It was a very quaint and quiet place to stay. I wish it was a little cleaner. I found a pair of dirty underwear in my bedroom in the garbage. There is mouse poop under the sink. I also wish there was a bit more to do or use like sporting stuff/games or paddles for the canoe. The hillbilly golf game was broken. Outside of that it was really great family time and very remote. Thanks for communicating with me when needed.
Nice cabin. Owner is very responsive and always nice. Kitchen well supplied. Beds are fine. Internet access is excellent. Phone service was sometimes poor with Verizon. Parking is difficult with boat trailer, but we managed.
Our family really enjoyed our stay! We were worried about being able to swim at the dock since we had several kids but it was no problem at all, the kids swam the entire time. Easy access to put in and take out our kayaks as well. We fished every day/night and caught fish the entire time. The owners were easy and quick to answer when I had questions. This property is beautiful and a great place to get away from it all!
We enjoyed the beautiful views along with fishing off the pier which gave us lots of needed relaxation. Location was excellent, but inside and outside the cabin needed some cleanup. If you enjoy rustic, it’s the place for you and yours.
The property was great for what we wanted it for…a quiet place to get away for a few days. We enjoyed the wildlife on the lake. Our favorite part was the screened porch overlooking the lake. Excellent place to just get away and relax.
Nice rustic cabin with all necessities for a old men fishing trip. Cooked our own food and fished everyday. Water levwl was down 2 ft so required belly flop from boats to dock. Firewood and firepit were used a few evenungs. Read the "rules" on fridge upon arrival to avoid lack of hot water etc.. would like to return in future.
Rental was nice, plenty of room. Had everything we needed. Lots of room for parking trailers. Water level was low, no electric at the dock. It is pretty remote so take everything you need. It’s about a 40 minute drive to town.
The property is surrounded by a wildlife management area. We saw lots of water fowl, including loons, geese, cranes, egrets and an eagle to name a few. Songbirds are plentiful also. The screened porch area was an ideal viewing spot. Bring binoculars! The fireplace made for cozy evenings while playing cards/games. Florence was 30 minutes away and has everything you could need (Walmart, restaurants etc). We visited Shiloh National Battlefield which was about 40 minutes away in Tennessee. Worth the trip!
The satellite tv and Wi-Fi worked very well. Plenty of space to sleep and spread out. There is an outdoor fire pit unfortunately we did not make time to use it.
It is a rustic cabin with some needed TLC but if you go in knowing this you can overlook the minor issues and enjoy this great location.
Had a great stay here. The cabin was clean and comfortable on a pleasant wooded lot on the lake. I chatted with Alan, the owner, and he was very friendly and wanted to be sure everything was good at the cabin. I really enjoyed my stay here, and I will be thinking about coming back for another visit in the future.
Each year we do a family vacation at a lake house. I choose this one and I’m so glad I did. The owners are too kind. Easy to communicate with, absolutely stunning lake, Fish bite regular, we had family portraits taken while there. Pretty much all you need is there. We like to pay it forward so we always leave anything we don’t need there for the next ones. I highly recommend this property. If I had to say what to improve, hmmmm, there’s really nothing I’d want different than the way it is... —— Happy Family of 13
The cabin was as advertised, and possibly even better than advertised. Very clean, fun place to hang out. Everyone enjoyed fishing off of the peer, and the neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. Great screened-in back porch with ceiling fans to keep the porch cool. We’ll definitely rent this cabin again!
We loved our trip! The cabin is adorable. Takes one back to a simpler place and time. The way the times gone by have been preserved was truly a pleasure! And the fishing in the Waterloo area is as good as it gets!
The cabin was perfect, we were right on the water and the cabin was very nice with an awesome screened in porch, we cooked pretty much every night but we did make a 30min drive to Florence and the drive goes by quickly while enjoying the scenery! Alan was a great host and had everything ready for us, can’t wait for the next tournament and we will be booking again!
Thanks
Kyle
