A soul soothing escape. Artistically built and lovingly maintained.
Secluded & artistically built - a cozy cabin on top of Hampshire Hill. For those who want to remember what silence sounds like. Sit, enjoy the views, hear yourself think, or go explore 70 acres of private woods w 2 miles of private trails. 10 minutes from downtown Belgrade Lakes & public beaches on Long Pond & Great Pond. Close to Kennebec trails, snowmobile trails, Farmington & Augusta. 1 hr south of ski resorts. Great for stopping for 1 night or for taking a week to escape from the world. Snow tires and/or 4wd required in Winter months (October through April). We do plow and sand but more snow accumulates on top of the mountain. There is a .2 mile uphill that can be difficult in bad weather. Suggest that you arrive during daylight hours as it is very dark up there and can be difficult to navigate.

10/10. We had a wonderful stay last week. The house had everything we needed and more. It is located in beautiful location and has stunning views! We can’t wait to come back.
My husband, dog and I had an amazing few days at Kate’s cabin. Though there are nearby opportunities for adventure and exploration, we found ourselves drawn into just being still and soaking in the immediate surroundings. Our most challenging decision in any moment was which deck/screen porch to sit on - each hangout spot has its own little flavor and takes advantage of the views in a different way.
The interior of the cabin brings the outside in with whimsical touches everywhere you look. We appreciated the couch covers so our dog could lounge with us on the comfy sofa. Our dog appreciated the memory foam dog bed which he chose repeatedly over the bed we brought for him from home!
Kate is an excellent host. She reached out intermittently leading up to our stay and on the day of our arrival to make sure we were settled. She left us a very delightful and generous welcome basket of goodies, too : )
This is truly a special place and we absolutely loved it!!
(One tiny word of advice if you plan to cook is just to be sure to bring every little thing you might need. While there were a few pantry items on hand there were a couple staples that had been depleted. While the cabin isn’t isolated, it’s remote enough that running out for one or two items isn’t very convenient. In our case we were looking for salt and pepper, cooking oil, and sugar for coffee. It didn’t hamper our enjoyment in the least, but I hadn’t thought to pack those things so just a heads up to future travelers.)
Me and girlfriend wanted to get away for a short stay and it was perfect. Our only regret we didn’t stay longer. Amazing host, very helpful. Prefect for private get away with your significant other. Would recommend
My husband and I just completed our 3d visit to properties owned by Host Kate. I really think the fact that we have returned twice after our initial visit speaks volumes about the quality of the property and our enjoyment of the area.
We have already reserved for next year.
Our rental was perfectly appointed for 2 and
our Host was always available if needed. But when good management is in place, the contact with the host is very minimal...
The cabin is perched on the side of a mountain
and enjoys great views of mountains from the porch.
Outdoor dining and seating, comfortable bed, fire pit, screened porch, private gazebo and myriad other amenities comprise just a small part of the great experience we had.
Make a reservation and you will take the first step toward creating a memorable vacation experience in a charming setting!
I cannot praise his property enough!
Thanks, Kate!
A beautifully unique gem to unplug. Loved the pet friendliness, the privacy(with a stunning view), the hiking opportunities in the region and the communication with the property manager! The cabin has many spaces as well. The gazebo, the screened in porch and my favorite, the deck off the bedroom. Great for morning coffee or evening glass of wine!
This was such an incredible mountain getaway! The cabin was perfectly appointed and stocked with everything we needed for a cozy, peaceful retreat! No detail was spared, and Kate was extremely responsive if we needed anything. We loved Kate's guidebook for the area and had a great time exploring the area and using her recommendations! Oh and the view was spectacular! Even on a rainy day, the cabin was a magical place. Thank you!
It is a beautiful property and special whimsical place. Kate was so kind and responsive. She truly cares about her guests experience. We are grateful, Kate. Thanks for sharing you mountain home with us.
If I could give 6 stars I would. This place is beautiful, charming, comfortable and totally peaceful. The views and spaces to enjoy them are fabulous. The artist’s touches the owners put into it are perfect and they are maybe the most thoughtful hosts we’ve encountered in many rentals around the country. Next time we’re anywhere close we will be back.
Excellent property for a couple to get away! Very well appointed and while you feel remote you are minutes away from restaurants and a great local market. The views are wonderful right from the cabin which has an enclosed screened porch and the treehouse has two levels for watching the sunset. Kate is great to work with and we highly suggest you take to the offer of having meals prepared by the local chef Lisa - the food was great and plentiful! Overall a great stay and a place we can see returning to for a winter hide away!
Attention to important details that enhance travelers’ rentalexperience
My husband and I wanted to visit the beautiful Belgrade Lakes area before the busy foliage season. We were intrigued by all we saw in photos and reviews about Kate-Ah-Den in New Sharon. We rented with high hopes!! May I say that we were smiling from the time we pulled into the driveway and saw the scope of the view of the western mountains until we left 3 days later. Kathryn, our host, has created a unique, welcoming, cozy and perfectly appointed home perched on the top of a hill. We had all the modern conveniences while enjoying the sights and sounds of the
woods around us. Our screened porch view to the west was high above the tree line and provided us with hours of peaceful
relaxation. We took separate road trips to both Sugarloaf and Saddleback ski areas that were perfect short excursions. We never bothered with finding a restaurant for dinner because we didn’t want to miss the sunset. We cannot recommend this property more enthusiastically. There is a “sister” cabin nearby that we have already reserved for next September….rental of both simultaneously would be great for family or friends traveling together who wish to enjoy some privacy in their lodging!
The rates were extraordinarily reasonable.
Thanks to Kathryn for such a pleasant stay!

My fiancé & I booked a week here with our dog and we were in constant amazement of the cabin, the view and how incredibly sweet the host was! We’ve stayed in a variety of places and this blows everything out of the water. When it advertises as pet friendly, she means it! Our pup absolutely loved the little dog loft area and enjoyed looking out the window! There was even a towel for muddy paws set up at the front door!
The hostess, Kate, truly sets the bar for how to treat her guests! Extremely helpful and very thoughtful! Even includes some beer from local breweries to enjoy after a day of traveling! I can’t forget to mention her and her husbands art/craftsmanship they have shared around their home! You can feel the heart and warmth they have put into this place!
If you want to get off the beaten path in the most unique, beautiful, comfortable home with a killer view - maybe the best in Maine - look no further. Kate designed this incredible whimsical haven with nothing left out. Lots of positive energy and beautiful artwork, most of which was done by Kate, makes this one of the coolest places you will ever find. Easy drive into Belgrade Lakes too. Can’t wait to return!
Beautiful on the outside, beautiful on the inside. This was exactly what we were hoping for - amazing view, great fireplace, nice trails nearby. Can't wait to be back (:
We were looking for a quiet and relaxing getaway. This totally delivered!
Fantastic views, tranquil and comfortable. Took advantage of the trails on the property and went snowshoeing. Enjoyed the wood stove afterwards. Thank you!
It was an amazing way to spend our honeymoon. The view is beautiful and breathtaking!
Amazing property and deffinitely planning on returning. Thank you so much. Honestly pictures do not do this place justice!!
