Shipwatch oceanfront condominiums, offered by Hodnett Cooper, have been a favorite family destination for many years. With just 52 residences, Shipwatch is a quiet community ideal for both weekend getaways and multiple month escapes.

Each residence features two bedrooms, two full baths, a combined living, dining, and kitchen area, and a private balcony. #114 is located on the first floor above parking, and is beautifully furnished in bright, beach decor.

Community amenities include boardwalk access to the heart of St. Simons' sand beaches, a swimming pool, volleyball area, large grass lawn, outdoor grills and complimentary in-room high speed internet service.

Though this community is located directly on the ocean, individual residences, unless otherwise specified, do not offer ocean views.

Up to two pets, under 35-lbs each, are accepted for a $150 non-refundable charge.

Brief review

Size wise good for three people no more than four. First floor not good if third floor people above you, especially if they are loud & noisy. Our last night was sleepless due to noise. Longer walk to beach than expected. Thermostat was on 62 and master was not cool, so it would’ve be wise to take a fan. Master needs a ceiling fan. If you climb and hang over railing you have an ocean view. Kitchen was well stocked but no Keurig.

BUG SPRAY

The location was great. The unit was nice but needs some TLC. The pool was not crowded which was nice. Now, the walk to the beach was a trek and involved some wetlands with a few hundred thousand mosquitoes. You will need bug spray and sunscreen for the beach.

Great pet-friendly option/location

Perfect location. Condo was nice and clean. Management was responsive. No WiFi and management couldn’t help but beach was focus. Thin ceilings so you can hear if small children are above you but overall great experience and condo.

Not exactly like the photos!

Property was ok but a lot further back from the beach... 2-3 football fields, I'd say. Plumbing needs attention. One shower drains poorly. Icemaker does not work. Incorrect wifi details were initially provided but mgmt helped same day. Not far from the boardwalk & lighthouse area, but you'll want to drive there. Pool area ok but not huge. Balcony on first floor units, too, and they are pretty small. Patio furniture needs replacing. Chairs were suspect. If you use lots of towels, prepare to do laundry daily.

Icemaker broken. Room not clean. Patio furniture rust and seats torn. Hair was in bed. Floor had sand when walked in. Bathroom sink stopped up. Can hear people above us. Kept us awake 4 nights out of 7.

Absolutely loved our stay- couldn't have been easier!

We loved our stay with Hodnett-Cooper. The checkin process was so easy and the condo was well-equipped. The condo itself was lovely. Very comfortable and we slept well every night. Some features are a little dated, but we expect that with a vacation rental. 10/10 would definitely stay here again.

small problem - with consequences

The location was awesome. The property was fabulous. The only thing wrong was that the king size mattress is way past its due date. We tried sleeping as usual - we both felt like we were rolling off the edges. My husband finally slept horizontally at the foot of the bed; I slept at the high point in the middle. We both ended up taking pain meds for our backs. We will definitely stay at this property again, but not at this unit. Also, we tried to get hold of someone 3 different times to get an extra parking pass - we were never successful. We're glad it wasn't serious.

Stay was fantastic. Ashley was very responsive about WiFi issue; resolved thank you. Property we stayed had everything just a bit dated but very functional. Really superb location and well organized by property managers. Request updated checkin instructor Covid be included in pre-arrival emails. Really enjoyed many thanks to the team that makes it al happen!! Will visit again for sure!

Fantastic stay at the beach

Our stay here was fantastic. It was difficult to find the combination of pet friendly + beach access but we found it here and fell in love with the property. It is a short walk down a private (to the building) wooden walkway right onto the beach. This was perfect to walk our dog out and walk her along the waves. The check in process was incredibly easy as we just had to pick up our welcome packet upon arrival. This was perfect as we arrived several hours later than originally planned. Check out was equally as easy as we just needed to drop our keys in the lock box on our way out. Leading up to the stay all of this was easily communicated to us via email and a quick response on the few questions we had. The unit was clean and access to the in-unit washer and dryer was fantastic. The bed is a king and, due to our lack of reference frame, we felt like we were sleeping on the biggest bet on the planet. The immediate surrounding area has a few shops and restaurants, but unfortunately the pet-friendly spots were not within walking distance. This was the only thing I would have changed. Overall a fantastic experience and I expect this not to be the last visit we make!
