- We are a NON smoking residence (in house or on porches). No smoking litter on house grounds. This keeps our home clean and enjoyable for all guests!
- We have: central A/C & heat- not needed often (3600’ elevation). We mostly use the plentiful windows, to enjoy cool, fresh mountain air. Summers are generally temperate- we are a shaded mountain property.
- We provide linens, “start of stay” paper products and many kitchen expendables. If you are a full house group for more than few days bring extra toilet paper & paper towels. BYO toiletries (shampoo etc).
- We have exterior home security monitoring & a ring doorbell.

Our bedroom set up offers optimal privacy, whether accommodating a large or extended family, or with adult children, or “friend” families with young children.

Such a relaxing retreat!

**FYI: we have new Starlink Internet for work or streaming, but we discourage gaming.
Re: cell service- We have Verizon; (best mtn service). It is stronger in certain parts of house- and now stronger consistently, w/addition of cell booster.
The cabin is located just off Hwy 107, 4 miles N of Cashiers intersection of 64 W and Hwy 107. We are 12 miles/20 min drive from Highlands. (Hwy 107 runs along the E side of beautiful Lake Glenville).
Our home is a few hundred yards from HWY 107 and the lake. We have 2 driveways- one to front, one to back of house. Both are paved, significant inclines that are easily accessed by 2WD vehicles in normal seasonal weather, but in snow/ice FWD, AWD or 4WD vehicles are optimal. Otherwise, plan to use ice melt on drives.

This beautiful, Craftsman style home, was well built, with detail and care, to embrace the setting. There are many windows and plentiful, aesthetic porch space to optimize time spent outdoors. All in excellent condition, well cared for.
We’ve preserved the charm, such as the warm pine flooring, but updated as we saw need.
New appliances include: refrigerator, sink/faucet, 5 burner gas range cooktop, wall oven/microwave, dishwasher, keurig and toaster oven, large capacity washer and dryer. Both standard coffee pot & toaster also avail. . Fairly new gas fireplace inserts. High quality, carpet through bedrooms and stairwells. Kitchen is remodeled. Lower level hard surface flooring & furnishings/fireplace facing are all new.
Things to do:
Picnic, swim or simply relax at the lake - a 5 min walk, any time of day, pop a canoe, kayak or paddle board in the water.
Nearby marina offers a variety of boating rentals!l Hang out at the creek- throw in a fishing line or splash around.
Cashiers is a 10 min drive- convenient to Ingles grocery, Cashiers Farmer’s Market, many cute shops, boutiques and dining, hardware store, business needs/shipping.
Highlands is 12 miles away- W on Hwy 64 with vistas/overlooks, hiking (Whiteside Mtn) & waterfalls all in reach.
Other areas easy to reach from our home: Gorges State Park, Sapphire Valley, Sylva, Nantahala, Lake Toxaway, Brevard, Hendersonville, Asheville, Cherokee, Cullasaja Gorge. SO many waterfalls and hiking options.
We are 1.5 hours SW of Asheville; 2.5 hours N of Atlanta. We use Asheville airport for ease- 1 hr 20 mins from house.

A perfect place for a weekend getaway!

We had a wonderful stay. The kitchen was well appointed with more than enough pots, pans and cutlery to cook a great meal. My wife loved sitting on the back porch, in the quiet to read a book. The beds were comfortable. We would absolutely love to stay there again in the future. The only downside was the Florida Gators commemorative cups…I kid…GO DAWGS! Seriously, we loved our time here.

Winter stay

The property was well equipped with everything needed. Our only complaint would be that the first floor bedroom was very cold at night with temperatures in the 30s.

Near Glenview Lake and Access to Cedar Point.

House was fine. Be prepared for lots of stairs which was not a problem for us. Wi-Fi is spotty at best. Streaming for movies is poor. No cell service at the house. Very close to Lake Glenville and access to the parking at the cedar point was a nice plus. Master bedroom was nice on the third floor. We did encounter a few issues while we were there. We fixed ourselves or worked with owner to get resolved. The house does sit on Bee tree road which turns out to be a busy road and lots of road noise.

Beautiful Spring Break.

Easy access entering the home at check in. Home is private and enjoys a view of the lake and a stream a short way down the hill. The three bedrooms are all comfortable and private. Master suite is huge! My wife and I went there with my daughter’s family which includes 2 teenagers. The home accommodated the 6 of us very comfortably. We all agreed we would return for another stay in the future.

Everything was as advertised and shown in the photos. Very easy to work with Jeff and he was quick to respond. The master bedroom and lower suite are awesome if you want some private and very roomy space. Lots of hikes and waterfalls nearby and Ingles grocery just down the road has Everything you will need if you plan to cook while you are there. The kitchen was well stocked and the appliances were great.

A Lovely Fall Retreat

This is a lovely cabin nestled in the woods. The photos on the website accurately portray the property. The access is via a very steep driveway. Gas fireplaces make it comfy and cozy and you don't have to go looking for wood. There were a few spices, oil and vinegar, salt & pepper, flower & sugar in the pantry, probably left by prior renters. The refrigerator is totally cleaned out: no mayonnaise, mustard or ketchup so you will have to provide those items. Paper towels and toilet paper and dish detergent were there but you should replace whatever you use. Beds and pillows were comfortable. No odors. No fragrances used in laundry (which was really great since I am allergic to these things). The owner is extremely responsive. Access is through a keypad on the door.

Great Getaway in a Secluded Location

The best part of the property was the creek across the street. The kids enjoyed playing there. The directions and check-in were easy. The property was clean and well maintained. Jeff was easy to communicate with and responded quickly. The only two concerns were the slow internet during the day and the steep roads to the property. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay.

Summer vacation

The house was beautifully set up. Lovely woodwork and decor. House was clean, well stocked, and helpful directions in the binder. The dining area was inviting. Felt like we were in the woods. My adult children liked the separate bedroom spaces with their own bathrooms. Living spaces were small for my group. Internet was slow and spotty. There is no air conditioning which made for a warm home in upper 70s and moist days. Being near the lake was lovely and having access to the boat club was fun. Boats to rent were nearby. Plenty of good places to hike, eat and shop.

Lake Glenville is a gem

Partner and I took 4 teenage boys (2 kids + their friends) for a few days to stay in the woods, fish, boat, walk, de-digitalize...and we had a great time. House was plenty large for us to spread out and all have some space, but cozy enough to have dinner together and cookout on the balcony. Boys had fun walking and discovering the area, including woods, pond, lake, etc...which we all loved because it did not require a screen to look at! Boating on Lake Glenville with the help of the very friendly people at Signal Ridge Marina (right down the road) was amazing- great views and seemed as if we had the lake to ourselves. Cashiers and Sapphire provided some restaurant relief and brewery visits for us when it rained. We had a great few days away and were rewarded for finding a new place that we had never heard of before. Jeff was great to work with in communicating instructions and for questions during our visit. Lake Glenville is a gem, and Jeff's property helped us fully enjoy it.

A beautiful home in the mountains

This one hit all of my three requirements: Clean, good beds, good location. Owner was very helpful and easy to deal with. My two boys loved each having their own bathroom (my oldest got the downstairs suite and it was hard to get him out of there) and all three beds were fantastic. The kitchen was a joy to cook in and the premium cabinetry made me jealous. The owner noted that it may be difficult for some going up/maneuvering the driveways. The new short driveway is the easiest, but it's steep and your car needs to be in first gear to get up. For those older folks, be aware that this home is on the side of a mountain and therefore has three levels and lots of stairs. The bottom porch had no seating, only a hammock and a bunch of cut wood pieces/tools/junk taking up more than half of the space. Those should be removed if you're going to rent the place and perhaps a couple of chairs be put out there. Also, it's a beautiful area - a small table and chairs on the top porch so we can eat outside would have been nice. You should also be aware that HughesNet, the internet provider, is iffy in the area. We had good wifi but terrible internet most of the time, and owner tried to get it fixed, but HughesNet was not cooperating. Neither Verizon nor T-Mobile had cell service anywhere in Glenville. There is a booster in the house, but it made zero difference in cell coverage. And finally, the main reason I took off one star: No A/C and a thermostat that showed it was actually cooling(!). I didn't notice there was no A/C on the listing, my bad, until we contacted the owner to find out why the A/C wouldn't come on when it was over 80 degrees in the house. It's true that A/C isn't needed much in the mountains and requires maintenance even when not used. But this is an expensive property and it never occured to me that a property in this price range wouldn't have A/C. Summary: Great place, could use a couple of minor improvements.

About the host

Host profile image
We are a family who loves this area and have for many years. We brought our children here regularly for family vacations. Our love for this area motivated us to own this property and to make it a comfortable home and getaway that we enjoy sharing with guests. Our skill sets bring you a beautiful, tastifully decorated, tranquil, relaxing, organized, well stocked and operating space to "feel as comfortable as if your're" home yet totally "like you're on vacation! Having our own home here allows us to easily enjoy a relaxing and vacation knowing the house meets all our family's needs consistently, as our grown children continue to visit with us, now bringing their spouses. It appeals to all ages during all seasons.

Why they chose this property

We have enjoyed vacations in this area of the NC mountains beginning with our honeymoon in the 80's, continuing over 30 plus years, as we raised our children and gathered with extended family who also vacation here. We always visit family members who reside nearby. We are an active family with a love of the outdoors. This area has such a great climate, scenery and wide range of activities to suit us well. As Florida residents, we spend a lot of time at the beach, or enjoying freshwater rivers, but decided it was time to get our own place in the mountains. We desired the Cashiers area because of the altitude and close proximity to Highlands, but especially due to the creek frontage and access to Lake Glenville. The many waterfalls and nearby hikes, such as Whiteside Mountain, Panthertown, Gorges State Park and Whitewater Falls were places we repeatedly return to. The home is cozy enough for two, or expansive enough for a family or several couples, (even with a few kids) to get away from it all and embrace time together amidst a beautiful and fun filled backdrop. There is something to do in every season, and the climate allows.

What makes this property unique

The house is located on Cedar Creek only a couple hundred yards from State Road 107 and Lake Glenville where we have private gated access to a Cedar Point Park with a pavilion, grill, restrooms and parking. Boating recreation is a huge draw for this location and of all kinds are welcome here, from fishing to pontoons, to kayak and canoeing. Motorboats pull tubers and paddleboarders are welcome. There is a marina which rents vessels, if that is a desire. But even a simple walk to sit and enjoy the water from the shore is a wonderful treat. Our view is to the west, so sunset picnics and views are sweet from our community area gazebo by the lake. The creek behind the house is also fun to visit and splash in with the kids.
The house is private enough to enjoy the mountains and feel "away from it all", yet is not so remote that you can't meet your immediate needs. Cashiers is a 10-15 min drive with all you need- gas station, restaurants and a full grocery with pharmacy, Ingles. There is a small local brewery and coffee shop, extensive hardware store, gift boutiques etc, as well. It is a charming area which caters to visitors in this area. Highlands is a 30 min uphill drive and has many options for services and entertainment as well. Sapphire Valley is beyond Cashiers and all of these areas are renowned for golf resorts if that is an appeal.
