Cozy cabin on the beautiful Hohman Lake. Escape the chaos of life in this cozy cottage with a spacious deck and hot tub. This 1 bedroom cabin is nestled on an 80-acre private lake and is a peaceful retreat off the beaten path, yet only minutes from town. With beautiful views, great fishing, kayaking, and nature right outside your door, you are sure to unwind. You can find rock climbing, hiking, waterfalls, mountain biking, and other outdoor recreation. If that isn't your cup of tea, then you can drink wine on Southern Illinois' world famous wine trails or try your luck at the riverboat casino only 15 minutes away. Discounts are given for weekly bookings.

Peace & quiet

Beautiful place lots of relaxation good fishing ate all our meals on the deck surprised only saw 2 flies and no mosquitoes the cicadas are plentiful but don’t bite or sting good bait lol

Nice week on the lake

We enjoyed our stay at the house on Hohman lake. The house was clean and well maintained. The owners are great to work with and very responsive! The hot tub developed a leak and they were there promptly to check it out and had fixed it quickly! We were there during the eclipse and they even provided eclipse glasses. The lake is a nice lake to kayak on. This was our second stay at one of their properties on the lake and look forward to coming back again!

Great little cabin on the lake!

We had a great time at this cozy little cabin on the lake! Peaceful with excellent views of the lake from all rooms! The builders did an amazing job with this finished build out. Bright modern finishes with large windows facing the lake makes it feel larger than it actually is. We seen a crane and some geese swimming and feeding on the water. The only thing I could see for improvement would be a smart tv in the cabin for netflix and streaming aps. There is an antenna that picks up a few channels and lots of dvds to watch. We will definitely stay there again!

Weekend getaway

This property was the perfect spot to disconnect and get some much needed relaxation. The cabin was very cozy and clean. I would highly recommend this cabin for others looking to have a relaxing weekend while also still be close to the great wineries in the area.

41st Wedding Anniversary

The cabin was exactly as advertised. The addition of a dishwasher would be a definite plus. We have a problem with "hand washed" dishes that someone else has "washed" !! We had originally planned on driving our classic MG automobile down for the weekend. The weather changed our mind on that. Man, am I glad we chose to leave it at home!! The road leading to the cabin is REALLY in need of some maintenance!! With the heavy rains that preceded our arrival the road was a muddy pot holed mess!! Fortunately we were driving our 4X4 GMC and not the MG. Overall, our trip was enjoyable and we even got to meet the neighborhood Patrol Dog.

Disappointed

We booked this place based on the pictures and reviews. Upon walking into this prefab home, not a cabin, we realized that the photos on the vrbo site, are presented from a wide angle lense, not accurately depicting the true space. We did not appreciate the 1/4 mile rutted dirt road leading to the cabin. The unit lacks a dishwasher and garbage disposal. Requiring trash removal upon departure to a dumpster a quarter of a mile from the unit, is unsat. The continuous cycling on of the hot tub, all hours of the night, made it difficult to sleep.

Fall getaway

The cabin was immaculate and beautifully decorated. We had great fall weather for our visit so we were able to enjoy the porch and dock. Too chilly to fish but hopefully next visit we can drop a line in the water. Hot tub was clean and relaxing. Also enjoyed the neighborhood dog, we named him Fred.

The owners are really great to deal with. You have everything you need for a wonderful vacation. The views are awesome, and the fishing is good too. Highly recommend this place or any place these owners have on this wonderful lake.

A fun stay in the Shawnee National Forest Area.

It was a good stay and liked the area. However, we didn’t appreciate the neighborhood dog visiting every morning and night. He would bark and yelp if someone didn’t feed him.

Great stay for my solo retreat!

The cabin was perfect for my solo retreat. It was wonderful to get away and reconnect with nature in such a peaceful & serene setting. I especially appreciated having the hot tub and kayak to make it extra special. Can’t wait to come back!

Relaxing view

Excellent view and right on lake. Was only there for 2 nights and rainy so didn't have time to kayak or enjoy the campfire. Everything was great and would definitely return. It was very relaxing.

Romantic Anniversary Getaway? Yes, please.

We booked the cabin for our 24th anniversary and couldn't have picked a better spot. Quiet, remote, beautiful view, and the hot tub was perfect! We even had a card, balloon, and chocolates waiting for us at check-in. The cabin is exactly how it appears in the pictures when booking. Super Clean! The cabin is located well off the beaten path, so be prepared to disconnect from society.

Great view and clean space.

The property would have been everything I expected, comfy, clean, scenic, etc. However, the floor under the entire cabin slants downward toward the lake.. after a few days, it became annoying and kind of spoiled the overall experience.

Slice of heaven!

My husband and I had a wonderful time here for our anniversary. Relaxing on the deck with only the sounds of nature was truly refreshing! A great location for those looking to hike in the Shawnee National Forest or explore Paducah, KY!

Perfect Getaway

This is the most relaxing and nice little cabin on the lake. So quite and relaxing. Not far from town if you want to shop. Will definitely be going back in the fall. The owners are terrific to work with.

Just what we needed!

From the time of booking through checkout, the owners were awesome and communicative. We even got a phone call the day before arrival due to the past snow/rain. The neighborhood drive was quite interesting! Thank goodness we had an SUV. Not the fault of owners, but just an FYI if you end up going during a wet spell. The cabin itself was amazing and CLEAN! Pictures online matched in-person. Kitchen was stocked; cooking supplies, spices, condiments. Plenty of clean towels and beach towels. Full size laundry, even though we didn't use it. Bed was comfy and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of extra pillows! Made it very cozy! I chose this cabin bc of all the windows that open up to the lake. It was beautiful. The hot tub was positively perfect for the very cold weather we had! What was super above and beyond, was I contacted the owners prior to arrival to ask if they'd be willing to have champagne and other goodies available upon arrival. They did! I'm thankful for their gesture to accommodate me! We would stay at any of the properties these owners offer, they were that great. Thanks, again!

This place is truly amazing. So beautiful, the lake view was my favorite and the hot tub!

The owners are amazing they called to let us know there was going to be bad weather yesterday. Even messaged to check on us last night. The house is beautiful so clean so organized. It has everything down to s’mores!! If you think of it. It has it. The view from the back porch is so beautiful the hot tub is so big and amazing. The whole stay was great. We are all the way from Ga and we will definitely be back. I give this place a 10 star!! It’s definitely a home away from home ❤️
