The furnished apartment of 'HARIS', are situated in the sea village of Armenistis of Ikaria Island - the island of longevity - a Greek island in the far east of the Mediterranean, with its beautiful coves, rocky cliffs, steep valleys and broken canopy of scrub and olive groves and has one vital difference of any other place in the world: people here live much longer. In fact, people here live on average 10 years longer than those in the rest of Europe and America – around one in three Ikarians lives into their 90s. Not only that, but they also have much lower rates of cancer and heart disease, suffer significantly less depression and dementia, maintain a sex life into old age and remain physically active deep into their 90s. What is the secret of Ikaria? We welcome you to visit us and find out.. The apartments are in the heart of Armenistis and all have a splendid view of the coastal area and the mountains. Access to the beaches, the local restaurants, is only a few minutes walk. The apartment is fully air-conditioned, have wi-fi connection and have a fully equipped kitchen. Bed linen and towels are changed every three days, cleaning provided every three days or upon request as well as laundry service.The beds are twin-beds, i.e. they can be together as a double or separated for single use. You can sit on the balcony of our apartments and enjoy a wonderful view of the coast. Our open garden is furncshed for your relaxation. The apartments are available from Mid- May to Mid - October and pricing depends on the month, duration and the number of people. Quiet & Beautiful
Staying at the Haris Apartment was a pleasant and memorable experience. The accommodations were adequate and located within walking distance of a grocery store that offered essential foods for healthy eating. Beaches nearby were attractive and walkable barefooted.

Decent apartment with all amenities.
The apartment was nice and clean. Air conditioning and hot water had no issues. Amenities ie: coffee machine, stove, fridge, pans utensils all there. Cafes, bars, food, market, beaches, shops all really close distance. It is a really easy place to stay at. You can arrive and begin to chill out, which Armenistis is perfect for.

100% recommend!
Haris and Cynthia were amazing hosts, with incredible hospitality. The apartment was huge, had a full functioning kitchen and air conditioning, and a beautiful balcony view. Anyone who get's a chance to stay with them should consider themselves lucky, they were an incredibly great representation of what makes Ikaria and it's people great.

The best Ikarian hospitality you will find !
15 days of paradise ! The apartment is clean, well situated and has a beautiful view over the sandy beaches. Haris is the best host, the best cook and, after our stay, now also a good friend. He took us out to restaurants where I learned to dance the Ikariotikos, taught me to dance the tango, took us to a Greek wedding and was very helpful in trying to find us a house to buy on the island. I'm not going to do too much publicity for the island as, quite selfishly, I think it's best if it remains a secret ......... What more can I say except an enormous thank you to Haris and Cynthia and we'll see you again soon !!!

Living life the Ikarian way!
As Americans arriving in the remote island of Ikaria, locals and tourists alike often asked, "How did you find this island?" It was simple - the hot baths and festivals. What we didn't expect to find was a friendship that we hope to maintain forever. The owners of Haris Apartments in Armenistis, Harry and Cynthia, are so warm, hospitable and fun! We attended the festival with their family and had an amazing time! My 14 year old daughter and I danced till nearly 4 AM (check out this video....it sold us on the island http://www.island-ikaria.com/nightlife/panagiria.asp). The following night, we went for dinner with Harry and Cynthia where a band was playing, provoking dancing in the streets – it was great fun! The apartment itself is well appointed with a beautiful view of the ocean from the balcony and the sunset off the back stairs. You are within walking distance to 3 beaches. Ikaria is a hilly island with rocky beaches (my preferred style of beach), but Armenistis offers sandy beaches as well. If you're looking for a true get away experience to an island with mostly Greek's and one that is rich in local culture, this is the place to go. Non-Greeks represent only 10% of the tourism - it is a popular place for young Athenians to get away and enjoy the adventures of the island. There are good trekking options, beaches, natural hot springs that come straight out of the ocean floor, and, the wonderful festivals. Hitchhiking is a common mode of transportation as there is little in the way of public transportation (Lucy and I did it a couple of times – very safe). If you make a trip to Ikaria, stay with Harry and Cynthia - you won't regret it!!!
