We are right in the heart of Prince Edward County, it doesn't get any sweeter than this!!!
115' feet of waterfront. The Sand Dunes are your view every day. Comfortable conversation area which is open to the fully equipped kitchen. Couples only please (retired/seniors), no children! Master bedroom has1 queen bed, 2nd smaller bedroom is also 1 queen. Bathroom is 3 piece with a corner walk in shower. The Jet ski/pontoon business in the cove offers you the use of their kayaks and paddle boards for free PLUS 1 free pontoon cruise during your weeks stay....reservation required. Just return them as soon as you are finished.

There are over 50 wineries in the County so please take a tour and learn about wine making, you can buy and taste wine on the tour as well. Picton is the main spot for groceries, LCBO, boutiques, highly recommended restaurants, arts & crafts by local artisans.

The Sweet Retreat cottage is our private and personal home in the Fall to Spring so we ask that renters be responsible, respectful and tidy while in our home. The conversation area has a new paint job, and new couches (they are not pull out so therefore no sleeping allowed on the couches).
We are firm about *4* being the maximum number of people occupying the cottage at any time and "adults only please"......we are licenced with the County of Prince Edward and they set the maximum number of people so we are not allowed to go over.

Our preference for renters is matured couples, seniors, retired folks who would be respectful of our property.

Water was an issue

Donna was lovely and the view to lake was wonderful. We had hoped for usable water and shower but the well water had an overpowering smell of sulfur so it was not pleasant to use shower. We had to find alternative places to wash and bought extra water.

Absolutely spectacular view

Great rustic cottage. Very accommodating hosts. Good beach and water level for kids. Some small stones for the first 5 - 10 metres then pure sand. Bottled water for drinking and reversed plumbing in shower took just a little while to get comfortable with.

Nice

Lovely spot overlooking sand dunes. What you would expect from a rustic cottage in terms of bedrooms and furnishings. Outside areas lovely and the water is warm and sandy and shallow for swimming. This would be great for kids. Although well equipped there were a few key items missing, such as a corkscrew (in wine country!). Be aware that they are on a well system and this means the water is rusty and stinky. We were fine with it but some people might be bothered. The spot was quite windy every day. Not sure if it was during our stay or if that is normal for that spot.

Beautiful location

Cottage was very clean when we arrived. Enjoyed the lake view from the large windows in the cottage and sitting area on the deck.

Our great get away to Sandbanks

This cottage provided a beautiful get away for us. We loved having the lake only a few steps away from the deck .The view of the dunes on the opposite side of the lake from the deck was just amazing.

Wrongly listed

I’m quite unhappy with this property. The owners were very unprofessional and lied about how we left the property. The listing pictures and info were very outdated and the ‘cabin’ is unsafe for Children. The owners did not apologize for various issues that occurred - one being no hot water in the shower amongst many other inconveniences. I do not recommend this listing to other families.

Used to call Barrie home for many many years then moved to Prince Edward County. It's magic here, you feel welcome, relaxed and comfortable. A lot of people who come to visit the County end up buying here. We also own Edgewater Family Camping Resort which is 2-3 min walk up the road from our cottage. On our beach is West Lake Waterpark which is separately owned and operated. They are the people to thank for your free access to use their kayaks/paddle boards if available for the duration of your stay in the Sweet Retreat. We live in the cottage in the winter time to Spring when it becomes available to rent again. We ask our rental families to please enjoy your time in our favourite place to be.

This cottage is special and unique because you have 100% view of the World Famous Sand Dunes across the lake. We are right in the heart of Prince Edward County and that's pretty darn special.
