Beautiful period home in lush landscape close to Caragh Lake

Glendalough House is a well-fitted out house. The highlights include the location near the lake (five minute walk), the large living room, with a well-maintained grand piano, the spacious bedrooms and the several nooks and crannies where you can escape the hustle and bustle of your group to read. Minor drawbacks include: the kitchen is on the small side and and the electrics need maintenance (we suffered from trip switches tripping several times).

Fun by the lake

This was a great family base in a glorious part of Kerry, offering easy access to Caragh Lake and other attractions. The house is full of character with lots of space. Don’t expect 21st century glitz, but enjoy the charm of another era. The owner and manager could not have been nicer or more helpful.

Beautiful location and accommodation

Had the most fantastic stay in this 200 year old hunting lodge. Accommodation was excellent. Beds very comfortable and house was beautifully presented. Kids loved exploring the very large gardens and path that leads down to the lake. Was 12 of us altogether and house was large enough to accommodate us all. Ideal location for those wanting to explore Kerry. Would definitely recommend and would hope to return again some day,

Unique Historical Special

In the best summer Ireland has had but we spent the worst week here. The lashing rain did not matter. 9 of us stayed in this gem. location is close to many of Kerry's hot spots. This house is lovingly maintained. This is maintained out of love for the house and I understand why. The Garden is awesome, like a Kerry jungle. The views of the lake and the mountains are simply superb. It takes two - three minutes to walk to the lake which has super lake shore walks. The rooms are all very large with huge mirrors. The house is 200 years old but so much charm. The little reading room overlooking court yard I loved. The main bathroom is special ( bring bath bombs ). The description says 3 full bathrooms which is very true and all are lovely with huge baths but it leaves out that one bedroom has a WC attached and another has a shower room. Shirley was perfect at checkin and enjoyed finding this gem's surprises.

Lovely week in the Kingdom

My family & I had a wonderful week in Glendalough Hse. It was a gr8 location for walking, cycling & drives. We had excellent communications with Ted (the owner) before arriving & Bernie (the housekeeper) was on hand for any small problems we had. We would like to have had ensuite bathrooms but not a problem sharing. The only downside was that I lost my Emerald & Diamond ring. Bernie gave a thorough search to the house when we had left but to no avail! Ted very generously allowed us to stay a few extra days. We really appreciated this. Thank you Ted. We would love to return some time in the future.

I grew up in the same county and as a child was a frequent visitor to Caragh Lake. There as children we fished and swam in the lake just in from of the house we now own. It’s nice to be back , slightly older and in a position to enjoy the home , gardens and the wonderful natural assets outside our door on the Ring of Kerry and Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way.

Why they chose this property

Experience the ambience of a nineteenth centurary home modernized to today’s comforts and gardens with 200 year old trees and gardens.
