About this property

Diamond A Cattle Tourist Cabin

Our 1940s tourist cabin has been recently remodeled. There is a full-sized bed in one bedroom and a twin sized bed in the other bedroom. The small bathroom with a shower has just been updated with beautiful new tile. An equipped small kitchen has a full-sized refrigerator and an apartment sized stove. We can grocery shop for you if you would like and have your groceries (and the bill) waiting for you when you arrive. We have access to farm fresh eggs.
You will have only 1 1/2 miles of gravel to travel on to get to our ranch.
We offer tours of our ranch. On the ranch is the original 1906 Homestead Shanty that was built for the Ashley Brothers. The shanty holds three pieces of original furniture along with other period furniture. The shanty was occupied until 1956.
A one room rural schoolhouse built in 1905 sits next to the tourist cabin. Desks, books, maps, a wood burning stove offer an opportunity to play act and pretend you are either the teacher in the school or the dunce. One corner inside the schoolhouse has a voting booth and the original voting box.
We have a camp store that is open all the time. Cowgirl necklaces made by our real cowgirl and cowboy grandkids. Chokecherry jelly. Dill pickles, Bad River Beef Jerky, Pemmican and Summer Sausage. (Pemmican is what the Native Americans made with ground buffalo, antelope or deer and nuts and fruits).
We now have a Free Library so you can pick a book, read it at the Diamond A Ranch or take it with you on your travels. When you are done with the book, you can find another Free Library and return it there. Near the Free Library is a "Take a Stick, Leave a Stick" Library for dogs.
Diamond A Cattle Company has both an indoor and an outdoor roping / rodeo arena. Events held at the arenas are barrel racing, bull riding, team penning, team roping and Cowboy Mounted Shooting.
Corriente cattle used for team roping, steer wrestling and bull riding are raised on the Diamond A Cattle Co. We will show off our cattle on our ranch tour.
If you are traveling in your own RV, we have electrical hookups located next to the cabin. We charge $25 per hookup.
Diamond A Cattle Company offers overnight stabling for your horses. Your horses can spend the night in our outdoor arena or in smaller pens inside or outside. We charge $20 per horse per night.
We are only 17 miles from the Missouri River. We can offer suggestions for dining and touring.

Unique lovely farm stay

Lovely host and very unique tiny home farm stay. Really enjoyed the prace and quiet of country living. My host Krystal was very attentive and had great communication with me. The horses and gorgeous sunrises and sunsets were an added bonus! This will be a regular stop in my cross country travels

Cool location

I needed a place for 1 night on my trip. I didn't want a random hotel. Really glad I found this. Just what I expected. Great bed and shower. Bob the cat and Fred the dog were a pleasant greeting. I wish I could have found where the coffee and filters might have hiding but it was a cool spot.

Quirky Doesn't Do It Justice

The owners could not be blamed for the rain that day, nor the mud that filled almost every inch of the parking area (I can't speak for the people who got stuck). The cabin was open, and we appreciated the strong workout to get the door open after sitting in the car so long. Fortunately the rain helped to cool us as we worked. It was charming how we asked about the wifi password and the nice gentleman had no idea what that was (he thought it was 'some Native American thing"). There were plenty of mouse traps to keep the rodents away and cleanser so we could clean the durty sink - very thoughtful! No mirror or hooks in the bathroom but never fear - you can use the medicine cabinet door to hang your towel. As budding entemologists we were fascinated by the swarms of ants on all the windows - we were so excited by finding them we could hardly sleep! An extra thoughtful touch was the bottle used as a spitoon by the previous tenet was left beside the bed with still plenty of space in it. We unfortunately couldn't stay long enough to make breakfast. The fridge was spotless.

Charming hosts and peaceful property.

Truly enjoyed meeting Crystal, Tucker and Carson. Fred the dog and Bob the cat welcomed us upon arrival. Crystal was so welcoming and kind. I had a delicious burger at her cousin’s restaurant (Buzzard Bar) - Crystal called Cousin Lonnie and told him to take care of me 😊. Wish I could have stayed longer!

Nice quiet stay on a private ranch

It was a nice little rustic cabin. A great place for our little dog. Our host Crystal was very communicative and the place was nice and quiet. A great place to stay the night when you’re on the road and need to get away from the interstate drive for a while.

Millions of stars!

We enjoyed our stay in this quaint little tourist cabin. It had all the necessities for a quiet night in the country. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets and the night sky was fabulous. This is a working cattle ranch with all the things that go along with that. Our host was helpful with suggestions for sightseeing and great food, a great storyteller and guide. We'll plan to stay here again if we are ever in the area...our love to Bob the Cat :)

Quiet

We enjoyed our stay. We never met the owners during our time there. It could have used some more comfortable seating. The small couch was okay. We wanted to go see the school house, but both nights there were people parked there with campers. It was secluded and quiet which we wanted.

Hidden Gem

Didn't know what to expect. but this hidden little gem was a pleasant leap back into the past! So it isn't the Ritz or Waldorf but you're not looking for that if you are staying here. If you are looking for a quiet and clean place to relax and a very affordable price... you found it! The property is maintained and has a convenient country store for those items you may have forgotten to include trailer electrical hookups! There is also an old school house that looks like when they closed the door some 100 years ago, they just never came back; very cool to see. thank you for the accommodations, Crystal!

Great Property

We had a very nice experience at Crystal's place. Crystal had everything we needed, the cabin was well stocked, very clean and nicely decorated. It was close to Chamberlain, but far enough to be very quiet except for an occasional crowing from a pheasant.
