Best Vacation Ever!
"This is the best vacation ever!" exclaimed my grandchildren about halfway into our stay at The Reel View. And, indeed it was. There were 13 of us staying at the house, with other extended family members in a nearby house. We spent most of the afternoons and evenings in The Reel View because of its water front and fabulous dock. Even though the access to the dock was steep, it did not deter anyone--especially since we rented a UTV upon the strong advice of the owner and previous renters. The children loved jumping off the dock into the deep water. We also took full advantage of the kayaks and the paddle board provided by the owners. My 14 year old grandson spent copious amounts of time fishing from the dock or from the kayak. The best thing we did, though, was to rent a pontoon boat for the week. Mike met us and gave a boat lesson to our designated "captain." He also told us about taking the boat to some islands farther up the lake. Being among the oldest, I loved riding in the boat, but the younger people claimed that being pulled in a tube behind the boat was the best! Having a boat at our disposal for the week was a definite plus! This house was extremely well equipped! Most evenings other extended family members who were staying in the same neighborhood joined us for supper. We had plenty of dishes and glasses and cookware--which is not always the case in short term rentals. The Reel View is a great place for families and friends to gather!

Awesome views lots to do
The house was great for our big family. We enjoyed the boat with wake board and tube. Kayaks and paddle board were a lot of fun too (very spidery when we arrived) the dock gave us plenty of room for fiahing, sunning and playing in the water

Fall Get Away
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. Breath taking spectacular views of the lake and the mountains!! The kitchen was well stocked with utensils for all our needs, the hot bathtub was perfect, the beds were very comfortable. The most important positive feature of the accommodation was the owner Ginny - so timely with responses. Thank you Ginny!! Hope to stay at this property again.

Beautiful view
The Reel View home has an absolutely gorgeous view of Lake James from its elevated location. Our family had a much fun during our weekend stay. The pontoon boat rented with the home was terrific. We were able to explore Lake James and get a wonderful lunch from one of the lake's marinas. All in all, a very satisfying get away for all of us.

Beautiful Cabin with Everything You Need
For the last 6 years, our company takes a group trip at the end of every summer and this was our favorite cabin by far. It had everything we needed in the kitchen -- from dishes to spices, all the extra appliances, and even an ice machine! The spaces accomodated all of us at once which is a rare find. All the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The hot tub was clean and roomy, the firepit was well stocked with firewood and seats, the dock had 2 kayaks and a paddleboard. There were lots of games to play in the living areas on the lower and main floor and even had a guitar! The lake was PERFECT! The water was warm and great for floating. We didn't rent the owners pontoon boat this trip but decided we absolutely would if we stayed there again in the future. The hike down to the lake is relatively easy but the hike back takes some work haha. We all had to take multiple breaks coming back up. We decided against renting an ATV from a local company but if you want to enjoy the lake as much as possible then you should consider getting one. We all just carried down coolers and floats and spent the day down there but it would have been much better to come and go as we wanted. Still worth every second of it tho! Not a complaint -- just a recomendation to anyone reading. All in all, we enjoyed this cabin VERY much. We are lad we chose this property and would highly reccommend it to anyone considering a stay.

Best vacation home
Perfect stay in Nebo, NC that included 10 adults a 2 year old and newborn. Plenty of room for everyone. The view from the house was incredible. We rented the pontoon boat from the owner, and no regrets there. George was wonderful in coming to the house, and provide step by step instructions on docking and driving the pontoon. This was our best family vacation

Annual family gathering
The house is large with wonderful large and small gathering areas on multiple levels. The lower level gaming areas are fantastic and a draw for young and old. Rocking chairs on the back porch offer a beautiful view of Lake James and beyond. Seating for meals inside and out works for large groups. We used the adjacent counter to set out the food for “make your own” dinners. There is so much to do that the TV was never once turned on.

Splendid but Steep
There is so much to say that is positive about this home but be certain that you read the reviews about the elevation of it. The views are gorgeous but came with a true challenge for most of our group to navigate to the water. If you want your family to unplug, this home will support that goal-internet is spotty at best. The kitchen is stocked with items people left behind, which was so helpful. There are not enough kitchen towels nor hand towels in the home. We bought and left ours. The utensils, dishes, and cooking paraphernalia were plentiful and the additional refrigerator in the lower level was definitely needed. There are no blow dryers, so plan accordingly. Ginny was very responsive to our questions and needs to those they were willing to address (ordered a new paddle as the SUP one was broken, had life preservers dropped off, but notified that the one hand towel in the half bath was all that would be provided, no to hair dryers and no to additional kitchen towels (2 were in the kitchen)). There is very mixed water pressure. Some faucets/showers had it, most did not. The location of this home was ideal for our family. We rented a boat from a local marina. The lake is beautiful beyond description and peaceful.

The post is not does not completely and accurately describe the rental.
We rented for a family get together with my mother, siblings, spouses and mostly adult children. The house is beautiful with a nice view of the lake. We enjoyed the boat, hot tub and relaxing on the decks. The kitchen was nice and had everything we needed for meals. The bedrooms were nice and mattresses were very comfortable. We did have several concerns, specifically with the accuracy of the posting. The posts states that there is free WiFi. The wifi was weak and inconsistent which was even stated on the welcome/info letter posted in the kitchen. Several family members had to go into Marion to log into work because the wifi was not connecting/staying connected. The response from the owners was that connection can be poor in the mountains. I understand that, but it should be noted in the posting. The posting describes a great gameroom. The foosball table worked-that was it. The air hockey table had poor airflow, dead spots and a hole in the top.My son and I tried to play but had to give up. The kids got only one game on the arcade table to work. Again, don't advertise things that you don't have. The posting describes and shows a steep path down to the dock and states that "you can cut through to the stairs" to get down. There are over 150 (yes, we counted) steep, narrow, homemade stairs down to the dock. Not clearly described in the posting. Plus several cleanliness issues. Didn't get great response from owners- can't recommend.

Great Spot for Our Family Reunion
We came from all over the US to gather at this house. The house was very nice, clean and comfortable; the view was spectacular. The boat and lake was tons of fun all week. Nearby mountain biking and roller skating were hits for those who wanted to get out for a bit. When any (minor) issues arose, the hosts were very responsive and dedicated to making sure they were addressed to the best of their ability and that we were having a good time. Some things to be a ware of: Internet is spotty at best and often didn't work. It's also worth repeating others' many warnings that the walk to the lake is steep. Any individuals with mobility issues can make it difficult and potentially dangerous to do. A UTV would be very helpful (We didn't come across any UTV vehicle rentals available in the immediate area, but maybe we missed them). The area is buggy; I think we all got at least a few bites... but that's part of the charm of staying in a cabin in the woods on a beautiful lake. We had a wonderful time, made lasting memories, and recommend this listing.

Beautiful home, so clean. Everything was wonderful. The walk to the water was difficult to say the least. So glad none of us were elderly or had health problems. We would consider renting again but would have to bring gas powered utility cart in order to reach water and dock.

The view of the lake and mountains is nothing short of magical. It was beautiful. We also renting the pontoon with the property. It was a wonderful experience. We had plenty of room for all of us. As others have stated, the path to the lake is steep. For those of us that had difficulty navigating the steep path, we met the boat at a nearby marina. It worked out well, and we had an amazing time.

Beautiful house, wonderful experience
We went to Lake James with our kids for a long weekend in the fall. It rained a good bit of the weekend, but the house was so lovely with so much to do that we still had an amazing time! The pictures don’t do it justice. It is a true luxury log cabin in the mountains! The kitchen had everything we needed and the house had plenty of space to accommodate everyone. The kids absolutely loved the bunk room and the hot tub on cold nights. They were able to fish off the dock and caught smallmouth bass, catfish, and a yellow perch. We were able to rent a boat and explore the beautiful lake. The owner was helpful and responsive. I highly recommend this property for large families or holiday get togethers. There’s plenty of room for everyone to have a great time!

House was great! Access to the water is very steep. If we had an UTV we would have been able to go down to the water more. Rented a pontoon for the day, wonderful!
