About this property

Costa Rica Paradise Right on the Beach!!! with FAST FIBER OPTIC WIFI included

Welcome to Plumita Pacifica, on one of Costa Rica’s most beautiful and pristine beaches. FAST FIBER OPTIC WIFI included, perfect for today's worker without borders.

This is one of two listings. They are both identical and on the first floor. You'll see them both in the video. The other listing number 1449475

Can you beat this value? $95 PER NIGHT!!! (or less depending on length of stay) to be right on a secluded, romantic beach in paradise!!! Click on the video that is on my website and you’ll see what I mean.

VRBO may have calculated the rates differently than I do, in the area where rates are shown for your stay, because my RATES ARE LOWER if you stay 8 or more nights. PLEASE BE SURE TO READ THE PRICE/RESERVATIONS INFORMATION in the email I have or will reply to you in to avoid the confusion that may be caused by their calculations. The VRBO system only calculates rates on a weekly (7 days) or monthly basis whereas mine gives you a lower rate for 8 more nights. For example, if you want 8 nights they will charge you $95 for all 8 whereas my actual charge would be $90 per night for all 8 nights. Please see the rates schedule posted below.

And don't be confused by the calendar you see because... I have two identical apartments, as you'll see in the video. So if the calendar shows your dates as reserved just ask me if the other apartment is available.

In the following descriptions I’ll tell you, briefly, as much as I can but here’s the real secret… they say a picture is worth a thousand words… I believe a short video may be even better. To view my little piece of paradise visit my website and click on the video.

Peace and quiet, romance and solitude all just outside your door. Step outside your comfortably and completely furnished apartment right onto a beautiful, pristine and gentle beach. Look to your left, look to your right and you’ll see nothing but more pristine beach!

Relax under the coconut palms or play in the surf. The beach slopes so gently in front of your apartment you can walk out past the breakers and still touch sand while enjoying the calm and warmth of the water. Or, if you’re the adventuresome type, surf in one of Costa Rica’s prime surf locations about 200 yards up the beach.

For your enjoyment and comfort a complete one bedroom apartment was created for people who want more out of life than a whirlwind tour of Costa Rica. Stroll on the beach, play and swim in the warm water, pick a coconut, get a nice tan, watch the pelicans fishing in the surf (maybe try it yourself), or just sit on your patio in a beautiful setting and relax to the lulling sounds of the ocean and be delighted by beautiful sunsets, flowers, and scenery.

The apartment is air conditioned, has lots of light, a complete and fully equipped kitchen, queen bed with elegant linens to snuggle into, a nice modern bathroom with marble countertops and a big shower with a great shower head. Or use the outdoor shower after enjoying the beach.

But most importantly, a spectacular ocean view. Step outside and you are on the beach!

Activities abound in and around Playa Junquillal. You’ll have an activity guide in your apartment to reference which will tell you about activities and restaurants, all within an easy walk.

Couldn't have been a better location!

Very comfortable accommodations! Loved the quiet and virtually private beach. Gary couldn't be a nicer, friendlier guy. Thoroughly enjoyed our chats and learning about the area. We can't wait to go back to Costa Rica!

Perfect place to relax.

Gary was a wonderful host... went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Even took time out of his day to coordinate the changing of both of our flat tires on our rental car! The long stretch of perfectly sandy beach felt like it was our own personal playground. It was the perfect place to end our 2 week vacation!

Amazing

This is our 2nd time staying at Plumita Pacifica. If you are looking for the busy resorts, with a lot of people this is not your place. If you are looking for a gorgeous stretch of beach with no other people on it, then we would highly recommend. Gary has great rental units, they are safe and right on the beach. We love Playa Junquillal it is one of our favorite spots in CR. We will definitely be back.

A Return to Love

My husband & I planned a short trip to Costa Rica and this was the perfect place for us. I wanted to spend time walking on the beach and holding hands. We walked a 2 mile section of the beach and never saw more than 6 people. I have some wonderful sunset photos that I will treasure forever. Gary and his staff were so helpful during our stay and when I left behind my cash and driver's license he sent an email to inform me. THANK YOU We had a wonderful time!

perfect getaway for 2 in paradise

The description online says it all - Paradise Right on the Beach! We stayed for 6 nights and wished we could've stayed longer. The apartment was perfectly stocked with everything we needed in the kitchen, the bed was comfortable, and the entire place was clean and well-kept. The pictures online don't quite accurately depict how close you are to the beach - it's RIGHT there and the soothing sound of the waves never stopped! I could stare at the ocean and those sunsets all day, every day. Gary was hospitable, polite, friendly and available for any questions we had during our stay. We were not disappointed and most certainly would like to make a return trip to Playa Junquillal one day.

Already Planning to Return

We spent an amazing week at Plumita Pacifica and simply fell in love with Playa Junquillal. Gary is a wonderful host and has the BEST location on the beach. If you are looking for great waves, long walks on a quiet and incredibly beautiful beach, and a place to kick back and relax you have found your paradise! Gary directed us to all the local dining spots which we really enjoyed (and had no problem walking to since we didn't rent a car). He also hooked us up with a local company who shuttled us to and from Liberia Airport and coordinated our rafting and ziplining excursions. It was a perfect week! Thank you Gary!

Tranquility

Our 10 day stay was much more than what we expected! The cabina is exactly what you see in the pictures and on the video. The grounds are kept up beautifully. And yes you really are just a few steps to be on the beach. Gary, the host, is just that. He welcomed us at our arrival, showed us around and was very helpful with any requests we had during the stay. Selfishly I hate giving a 5 star as I'd like to keep this hidden piece of paradise quiet:) However that is not fair to Gary. Thank you Gary for the absolute best tranquil vacation ever! See you soon!

Going back as soon as possible!

We were only there for a quick stay, and our first trip to Costa Rica, and we definitely fell in love. This place is worth much more than the great rates, and the people we connected with through Gary and those he referred us to was priceless. We are planning our return trip for this year we loved it so much, and that says a lot as we have so many places we want to see, but we need more pura vida before we go anywhere else! It may sound cliche but it is totally true, the vibe, the people, etc in this area are so laid back and friendly, it honestly felt like another planet!! In our short trip we got in surf lessons and a trip to the arenal volcano for some zip-lining and horseback riding and Gary's friends he referred us to were so nice and helped plan everything for us...it was a breeze!

Just returned from paradise .....

We just returned from a wonderful stay at Plumita Pacifica. If you are looking for a tourist town and glam, stay elsewhere. What you get here --- only 2 hours from the Liberia Airport --- is the most beautiful 2-mile beach to yourselves and total relaxation. If you absolutely must go to Tamarindo LOL, it is only about an hour away. The roads though ..... UGH. There are restaurants within walking distance. We highly recommend Sylvia at the neighboring Hotel Castillo Divertido for a mangrove estuary kayaking tour. She was fabulous. We also used TPV for a riverboat animal tour, lunch and stop in Guaitil, where pottery is made. The pottery was incredible. I dare you to leave without buying any! The nice thing about TPV is they pick you up and bring you home. Again ... those roads! Gary's description and photos are pretty much right on. It is a beautiful, quiet setting and most everything you need is there. Bring shampoo, soap and beach towels though, as they were not provided and stores are not close. The bed was super comfortable, but not the furniture in the main sitting area. A great shower is important at a beach place and you get two - indoor and outdoor! The wi-fi is great ---- we used it to log into work and also to watch movies. Totally reliable and a huge plus, since it got dark about 6PM. We had lots of sun and beach time and the best thunder/lightning/rain storms!! Gary is a very nice man who genuinely lost Costa Rica -- and full of great information on the local area. I would highly recommend a trip to Gary's Plumita Pacifica!

Costa Rica

Great location! Right on the beach. The host ‘Gary’ is great, makes you feel welcomed. We stayed 3 nights, close to restaurants and enjoyed the long walks on the beach. The beach steps from your condo has a tremendous sandy beach. There is a turtle sanctuary nearby and depending on the turtles, you could see them go to the beach. If we were staying longer I’d would have preferred to rent a car to check out other towns. I would recommend Plumita Pacifica.

Excellent location. Peace and tranquillity.

Excellent location. Morning walks on the peaceful beach. Breakfast in, lunch and or supper at walkable distance lodges, which were all fabulous; all while enjoying monkeys, armadillos, toads, lizards etc... Everyone we encountered were helpful and considerate...we only wish we had known better Spanish. Sunsets are amazing! Pura Vida

Far exceeded our expectations. Very clean, location fabulous and stunning. Gary was a great host!

We loved our 2 week stay. We had the pleasure of meeting two other sets of guests, both had multiple stays before (1 was 10th year in a row, the other was the 4th visit). The place is as advertised with a well appointed kitchen, great view and terrific shower. Gary was a wonderful host with many great recommendations and insights to Junquillal/Costa Rican lifestyle. We enjoyed walking the beach which was absolutely stunning including beautiful water and glistening/soft sand. Many times we were only 2 of a few people on the nearly 2 mile stretch of beach. Sunsets were fantastic and viewed right from the property. We rested in the hammock while listening to the palm trees in the wind. We watched migrating brown pelicans play in the waves for hours. We witnessed two baby turtle releases. We also saw dolphins, whales, surfers, fish in the waves and fisherman catching fish. The water and beach were phenomenal. This was our third trip and location in Costa Rica. By far, this is our absolute favorite! We totally fell in love with this area. We are already planning our next trip and hope to share this experience with some of our family and friends. The local tenants were very friendly and we got our pet fix in daily with visits from a friendly dog (Aang) and cat (Kitty). We had the best food we’ve eaten in Costa Rica, all within 3-5 minutes from our place. We are strongly recommending this to our loved ones. If one is looking for beauty, tranquility and want to experience the “ Pura Vida” lifestyle, this is the place.

Quiet paradise retreat

We loved the beach front view and access to the quiet beach. Warm clear ocean was lots of fun for swimming. Gary was very accommodating for all our needs. Kitchen was well stocked if you want to cook. There are about 5 restaurants within walking distance if you don’t feel like cooking. Turtle hatchery just down the beach.

Dream Vacation

We stayed at Plumita Pacifica the last week of Sept/17. We came well prepared as Gary was most accommodating with answering any questions/concerns. The condo was fully equipped with all necessities and very clean. Perfect for 2 people. We cannot say enough about the surroundings and stunning beach, beautiful sunsets, and lush vegetation. We rented a car and did many day trips , always looking forward to our return to our pristine and private beach. Playa Junquillal is the cleanest, most private and serene beach out of the six beaches we visited. It truly is a piece of paradise where we were able to do lots of exploring, relaxing, and making great memories. Definitely looking forward to coming back. Thank you Gary

On a beautiful deserted beach, comfy little condo, delightful host

Gary is a great host, friendly and full of information. The condo is small but has all the space and equipment two people need, very clean and neat, comfortable queen bed, big shower with rainfall head, efficient kitchen with spices and olive oil and coffee, cool a/c, big windows with a view of the beach, outdoor shower, chairs for the beach and front porch, beach front right out the door, lots of palm trees, hammock, surfing a short walk down the beach, lava tidal pools and tiny mangrove swamp a little further down the beach, lots of crabs and shells, warm ocean water, basically a slice of heaven. A grocery store and several nice little restaurants are a short drive or 10 minute walk away. Make sure you eat at the Eco Lodge at least once - dine on a balcony with a view of the surf and fantastic fish and chicken dishes at reasonable prices, great smoothies too.

Piece of paradise

Gary is the perfect host....the place is simply beautifull, right on the beach, near good restaurants, face to the sunset, quiet, just far enough from the touristic beaches, nice to have long walk on the beach and do a nice jog on the road or on the beach. You feel like your are at home, the small grocery store is clean and you can find almost everything you need...A peace of paradise....We will be back for sure. Only one thing négative, we have to come back home one day..

About the host

Hosted by Gary Davis

Host profile image
Having been raised in Alaska, I began to seek out a warmer paradise. After many trips to Hawaii and the Caribbean I thought I’d take a look at Costa Rica. Wow! It’s prettier than both and far more interesting with its incredible eco-diversity. The part of Costa Rica in which I chose to build Plumita Pacifica has the exact climate of Hawaii, same temperatures, humidity and breezes but more tranquility and natural beauty. The people are warm and friendly and the country has been a stable Democracy for 100 years and is in the “emerging country” phase of its transition to a developed nation. So considering all the positives I knew I had found my paradise and learning Spanish was a welcome challenge. So here I am, enjoying my little piece of paradise, with the opportunity to share it with those who would like to sample the “pura vida” lifestyle. When you visit my website you'll see everything you're looking for in terms of living accommodations in the video. What you won't see is the fact that everything else you need is a literal stone's throw from Plumita Pacifica. Even though I have a very unique location in that it has all the romance that a secluded little paradise has to offer, I'm very close to a well stocked market and several nice restaurants as well as many different tour/tourist options, as you will see when you explore my website.

Why they chose this property

I chose this part of Costa Rica in the province of Guanacaste because it’s the driest part of the country and in many ways reminded me of parts of California that I love. It’s not just all dense jungle. There are many open spaces with clumps of trees and jungle covered hills in the background. Guanacaste is cattle country. I frequently see a cowboy driving his cattle and in fact occasionally must proceed very slowly in my car while he moves them off the highway. I love the rural flavor of the place. And the "rainy season" is my favorite part of the year. It's not all monsoon as the term implies... it starts around May 15 and ends around November 1 with the average day starting out with blue skies, fluffy white clouds and 3 or 4 days out of the week, in the afternoon, it will cloud over, maybe rain a little, then the next day starts out with blue skies again.

Alaska is quite undeveloped and my childhood was spent in a remote location where there were very few people and Guanacaste often “takes me back” to those peaceful days. And yet from Plumita Pacifica I have access to a wide variety of vacation and entertainment attractions, as you will see when you visit my website.

What makes this property unique

Here’s what is so unique about the location of Plumita Pacifica. From the property you see no other structure. You step out onto the beach, look to your left, look to your right and you see nothing but more pristine beach… no houses, no condos, no structures of any kind and usually no people. And yet Plumita Pacifica is within a few minutes walk of restaurants, a market and tour facilities. So you get this feeling of being in this romantic little place in the middle of nowhere with a view of the beautiful Pacific through the coconut palms and yet you have everything you need nearby, just out of sight!
