AbFab Artekale Apartment
A wonderful apartment in the Casco Viejo. And never has an apartment been as easy to arrive at - a tram from the bus station almost to the front door. Also, waiting at the front door was Jose who then showed us around his charming two bedroom apartment with its well stocked kitchen and welcoming fruit bowl. Obligatory trips to the Guggenheim ( for me, worth it just to see the Anselm Keifer “Between Two Rivers” ) and Portugalete. Other trips to Bermeo via Gernika ( which I now associate with pimientos, whilst not forgetting the other ) and Plentzia where we had a good menu del dia at a waterside restaurant. Each evening finished at Plaza Nueva. Thank you Jose.

Good apartment in a great location
The apartment exactly described on the HomeAway website. There is reasonable living space and the furniture is comfortable. The main bed was very comfortable. The kitchen had all the usual appliances with the exception of a dishwasher. There were ample heaters in the apartment, but no air conditioning. We thought this might cause a problem as we were staying in mid-summer (early August), but we were lucky with the weather and just leaving a window open was enough to keep things comfortable on most days. The apartment is not large, but we found it adequate over our 1 week stay. As a couple in a two bedroom apartment, we used the second bedroom for storage of bags, which was helpful. Bathroom was also well appointed and very clean – as was the whole apartment. The TV is Spanish channels only. WiFi Internet access was excellent – reliable and quite fast. The location of the apartment is probably its greatest asset. It in inside the old town area, with a multitude of restaurants, tapas and pintxo bars all around. Virtually all the main attractions of Bilbao are within walking distance. All the old town sites are under 5 minutes walk, the Goggenhein and the new town commercial district are about 10-15 minutes away. If you prefer to use the excellent tram service, then the Ribea station is about 50m away. Each station has a ticket machine, so it is very easy to use. Special mention should go to Jose (the owner). We arrived at Bilbao at 4pm and he was there to meet us in the street outside. He helped us take our bags upstairs – second floor but more than the usual number of steps due to the height of the first floor. He not only provided a welcome bottle of wine, but a large bowl of delicious fresh fruit and a litre of milk. The kitchen cupboards were also well stocked with common commodities such as salt, pepper, oil, flour, sugar, tea, coffee, etc. Makes the first night much easier and saves bringing/buying these items that are necessary but used in small quantities. Jose does not really speak any English, but his happy, eager attitude allowed us to communicate all the necessary things. The only negative about staying in the old town is car parking. There is virtually none available. We parked in the underground public car park near the main theater building – about 7 minutes walk. Rate is $17 Euro per day. We can highly recommend this apartment, with the only real proviso being the air conditioning.

Great place
The stay at this apartment was very nice. Meeting Jose was helpful with information and the location is in old town which is also nice and charming. All the amenities were there and Jose shared with us all the places to go and being a great host. Everything was explained and he was nice. Location is ideal - everything in walking distance!

Convenient apt with most gracious host
The apartment is as described. Very clean. Well appointed oasis in the city. Quite an assortment of food items (teas, coffees, mustards) available too. The best part of this rental is the host, Jose. Such a kind, accommodating person. We needed to leave early in the morning to catch a flight and he met us .... at 6 am! ... to help us. We gave the location only 4 stars because the apt is a bit of a distance (0.3-0.4 miles on cobblestones) from the parking garage. Fine for us but thinking that for some people, that could be a challenge.

Great apartment.
The apartment in old town Bilbao was really great; the location and the space itself. The host, Jose, was great too. I arrived early yet he allowed me to leave my suitcase there while I explored the neighborhood and the apartment cleaning was finishing up. I would definitely stay here again.

Perfekte Lage
Wunderbar zentral gelegen, aber dennoch ruhig. Perfekt, um diese interessante Stadt zu erkunden. Die Markthalle liegt direkt um die Ecke, ebenso die Tram, welche zudem außerordentlich günstig ist. Unzählige Bars und Restaurants in wenigen Minuten erreichbar. Die Wohnung selbst ist sauber und komfortabel, der Vermieter ungemein freundlich und sehr zuverlässig. Eine Empfehlung!

Fijn appartement
Alle voorzieningen zijn dichtbij het appartement want ze ligt heel centraal. In het appartement zelf is alles aanwezig zoals ook koffie en thee. Met de Barikkaart reis je met de Airportbus voor heel weinig geld van het vliegveld naar het centrum. De Barikkaart is geldig voor al het vervoer. Heel erg handig. Met het Time to momo boekje hebben we een flink deel van van de 3 stadswandelingen gedaan, inclusief een bezoek aan het Guggenheim. Kortom wij zijn moe, maar voldaan, weer naar huis gegaan. Bilbao en het appartement - DOEN - zeggen wij.

Au coeur du vieux Bilbao
Appartement dont l'emplacement est idéal pour visiter Bilbao. Situé dans le vieux quartier aux ruelles typiques, regorgeant de bars où se régaler de pintxos divers et variés. On peut le parcourir à pied sans souci puisque tout est piéton. Si l'on a une voiture, pas de problème, le propriétaire propose un parking! Pour aller plus loin et visiter le Guggenheim par exemple, pas de panique, la station de tram est juste à côté et dessert tous les lieux à voir. L'appartement est parfaitement propre et dispose de tout le nécessaire pour un séjour facile et agréable. Jose est très gentil et très serviable, nous le remercions pour son accueil!

Alles sehr unkompliziert mit José, dem Vermieter. Er ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Die Wohnung liegt sehr zentral, wir konnten viele Sehenswürdigkeiten und die große Einkaufsstraße zu Fuß erreichen. Auch befinden sich viele Bars und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in unmittelbarer Nähe. Die U-Bahnstation (Metro) erreicht man innerhalb von fünf Minuten, mit der man sehr gut den Rest von Bilbao erkunden kann. Auch zu den verschiedenen Stränden zu kommen, ist mit der Metro kein Problem. Die Wohnung an sich ist sehr gemütlich, es fehlt an nichts.

The property was in a great area and was lovely. Good size, clean, easy to contact the host when needed. One suggestion would be to freshen the place up with new fluffy towels. It is something I have noticed at a lot of these types of accommodations. Trust me, people will notice. The other suggestion is that if the vrbo listing says check out is noon, then it is noon. Not 10 am, not 11 am. NOON. So plan for your nexts guests and cleaners with that in mind and don’t bother the guests in there now or show up at the door early. Don’t even ask what time we plan to leave. That is our business, not yours.

The apartment is truly well located. In the old town but on a quiet street. Well located for transportation, close to lots of Pintxio bars and the market. The apartment, while smaller than it appeared had a good bed and shower and was clean.

Perfect place for a city trip
The apartment is clean, comfortable and very well located. It provided for everything advertised and the beds were comfortable. Wonderful place and host in Bilbao
Great apartment in the old city. Fully appointed with all the comforts of home, including a washer/dryer. Within walking distance of the river attractions, restaurants, and the Guggenheim. Parking across the river at the train station requires a short walk.
