Cottage very nicely decorated and completely equipped with your every need and whim--even Q-tips and the razor you forgot!, and also including ample nice linens & towels, dining/kitchenware & appliances: 2 frigs, stove/oven, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, blender, mixer & iron. Kitchen/ dining area, bath with shower, one bedroom loft with high quality quilted queen-size bed, living room with fireplace and leather couch which is a single bed; and a river deck with a 4-person Hot Tub & slate outdoor patio with lounge & dining furniture and two grills: Weber propane grill and a charcoal grill. And a new Fire pit at the top of the cliff surrounded by the river year-round!
Includes oil heat, firewood for fireplace, electricity, trash & snow removal & unlimited in/out-state telephone service with wireless high speed cable--bring your laptop! Cable TV with HBO, VCR & DVD and indoor/outdoor cd/radio sound system. Music and movies provided. Some cell phones work lol but there's a house phone too!

SO Lovely!

The place was perfect for a weekend getaway, only 25 minutes from Mount Snow! Hot tub after the slopes was so convenient and relaxing. Getting to watch VHS, DVDs, listen to CDs, etc. created such a nostalgic experience (Roku TV also available). Make s’mores around a campfire outside while you listen to the beautiful stream run by below. Such a beautiful location that’s within 10-20 minutes from everything you might need (grocery stores, great restaurants, shopping, etc.)

Beautiful cottage in Vermont

I stayed with my daughter for a few days of relaxation. It's winter; we did not use all of the amenities that our charming host provided. But we did enjoy our stay in this very cosy place. Thank you to Liz.

The property was a slice of heaven on earth. Spent a week in an absolutely amazing property! We will definitely return. Hostess was accommodating and super friendly. The surrounding towns had everything we were looking for. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!

Relaxing escape

I had a wonderful stay here! I was looking for a quiet escape with my dog from the hustle of NY, and this was just perfect for us. The place was cozy and comfortable. My favorite was sitting in the hot tub overlooking the clear river. Simply peaceful. There was a maintenance issue, but the owner was very communicative and more than accommodating. I already booked a return trip for the spring.

Quiet, peaceful, and relaxing.

Our stay here was what my girlfriend and I needed to get away. From sitting back and watching the stars in the night sky, to relaxing during the day with the sound of the river in the background was very peaceful. Just being in nature was great but the cottage was well kept and truly felt like a home. The hot tub is a great way to decompress after the adventures the day had brought. Personally I did also enjoy having the music system connect via Bluetooth, it definitely added some more fun in the mix. Anything that was needed was within driving distance. I very much enjoyed the kitchen being well equipped as it was, it was nice to cook our own meals. There wasn’t anything we felt was missing during our stay here. There is enough towels, blankets, pots and pans to make sure you don’t miss out on anything. Liz really created a recipe for comfort in the woods here. I am very curious how beautiful the scenery looks when snow hits the ground. Thank you Liz for sharing this gem with us!

Lovely Vermont retreat

Overall, we enjoyed our time at the rock river cottage. We felt welcome walking in to the cottage lit by twinkle lights and music playing. The outdoor spaces were beautiful and peaceful (better than pictured). In particular, we loved the hot tub, private beach, and Bluetooth sound system (indoor and out on the deck). The cabin is a nice retreat from busy everyday life. It’s a bit rustic, with every space put to use, and harkens back to a simpler time (VHS!). Well stocked with necessities, trinkets, and tokens — so not your minimalist aesthetic — it felt like a time capsule. We appreciated that our host didn’t nickel and dime us (thanks for the campfire wood!). We loved the town of Brattleboro. A particular highlight was Ball State park hike to Hamilton falls with a truly resplendent swimming hole. Very special panoramic views. We second the macaroni and cheese rec from Vermont country deli. We also loved the oyster bar in town.

What an interesting experience…. The weirdness started when the host Liz called me days before the trip and told me I should kick out anyone swimming in the river (before proceeding to rant to me her whole life story over half an hour). We get to the property and immediately learn that this is in fact a public swim area and all the neighbors (and their families) use it daily. It was fine, everyone was friendly and we had no issues. But the property was definitely falsely advertised and all the neighbors we met had plenty to say about our crazy VRBO host. The cabin itself had itself had a few issues. The water is contaminated with by product from the septic system and smells undeniably like eggs. The kitchen faucets, shower, outdoor hose, all smelled. We could not use the hot tub due to the smell and general filthiness. The towels and bed sheets had not been replaced decades. The cabin was dusty and cluttered with items everywhere. The exterior of the cabin was in disrepair. The pictures in the property page are from long ago. The flower beds by the patio are all just ugly weeds now, the stone bench is covered with moss and bugs. To top it off, the host has been harassing me over text a week after the trip. I didn't even bother her... now she's accusing me of stealing an item I've never heard of, as if I would take any of the junk from the cabin with me. Using aggressive language and calling me a gay liberal (??). She has screws loose. Stay away. Stay away, seriously.

Sweet Serene Cottage

Had a lovely time in the cottage. It was so peaceful with the view and sounds of the river running through the back yard. If you are looking for a quaint, peaceful place to stay, I would definitely recommend.

Cute little cottage!

We absolutely loved our stay! Liz was an incredible host and great communicator. The cottage was so sweet and fun with directions and notes around to make your stay is easy as possible. Literally any question we could have was covered. The setting was perfectly secluded but you're still close to town. I would absolutely stay again!

Moldy, cluttered, smelly, noisy - DON'T GO

Walked in to a musty and very clutterd little cabin, and only 2 windows can open. Dust on all the clutter, jaccuzzi is leaning toward the cliff on a rotten deck with dangerous rusty nails sticking out of the railing. Logging trucks and high traffic can be heard from the nearby road over the roaring sound of the river. Power outlet blew out my phone charger. I left a day early to breathe clean air. My dog sniffed the blanket on the bed and wouldn't go near it. It was not relaxing at all. I will never go back. A roadside motel is much nicer than this rotten place. I requested a partial refund and was told she doesn't refund for fireplace smell. It was NOT fireplace smell, it was mold and dust and who knows what else. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Awesome cabin

Stayed 4 days and loved every minute. River in front was spectacular, even had a small beach area with chairs. Foliage was just perfect around this time of the year. Ate the best apple pie at Sutton farm and ate the best mac and cheese at vermont Deli. Must try them. Liz was a great host, thank you so much and cant wait to be back.

Beautiful location, relaxing stay

Cozy cabin that comfortably accommodated 2 adults and 2 dogs. We had everything we needed. Deck view is gorgeous and the river beach is fantastic, we hope to return in warm weather. Host offered a number of excellent suggestions for dining and activities. We all had a lovely stay.

Misinterpreted (no privacy and dirty)

We only stayed for 4 hrs,i had a hard time breathing (because of moldly smell and dust). The host said the property was private, she didnt tell us there was an access rd 10 feet from the front door,we must of seen 30 men in less then 4 hours. I spoke to the host and expressed my disappointment and she hung up on me. Dont waste your time booking with vrbo,this is the second time we've been scammed!

A nice relaxing reset

We enjoyed our stay at Liz’s cabin. She had everything we needed and guided us to the best spots for excellent food. The cabin is definitely rustic, but an incredible location with the best spot on the river! I wish we were able to take a dip in the swimming hole because it was perfect!
