Week in Winter Harbor
Fantastic house and hosts. We loved that we could walk to visit the harbor, go out to dinner, cycle through the national park, and enjoy every minute. Loved sitting on the back deck, enjoying the view, grilling, and relaxing. Anne and John were great hosts. We’d love to come back.

Nice stay at Winter Harbor
Wonderful, cute cottage close by the Schoodic Peninsula part of Acadia National Park. It's much quieter and relaxing here in Winter Harbor. It's a nice location to just visit close by attractions or venture farther out like we did to Bar Harbor, and then make a sightseeing trip another day in the other direction to Lubec, Maine on the border of Canada. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds were comfortable. Check-in was a breeze, and the hosts John & Anne were very accommodating. We had a very nice stay here.

Perfect location
Stayed with family in John and Anne’s cottage. Everything was just as described and check in couldn’t be easier. Perfectly located within walking distance of several restaurants and ferry and short drive to Schoodic Acadia and farmers market just across the street on Tuesday. Would definitely stay there again. Only suggestion would be to update some of the information in the book for 2024 as it seems there have been some post-Covid changes to local businesses.

Wonderful place to stay in the Acadia National Park area. John and Anne are great hosts who were alway quick to respond to any inquires. It’s near enough to enjoy and explore the Bar Harbor area while still enjoying the tranquil Winter Harbor area. House has all the amenities for a week stay. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice cottage in Winter Harbor
We very much enjoyed staying in John and Anne's cottage. It is in the heart of Winter Harbor with easy access to all the shops and a short drive away from the National Park at Schoodic and nice outlooks on Grindstone. The house is well equipped and comfortable. Everything worked (although the Wifi is a bit slow). John and Anne are welcoming hosts.

Winter Harbor Stay
Very nice, well equipped house. Located on a quiet street within walking distance of everything in Winter Harbor including restaurants, groceries, and the Winter Harbor - Bar Harbor Ferry. Very conveniently located for exploring the Schoodic Peninsula portion of Acadia NP by car or bicycle. Day trips to Bar Harbor and the Mount Desert Island portion of the park are very doable as well, but note that Bar Harbor is a good hour drive by car. We really liked the property and would definitely book it again.

A foggy, cozy, week in Winter Harbor
Very comfortable, spacious kitchen and dining area as well as living room/TV area. Very well supplied with all our dining and cleaning needs. Downstairs and upstairs bathroom with large walk in showers. I would suggest that the upstairs bathroom needs more hooks for towels and a small table for toiletries . John and Ann were very responsive both on line and by phone for any of our questions. We really enjoyed our week with you! Thanks, Margaret

Great cottage in a lovely community!
The cottage was roomy and cozy and clean. It is just moments away from the Schoodic Peninsula part of Acadia National Park. There are lovely gift shops and galleries nearby. The community is lovely and the people so very friendly. We went in the fall and enjoyed every minute of the hour drive through the gorgeous fall foliage to get to Bar Harbor and the main (but more people) part of Acadia. We enjoyed retreating to quiet Winter Harbor each night. John and Anne were gracious hosts from the beginning of the first communication to our departure.

Acadia
Property was very nice. We had a little difficulty finding the cottage as we arrive late at night and it was dark. The house number was on the house and not the cottage as we could not see the cottage as we drove up. the downstairs bathroom did have a funky smell to it. we love the fact that we could walk to everything and the restaurants were wonderful. I would highy encourage the ferry to bar harbor.

Enjoyed our stay at Winter Harbor
House was clean, beds were comfortable and kitchen had everything we needed. Disappointed that there was not a smart tv and only an electric percolator coffee pot. Winter Harbor is a quaint town with shops and restaurants. Got fresh lobsters down by the harbor at the co-op and steamed them at the house. Delicious. Bar Harbor an hour away. Went to Acadia NP several times. Note that the ferry was closed in October. Bar Harbor whale watching we saw many whales on the trip. We enjoyed our stay.

Relaxing for Family of 5
This property location was exactly as described. My family that includes three children under the age of 8 thoroughly enjoyed the laid back atmosphere of Winter Harbor, and the views experienced at Acadia on the Schoodic Peninsula. We took the ferry from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor one day and had a great time on the ferry. We realized quickly though that the views available at Acadia on Schoodic were just as spectacular as the views available in Acadia in Bar Harbor with far less crowds/congestion which was preferred for the ages of our young kids. There are more dining options in Bar Harbor, but we never had a bad meal in Winter Harbor. The outdoor area at the house was also ideal since the kids could play outside with a large yard area without fear of much (or any) traffic along Rand Ln.

Winter Harbor Heaven
My family decided to visit Maine to see where my father grew up. We’d heard stories of Bar Harbor, Boothbay, and Bath but had no idea where we wanted to stay. We stumbled on Winter Harbor through the VRBO. WH is about an hour from Bar Harbor however it is worth every minute of the drive (or the GORGEOUS ferry ride ....literally 1/2 mile from the house.) Ann and John, the owners, were incredible; Very, very sweet and Accommodating. The house was incredibly clean and was stocked with everything you could need. There was a small grocery store within walking distance and a few restaurants too. You have to try Chase’s for amazing breakfast, and Fisherman’s Galley has the BEST crab rolls, worlds best onion rings and blueberry pie!!! Say “hi” to our new friend Matthew if you stop in.There is a lobster shack across the path from the house!!! You’ve gotta try the lobster rolls! There is no shortage of lobster and there is a lobster co-op right in WH. You can’t get any fresher! Acadia National Park is Amazing and the entrance to the park is within walking distance. There are very cute shops in WH and a great little bike shop to rent bikes. We highly recommend the bikes! Finally, if you are looking for a sweet cabin filled with everything you need, then look no further. Winter Harbor is very quiet but close enough to see and do everything that makes Maine fabulous! Thank you Ann and John for sharing your lovely, perfect home! We look forward to the next time we visit and will definitely recommend your cabin to all our friends! The T. Smith Family

Winter Harbor House
Very clean and spacious place. Be aware that although both bedrooms are upstairs one of the bathrooms is downstairs. About 30 minutes to Ellsworth (the closest real town) that has grocery stores and other services, and about an hour to Acadia National Park. The house is almost across the street from a pretty good restaurant.
