About this property

Beachfront on Primehook Beach, 25min to Rehobeth; best of both!

Beachfront Bliss is ON THE BEACH; steps from your door are the gentle waters of the Delaware Bay. Experience spectacular sunrise and sunsets over water on both sides - - the Delaware Bay and the Broadkill River/tidal wetlands of the Prime Hook National Wildlife Preserve.

Enjoy the private, unique, remote beach. Build a bonfire on the beach at night and catch the occasional twinkle of a light from the barely visible New Jersey beach towns.
But most of all PrimeHook is natural beauty at its best: listen to the waves, enjoy the birds, see the occasional dolphins herding their catch, flip a few horseshoe crabs, and see the STARS!

Please note: We cannot accommodate party more than 8 people due to septic limitations.

We provide wireless high speed internet service and have televisions in each bedroom. The kitchen is fully equipped including a propane grill. We have a washer and dryer.

The home is ~8miles ‘as the gull flies’ from Cape Henlopen where the Atlantic begins. Rehoboth Beach is about a 20 mile drive, or consider avoiding the weekend traffic: bike into Rehobeth from Lewes through the State Park. We usually take the back way (Nassau Road/New Road) into the charming town of Lewes (stroll the oldest town in Delaware, the 2nd street action, Striper Bites for great fish, Irish Eyes for a harbor-front scene on the water). On their way to get supplies at the Food Lion, craft beer lovers will probably want to see where Dogfishhead beer is created and stop for a taste at their brewery in Milton, though I prefer nearby Dewey Beer’s brewery.

We supply beach umbrellas, beach chairs, shovels, 2 seat kayak.
Please bring your own linens and towels. We provide the blankets.

Beautiful home and exceptional views

We had a fabulous stay at this large and beautiful home. The owner was very accommodating and friendly. The beds were extremely comfortable and the home had most of the amenities needed for a good time. The only complaints we had was the unstable wood planks you had to walk on to get to the inside of the property and the beach which made it a bit challenging for my wife's mother. The biting green head flies are EVERYWHERE but we expected that since we were right on the bay with a marsh behind the home but for some that are not as familiar with them, this is a problem that only mother nature is responsible for. All stores are only about 15 to 20 minutes away (Miltonian Pizzeria and Restaurant is highly recommended) and I spent a great deal going back and forth to Dan's Tackle Box (fishing & bait store) since I fished all day and night and caught so many dogfish sharks, croakers and even an occasional horseshoe crab. Walking along the water at low tide with my granddaughters allowed me to show them blue claw crabs, jellyfish, spider crabs and a million hermit crabs and a ton of ghost crabs that dig holes all over the beach. Taking long walks at sunset (covered up due to biting flies) and meeting so many friendly people was a delight and sitting on the street side and seeing all the birds throughout the day was another enjoyable experience. We enjoyed our stay so much and the only sad part is that we are not there today to enjoy it further.

Always amazing!

We love everything about this property. The property managers are awesome and quick to respond to any issue. Our 3 boys and their 2 friends had so much fun paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing for sharks and making bonfires. It’s nice to be secluded but also just a short drive to Rehoboth and Bethany. We will be back!!

Water views from almost every room

Where do I start? What a beautiful, thought out home. Everything we needed was there-really well stocked kitchen-slow cooker, mixer, mixing bowls, toaster, coffee maker AND Keurig, tons of cookware. New gas grill. Two really large en suite bedrooms upstairs . Many decks.Great water views from almost every room.Helpful tags throughout house (ex. How to work shower, which stove burner runs hot, etc) you can tell the owner cares about their guests needs. They even left us a bottle of wine. We really enjoyed our week on Prime Hook Beach.

Good but not great

First the good: owner is excellent. Very responsive and accommodating. Location, location, location! Literally steps to the sand. We were able to let our young children play on the beach while we ran to the house and we could see them the whole time. Can’t beat the location. Finally, house is big. Lots of rooms. Big rooms. Lots of space and well stocked. Now the bad: The “beach” is NOT similar to the actual ocean beaches. Yes, there is sand. But there is also LOtS of seaweed and dead horseshoe crabs, blue crabs, and other stuff. The water is very shallow for a few hinder feet. And very warm. The worst part was the bugs and flys. I know the flys are a problem this year at most beaches. But the mosquitoes and bugs made it unbearable to even go outside at dusk or nighttime. Obviously this is beyond the control of the owner. And just a product of the location (marsh area on other side of street). We spent $100 on different big repellant products. To no avail. The house is also in a very quiet and secluded area, which was nice. No traffic. No noise. But the lack of a “beach breeze” made it much different. Not bad. Just different.

So nice we booked it twice.

This is the second time we rented this property. It is actually as described. The kitchen is more than well equipped. Two bedrooms upstairs and two defined living areas suited our family. The weather was beautiful and the beach could not be closer. We thoroughly enjoyed the off the grid experience. We also rented this property last year during Covid. In fact we loved Prime Hook so much we bought land here to hopefully build our own house some day soon. This place and also this lovely laid back home are real treasures.

Hidden gem

What a relaxing, wonderful stay. The house was great, the beach was beautiful - it surpassed our high expectations. The owner had so many things for us to make our stay ideal - kayak, paddle board, chairs, umbrellas, and firewood for outside; puzzles, games, Keurig pods/coffee maker, laundry detergent, and an ice maker for inside. They even gave us a bottle of wine and other goody bag items to get us started. It was a perfect week.

Beautiful Private Beach Stay

Incredible experience at Prime Hook. After taking the long trek to OBX from Baltimore for years, we found this little gem only a few hours from home. Huge difference with two tiny people. The house was very clean and well equipped. Many sitting areas from the front room, top deck and back deck for sunrises, sunsets and hang out space. Beds were very comfortable and behind every door was another bedroom. 25 yard walk to a private beach with awesome sandbar about 50 yards out at low tide. We went to Dogfish head brewery about 15-20 minute drive for an afternoon trip and Rehoboth day trip was about 20-25 minutes away. Enjoyed our stay very much!

Great Times

If you like the roller coasters, crowds, and the congestion that comes with an urban atmosphere then this rental is definately not for you; even though they are all easily accessible via a 10-20 mile drive. This house is beautifully equipped with just about everything that you will need during your stay and offers a great atmosphere to get away and spend some quality time with friends and family. We enjoyed riding into Lewes & Rehoboth in the afternoon for some quality beach time, swimming in the ocean and for dining out. The bay is however great for rafts and the sea kayak. Over all we enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend this to others looking for a week of R&R>

❤️❤️😊🎣

We had an amazing time at Beach Front Bliss with our 3 boys and their 2 friends. Fishing, bonfires and s’mores on the beach, being able to just leave your tent up on the beach for the next day( if no storms!) was really great. The house is spacious and just right for the area. Still within a 30-45 minute drive of lots of stuff (fun dinner at Dogfish Brewery!) but you get to come back to your own beach. We will be back!!

Relax with nature

My family had to make a last minute change to our vacation plans because my son broke his foot. Our orignal reservations were centered around walking (boardwalks, amusement rides, water parks, etc.) and this wasn't going to be ideal. We cancelled those reservations and found this beachfront bay property that seemed too good to be true. Well, nothing could be further from the truth. This place is beautiful and has relaxing views from every deck and window. In the morning, we woke to the sunrise over the beach of the bay. In the evening, we watched the sunset over the Prime Hook marsh. The private beach was amazing and literally just steps away from the front door/deck. As true with private beaches, understand they are not cleaned/raked. It's nature at its purest. You are also able to have fires on the beach at night which we did twice and this was amazing. We brought our own wood. After our morning walk on the beach with my non-injured son, we enjoyed sitting on the deck that faces the marsh and simply listening and watching the birds. Be sure to bring your own linens. I brought sheets, pillowcases, beach towels, and bathroom towels. I did not think to bring handtowels and kitchen towels, so we just ended up using paper towels. The coffee pot is a Keurig so bring some pods and creamer if you love coffee. I also brought laundry pods and was glad I did. Easy to pack and use. There is a grocery store about 15 mins away and many fruit stands on your way to beachfront bliss. The owner's pictures and description are on point and there was excellent communication. We love this place so much, we plan to visit again.

Wonderful time with Siblings

The pictures accurately depict this home. It was very comfortable for the six of us both inside and out. It was a wonderful location between bodies of water. Horseshoe crab mating season was an interesting surprise. The house was located close enough to the ocean beaches that a short drive could get you to any number of fine beaches with a little clearer water. All in all a pleasant and clean vacation spot.

We discovered Prime Hook Beach 19 years ago when our dear friends married on the beach. After years of saving, searching, and waiting, we found the perfect lovely home five years ago; the first owner lived here until she was 92yo. We rebuilt decks, gently updated the 65yo home on the main floor which still has three small cottage bedrooms; and have done little to the two master suites tastefully added to the second floor in 1991. We mainly just rent ithe home when we are not available to come ourselves.

Why they chose this property

Location, location, location. However it will probably be too quiet if you seek to dwell 24/7 in the loud and lively, teaming humanity, beach scene. Nice to be close enough to visit that but come back to something completely different.

What makes this property unique

Hard to do justice through pictures to how beautiful the morning sunrises and evening sunsets are...Stars on the deck at night...Ospreys' nesting...Even a storm approaching across the water from New Jersey.

a blurb I stole: Primehook Beach is not a well known beach, but thats exactly why most who discover it like it so much. Its a beautiful, private, tranquil, sandy beach that offers swimming, surf fishing, camp fires, horseshoe crabs, and the occasional bug :) The beach fronts the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge, which was established in 1963 to preserve the coastal wetlands as a wintering and breeding habitat for migratory waterfowl.
