and out times because of the tournament. The cabin was awesome. The docks were great, of course the lake was low so they were almost out of the water. Will definately stay again.

Toledo bend stay

It was easy to rent and quick reply on all questions. Only problem we had was we rented the kayaks and there was no way to get to water and lunch them. Other than that family had a great time.

Great stay besides Karren next door!! We knew not to block her driveway from the instructions we received and once everyone showed up we were outside getting a game plan together on how we were going to park everyone with their boat and she instantly came outside yelling for us to move!! Besides that everything else was great!

Quiet Little Getaway

Absolutely any and everything you need is in the home. It was too cold to kayak or use the lake but the fire pit worked as entertainment at the home. We took our bikes to ride around the neighborhood but we did not feel comfortable doing so. Also, we went out for crawfish on Sunday and literally everything was closed. Only the dollar general was open but they were so extremely helpful. Had a great getaway and the home was ultimately cozy and charming. No real need to go anywhere.

Great weekend getaway!

Keeping in touch with the host was very easy. If we needed anything, she was just a text/phone call away! When we arrived late at night, they left the porch light on for us and we really appreciated that! Although, it wasn’t the cleanest. There were dead bugs all along the bathroom counter, no big deal. There was an eaten lollipop under one of the couches and a few pieces of trash under the other. Again, no big deal. I just feel like if the person before me pays a cleaning fee, then it should get cleaned. We couldn’t really fish because the wind was so bad but it was still a very relaxing weekend. There’s no much to do around. On day 2, the wind was so bad we couldn’t even throw a line, so we were going to find something to do, but had 0 luck. Regardless, for a relaxing weekend.. we’d go back!

First Vacation in 5 years

Nice and quiet House very comfortable and clean. $150 for canoe rental no access to paddles. Need to clean pine needles from around cabin, need to plug gas line in bathroom valve can be opened by kids. Other than this we enjoyed a well needed rest. Kids had a blast trying to catch fish.

Lake house♥️

Place was very cozy and home-feeling. The futons were thick and pretty comfortable. I slept like a baby in the bedroom. The view is nothing short of amazing. My fiancé couldn’t keep me away from the water if he tried :) Paddling out was fun. It was our first family trip and our 3 year old son had a blast. Didn’t catch anything but a couple perch and turtles, but still, fishing relaxes me. We loved that there’s a WII in the bunk bed room. I’d recommend to the owners to keep a spare pack of batteries there for renters, since you have that game there for use. By the time we realized we needed batteries, the stores were closed. I gave the cleanliness a 3 star, because in my opinion it could have been cleaned better by the cleaning guy. There was a dirty sock underneath the bed where I slept, that did not belong to us. When I noticed the sock, I also noticed the amount of dirt and dust under the beds and furniture. The floors did not seem to be vacuumed very well as to when we first got there and walked around, we could feel dirt on our feet when walking in some areas. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. I’m not sure what the owners expect of the cleaning guy so I think it’s important to give them my honest opinion on everything. We did have an issue with the canoes/kayaks being infested with ants when we went to use them. Understanding that’s a part of nature and beyond the owners control, I contacted her to let her know about the issue. I got a quick response and she immediately refunded us for the kayak/canoe rental and proceeded to invite us to use them if we could free of charge. After hosing one off, spraying it with bug spray and letting it sit overnight, we were able to take one out after all. The owners seem to be very nice attentive people. I definitely see why they bought this place. We are considering coming back with our entire extended family again! Toledo Bend is a beautiful place. I’d recommend.

Great place for a getaway

The view of the lake through the wall of windows was so relaxing and beautiful. Having the electric fireplace by the windows made it so cozy. We loved the feel of being in a wooden cabin. The bed was very comfortable, slept like a dream. The shower was awesome, the place is big and open and well stocked with everything you need, except as listed on your contract. There is a door that you can close off the side that has the bunk beds so the kids and adults can be separate. Wifi is spotty but that is also in contract and listing. Nice fire pit area and deck area. No complaints whatsoever. Thanks for a great stay

About the host

We are a family of 6 that loves to spend time in nature and getting away from the grind of everyday life. The outdoors is where we find peace and getting to know our children. We are both nurses and very busy parents, so getting away to unwind and spend bonding time with our kids is very important to us. We try to get out to the lake as much as we can to fish, kayak, swim, bbq or just do nothing while sitting on the deck enjoying the birds and breeze and looking out into the water. We were so blessed to find Lake Escape. We have put a lot of our heart and sweat into bringing her back to life. We'd love to share it with you and your family and friends.

Why they chose this property

Lake Escape was a hidden gem that we were lucky to find. Our family fell in love with it as soon as we saw the rustic cabin. Being right on the water and being surrounded by tall trees was just what we wanted. It offers water access to swim, kayak and fish and views that change with the time of day. The charming town of Hemphill is just a short drive away to grab a bite to eat or do some basic shopping. We feel you will fall in love with it just like we did.

What makes this property unique

The rustic cabin is very charming and cozy but offers plenty of room for everyone to stretch out. Lake views can seen from the kitchen, dining, living and back bedroom. Sipping coffee and watching the lake is relaxing as can be. And then if you want, take your coffee to the top or bottom deck to enjoy the sounds of the birds or watch the eagles & cranes swooping down to catch their fish. Dusk is just beautiful as the birds fly back home and boats come back in. And at night, the moonlight just dances on the water and lets you reflect back on a meaningful day.
