Mountainside Loft - Keene, NY, Adirondack High Peaks!

Welcome to Mountainside Loft. Located on a private road elevated above the valley, guests will enjoy a charming space to recuperate in after a busy day of playing in the mountains.
Hikers and outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the close proximity to local activities in the High Peaks Region.
Mountainside Loft has an open concept floor plan with plenty of natural light and windows to bring the Adirondacks right to you!
-The kitchen has a lot of counter space and everything you need to cook your favorite meals.
-The living room has a wall mount T.V. with a Roku for streaming your favorite shows.
-The loft has a wood burning stove for the colder months with baseboard electric heat in the bedrooms. During the summer months an AC unit is provided along with fans to stay cool.
-Main bedroom is located off of the main space and offers a queen size bed, dresser, and a rocking chair.
-Second bedroom is attached to the main bedroom with a sliding door and has a full-size bed with a dresser.
Guests will have access to a deck with a grill and outdoor firepit.

Guests are required to have 4WD or AWD vehicles with good tread on tires due to 2 steep inclines! No exceptions allowed!

Restorative winter retreat

This cozy retreat has it all. A kind and helpful property owner. A beautiful site. Close to the best that nature can provide. We skied and enjoyed winter outside and then retreated to the warm and inviting cabin space. The best.

Perfect Spot for a Cozy ADKs Getaway

My family and I had a wonderful time staying at Random Scoots. Shaye was extremely responsive when we had to reschedule our trip twice (very thankful we didn't end up canceling!), and she and Kevin went out of their way to drive us up the hill to the cabin when our car couldn't make it in the fresh snow when we first arrived. The cabin was immaculately clean, it's conveniently located near restaurants and shops in Keene, and it is close to Whiteface, Mt Van Hoevenberg, Lake Placid and plenty of places to hike. The cabin is cozy and spacious, and the kitchen has every utensil you could possibly need to cook and bake. We truly enjoyed our long weekend in the cabin as much as outside in the surrounding area, and we hope to be back soon!

Cozy cabin near Lake Placid

The Random Scoots cabin had everything we needed for a comfortable long weekend stay. The host was quick to reply to my questions. The road leading to the cabin was well maintained and very quiet. Despite the sub zero temperatures during our stay, we were nice and warm inside. Comfortable beds and a great layout for families made for a memorable trip. We would love to stay here again!

A wonderful Christmas in this cozy cabin

We decided to go away for Christmas for the first time ever, wanting the holiday to be just with my husband and I and our three kids and dog. We traveled up a steep hill to get to the cabin, which sits nearby to two other homes, but with lots of woods around on beautiful grounds. The cabin itself is open and roomy, but also cozy and very clean. Anything you could need, from plates and pans to crayons and coloring books to extra blankets and dog dishes, was there. Everything there seems well thought out. There was plenty of space for our whole family and we enjoyed our time in the cabin very much. The location is also great. We went for a couple of really nice hikes. We lucked out with weather. There was snow on the ground and everything looked so, so pretty! We have been to that general area lots of times over the years, but we are usually campers, occasionally soending a night or two at a motel in Lake Placid. This was a different sort of trip for us and a really great one, a Christmas we will always remember. None of us wanted to leave at the end of our stay.

Travel for a family member’s funeral

Peaceful, beautiful cabin. Very warm and comfortable, with wonderful view of the mountain. Would love to come back and stay longer for a happy trip, but it was exactly what we needed at this time. Hosts were exceptional! Thank you

Great Time

This property is kept in excellent condition. A lot of thought has gone into what is at hand, as if you the renter were a guest or family member. Really good photographs on the walls. Very comfortable and relaxing. The washer and dryer are first rate and a big plus. Only two recommendations: 1) there is a step down from the living room to the area where the main bedrooms are located. It would be helpful if there were a warning about that as you come in for the first time. I didn't see it clearly and nearly took a tumble. 2) there is a problem with lighting the stove burners. The two on the right didn't function well. Neither of these amount to much compared to the location, views, and quality of property and upkeep. Recommended highly.

Great stay at this cozy cabin! Provided everything we were looking for; relaxation tucked away in the woods, but accessible to necessities and attractions. Natural and man made. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

Excellent experience

The property was exactly as stated. Very clean and easy to use. A great base of operations to take side trips to the Adirondack areas. Kudos for the environmental awareness in terms of recycling and composting! Added complements for the almost complete works of Pat McManus in the library!!! All in all a great experience

A slice of Random Scoots heaven!

Close to trails, well stocked clean and well taken care of. Drive up was tricky in our van, but we were successful navigating the road up to random scoots. It was quiet, views were beautiful. And amenities were A1! Photos on their website were a perfect representation of what we received!

High peaks hideaway

Keene is a beautiful place and Random Scoots was a perfect place. It is by far the cleanest rental we have experienced after many years of renting. The property is in a perfect location with a lovely yard and great views.. it is quiet and private. It was somewhat small for 7 people but doable. If the large porch was screened in and had a good sized table, it would be perfect!

Great Adirondack Experience

The cabin was wonderful! We stayed with our 3 sons, ages 3-10, and it was cozy and comfortable. Everything worked well and the property is peaceful. A great getaway cabin in the mountains, just a 3 minute drive up a hill from town.

A Perfect Retreat

My first impression upon arriving at this home was how spotlessly clean and well kept it was, inside and out. It is just perfect, there is everything you need , the owners have thought of every detail and amenity. It is in a tranquil setting in the woods with a stunning view of the mountains. The inside was spacious for the 2 of us , the beds are so comfortable, and the bathroom looks newly renovated . There is a wonderful enclosed porch , and lots of outside furniture for relaxing. The owner, Shaye , is so pleasant . The location is convenient to many ski areas, hiking trails, and attractions. I can't wait to return.

Perfect place!

This is probably the easiest 5 star review I’ve ever left. This place is absolutely perfect. If we didn’t live 13 hours away, we’d probably be here once every season. The cabin is spotlessly clean and well appointed. Nice library of books on things to do the ADK and surrounding area. Our favorite part was having a nightly fire in the outdoor fire pit, which has beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and you can hear the Ausable River off in the distance. So peaceful and tranquil. It was tough to leave. But we’ll be back one day! Thanks for a great stay!

Clean cozy cabin expertly tucked away

Cabin is great! It has everything you would want in a cabin and our pups settled in right away. One unfortunate aspect of the location is that the cabin is on a private road that is not safe to walk pups on. Bring your 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive because you are going to need it 🙂

Girls hiking weekend

Lovely cabin and view

We enjoyed staying at this cabin, which was very conveniently located but still quiet and rustic. Property is located among other vacation cabins and homes with some woods between them. Cabin itself very clean and comfortable.

Cozy Little Cabin

This is the perfect little cabin close to several trailheads. We hiked Big Crow, Owl's Head, and Baxter and this was the perfect location in between them all! Very clean and comfortable. The mountain views are beautiful. The cabin had everything we needed. Thank you!

Random Scoots

House and Hosts are superb. Great location to explore the High Peaks region. Keep in mind that the road to the cabin is steep and there is a neighboring house very close to the cabin. Overall cozy and relaxing but not a private setting.
