A Month in the Garden

We enjoyed our month in the garden that is Gulf Pines, with its lagoons, plantings, and wildlife. Pool was convenient and NICE and warm, we had the beach almost to ourselves some days. Owner was very responsive to queries and concerns. Spiral staircase was a challenge to navigate with luggage and vintage knees. Kitchen was bright and beautiful.

Sanibel is a wonderful island even after Hurricane Ian

We enjoyed a month at Gulf Pines. It is a quiet, charming part of Sanibel between the Gulf of Mexico and SanCap Rd. The description in Vrbo of short distances etc is accurate. The people living here are very friendly and open. The house is well equipped from the two car garage with bicycles and everything the owners use themselves when here, to the kitchen with the expected kitchen items ie pots, pans, plates, cups, glasses etc, but also an unexpected drawer with pens, markers, tape, batteries should you need it. The appliances are all new. We enjoyed eating at Timbers, Doc Ford’s, Rosalita’s Cantina, Cielo, Traders, Bleu Rendezvous and others. Walking on the beach is just wonderful, looking for shells and watching the great variety of birds including pelicans diving into the Gulf catching fish, ospreys flying majestically high in the air, plovers, terns and the small sanderlings running back up and down the water’s edge. Ding Darling is a must visit. All in all a fantastic month.

Paradise Found

Everything about our stay at this lovely home was perfect. The location was ideal. Just a short 5 min. walk to beautiful beach for shelling, walking, relaxing and watching the sunset! Home comes equipped with all the amenities you’ll need to enhance your trip. Neighbors are very welcoming and friendly. Also, owner was extremely easy to communicate with. I highly recommend.

Excellent stay

We found Denise’s house to be exactly as described, and more comfortable than we anticipated based on the pictures. All of the living room furniture was inviting , no fighting for the one good seat! House was sparkling clean when we arrived. Beds were good, water pressure was strong, ac and heat (yes, we needed it in a cold Florida January) worked well. The kitchen was well equipped, and easy to work in, no problem with light for us. Dated, but absolutely functional. TV system a little finicky but we figured it out. We pretty much fell in love with the area, preferring it to central Sanibel. It is quite natural, and very low key, near a very quiet and absolutely beautiful beach and very near the nature preserve, which we visited often. . The pool was warm and we could swim even if it was a little chilly. There was a field on the grounds so the dog got daily frisbee workouts. Residents of Gulf Pines were friendly and we enjoyed the contact we had with others. We did not run into any problems, but on the rare occasion that we needed to contact owner, communication was immediate. We would rent again in a heart beat.

Comfortable home in paradise.

Location, location, location. We love the Gulf Pines community and access to the many amenities. The big screen porch was the highlight of this house. Good beds, linens, and towels.

Great vacation experience!

Property was very clean and well appointed with everything we needed for cooking and going to the beach. The owners had a booklet that gave us all the information we needed to get settled and enjoy our stay on the island. The neighborhood pool and tennis courts were very clean and maintained. We'd love to stay again!

A paradise of its own

Gulf Pines is a beautiful development that is so lush with both natural and professionally landscaped vegetation, you hardly know that your neighbor is so close by. If you like being a bit off the beaten path, Gulf Pines is a great self-contained community. The pool(s), tennis court, and clubhouse are well maintained and the residents/other owners are very friendly. Our house was recently purchased by the current owner, and had all new appliances, mattresses, cushions, linens and towels (not to mention floors, paint, etc.). Kitchen was very well stocked, and Denise was wonderful to work with. There are two sea kayaks, two bikes, and now two bike helmets after she purchased them for our stay. The main floor linai is always shaded and cool enough to sit out, the master suite patio is a gorgeous place to sun-bathe and star-gaze. The living/family room, which is huge, does trap a lot of heat, especially in the upstairs, and unfortunately several of the sliding doors do not open, including one in a bedroom needed for cross-ventilation.. A/C and heat work very well, but A/C would not be needed with better ventilation. As a prior tenant noted, some areas of the house could use some better lighting-- a small task light above the sink would solve the entire problem in the kitchen. . All in all, a great stay and we would rent again.

Gulf Pines Drive

The setting, decorating, well equipped kitchen and cleanliness were outstanding. Owner was very responsive. But the lighting, especially in the kitchen, was poor, Unable to open any windows in one of the bedrooms because the screens were damaged. Screen door on porch had a large space at the top. Worried about bugs, we filled the space with newspapers, so we couldn't use the back screen door. The T.V. in the living room and upstairs bedroom were not satisfactory (kept losing connection) because they were hooked up to Wi Fi instead of cable. Third T.V. was fine---hooked to cable.
