Historic Downtown Annapolis Waterfront, 1936, with a deep water dock, and kayaks
Absolutely gorgeous downtown waterfront home. Loaded with historical significance and character, all while minutes walking distance to museums, restaurants and festivities on Main Street Annapolis. This home has a deep water slip for up to 40 feet. There are also kayaks and canoes guests may enjoy. And if you aren't up for the short walk to ego alley?... Take the water taxi, they will pick you up and bring you back to 5’s dock. This locally legendary house has had only 2 owners since 1936, each with deep ties to USNA and USMA. It is truly a family home they are happy to share. It’s not a ‘rental’ and the owners desire guests who will treat the home as their own. It is their joy to share this little gem with people who love Annapolis and it’s history.
This home is the definition of tranquility as a virtually secret place in the middle of a city. Tucked away on the waterside of Southgate Ave., it is peaceful, quiet and completely private. Sleeps six adults and two children comfortably. Fully equipped kitchen. Laundry on-site. Walking distance to everything Annapolis. This home is truly one of a kind.
Note that there is street parking only. The photo of the driveway aims at showing the guests that the entrance to the home is down the driveway and behind 7 Southgate Avenue. This home was built in 1936 for the daughter of the then owners of 7 Southgate. Hence the legacy access. There are multiple garages that are less than .4 of a mile away if extended M-F daytime parking is needed. 2 hour weekday limit but no night or weekend parking restrictions. Both uptown and downtown Annapolis are easy walking distance from Southgate Avenue through beautiful Murray Hill.

We loved this charming house The hosts left a book with the story of the people who have lived there and you could just feel the history. We rented it for the Annapolis Holiday lights parade and what a spectacular location. Our kids had such a great time. It was perfectly appointed and comfortable. We walked downtown. Everything was easy. The host was available all weekend for answering questions. Thank you so much. We had a great time!!
Our stay could not have been better. The house is in the perfect location for visiting Annapolis and all the city has to offer. We were in for the fall sailboat show. Water taxi picks up and drops off right from the dock. The house was well appointed and stocked with anything you might need. Our host was easy to communicate with and we never had any issues. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience
Very nice time and would recommend. Make sure to have apps to mirror or download on TV. Internet gliches and disconnects while watching. Other than that, view from deck is great and neighborhood is awesome. Kitchen is well stocked.
We just came back from spending a long weekend in Annapolis, celebrating two birthdays.
This property is just perfect with so much history in the most amazing view.
Erin was easy to work with and very quick to respond.
As it’s been mentioned, there really is no need for a car, Take the water taxi everywhere. It’s the best way to get around.
Check in was a breeze and property manager was thoroughly communicated with us regarding how to get in property, where to park, where to eat and she even provided expert advice on water taxi. (Note; for water taxi it’s easier to walk to end of street instead of homes dock for the water taxi to see you and pick you up) water taxi was $6/person for downtown compared to $10 for Uber. It’s about a push with tip for 2 people….cheaper for more than 2.
House was cute and had everything we needed. Bathrooms are small but clean and water pressure was good. Beds could use a little updating, they were firm, but we were so exhausted from walking 20,000+ steps each day it didn’t really matter. Neighborhood is quiet with plenty of street parking. We would stay here again for sure and enjoy more time on the dock and enjoying the water but it was only a 2 nighter for us.
The owner and his team went above and beyond in every way for our team. Their communication was direct, immediate, and deeply helpful.
Beautiful home with so much history.
Highly recommend!
This property is beyond beautiful. Morning coffee views are timeless!!

Great location on water
This cottage is set on the water with a wonderful deck and lounge area with a view and kayaks that we used to get to know the area. The neighborhood is very nice and a walk to town. There are 3 sets of bunk beds and one king bed. The house was adequate for our needs for the week and a reasonable drive time to DC. The only suggestion for improvement would be to declutter the place. Every cupboard, shelves, under sink, closets and drawers were stuffed with tools, cleaning products, sheets, family photos and memorabilia. The kitchen is tiny and the sink is covered with appliances that we had to move and store in the water closet off the kitchen so we had a place to put our groceries. There are old electronics everywhere in the downstairs. The security camera’s everywhere inside are creepy. Just declutter the place. The cottage is charming with great history and is a gem if it were cleaned up for short term rental purposes. Currently it feels like grandma moved out for the week so we could stay there. I would stay here again if declutterred though. Charming location and neighborhood. Great value.
We had a lovely stay over Boat Show weekend. The location is convenient to town and being able to catch the water taxi directly from the dock was absolutely perfect. The house is quaint and cozy - quintessential Annapolis. Only suggestion would be to add a full or Queen bed to one of the guest bedrooms. Otherwise we had a great time.
We had an incredible weekend in this charming city and the EXCLAMATION POINT was this home from start to finish! This home is quaint and you can feel the history talking in it! From dusk to dawn the back porch was a favorite spot overlooking Spa Creek. We so wanted to take the water taxi to town, but did not get to use that fun option! Next time! The kitchen worked great and when we had one small issue with the dishwasher, the property manager was quick to help us. In fact, she was available the whole weekend and responsive as we had little questions here and there. We brought 8 guests which filled every bed. ALL raved about the character of this historic charmer! It entertains very easily and the galley kitchen ended up being overly competent at serving up a large group of hungry folks. The oven heated quickly and we cooked up some yummy dinners and breakfasts in there. The only downfall was parking but our manager advised us well on that issue. Beds were very comfortable, Showers great. We LOVED the numerous places to sit in the living room and this worked great to serve up a fun Friday night dinner our group. Also, the dinner room has a lot of candles. We lit them up and it was delightful! There also is an antique expandable dining table that can seat at least 8. We would LOVE to come back to enjoy this best kept secret soooooon! Spa Creek Boutique! Thank you for the memories we will treasure forever with our Midshipman and his friends. A PLUS.
Tucked away on Spa Creek, this home is an easy walk to Main Street, USNA, and Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. It's an older home but clean with many thoughtful accoutrements (like device charging stations) and friendly "leave more than you take" philosophy to supplies you'll likely need during your stay. I ran into one issue with a faulty sensor shutting off the water the first night of our stay. It happened late on a Friday night. The owner identified the problem remotely over night and had it fixed by 4AM. The level of responsiveness was amazing!
We did a milestone birthday celebration at this sweet house and it was just perfect. We had a mixed group so the bunk beds worked for us. The deck (with a retractable awning) overlooks the water and was great for morning coffee and happy hour. It was one of the highlights for us. The kitchen is small but well appointed with everything you might need and there's an ice maker in the basement.
We were able to (snuggly) dock a 35' sailboat, but it did take some thoughtful maneuvering. They offered kayaks, but we didn't use them; however you can see it would be fun and easy to kayak, canoe, paddle board, etc. off the end of the dock.
Accessing downtown was easy (~1 mile) via Uber or a 15 minute walk. The water taxi can be requested right to the end of the dock which was a fun little adventure.
The hosts were fabulous and very easy to work with. We'd love to rent it again!
Beautiful spot in a quiet residential neighborhood, right on the water with a dock.
This is a very charming property right on Spa Creek with a deep water dock. The neighborhood is very nice and very quiet. The property has a small deck overlooking the creek which was a great place for coffee in the morning and cocktails in the evening..
My friends and I had a lovely time at this gorgeous house! Our favorite spot was the deck overlooking Spa Creek. It was an easy walk downtown and so fun to have the water taxi pick us up from the dock! We are also UVA alumni so it was exciting to see all the photos inside.
The property is lovely and it was exactly what we needed during our stay in Annapolis. The location is ideal—close enough for walking around historic Annapolis, yet tucked away on a quiet street. The home was clean and just what you would expect from a historic property. We also utilized the boat dock during our stay and found it to be most convenient.
We would stay here again!
